2022-12-01s390/cio: sort out physical vs virtual pointers usageAlexander Gordeev1-4/+5
This does not fix a real bug, since virtual addresses are currently indentical to physical ones. Use virt_to_phys() for intparm interrupt parameter to convert a 64-bit virtual address to the 32-bit physical address, which is expected to be below 2GB. 2022-03-27s390: cleanup timer API useYu Liao1-9/+3
cleanup the s390's use of the timer API - del_timer() contains timer_pending() condition - mod_timer(timer, expires) is equivalent to: del_timer(timer); timer->expires = expires; add_timer(timer); If the timer is inactive it will be activated, using add_timer() on condition !timer_pending(&private->timer) is redundant. Just cleanup, no logic change. 2021-12-06s390/cio: remove uevent suppress from cio driverVineeth Vijayan1-5/+0
commit fa1a8c23eb7d ("s390: cio: Delay uevents for subchannels") introduced suppression of uevents for a subchannel until after it is clear that the subchannel would not be unregistered again immediately. This was done to avoid uevents being generated for I/O subchannels with no valid device, which can happen on LPAR. However, this also has some drawbacks: All subchannel drivers need to manually remove the uevent suppression and generate an ADD uevent as soon as they are sure that the subchannel will stay around. This misses out on all uevents that are not the initial ADD uevent that would be generated while uevents are suppressed; for example, all subchannels were missing the BIND uevent. As uevents being generated even for I/O subchannels without an operational device turned out to be not as bad as missing uevents and complicating the code flow, let's remove uevent suppression for subchannels. 2021-07-21s390/cio: Make struct css_driver::remove return voidUwe Kleine-König1-3/+1
The driver core ignores the return value of css_remove() (because there is only little it can do when a device disappears) and all callbacks return 0 anyhow. So make it impossible for future drivers to return an unused error code by changing the remove prototype to return void. The real motivation for this change is the quest to make struct bus_type::remove return void, too. 2017-11-24s390: cio: add SPDX identifiers to the remaining filesGreg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1
It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to audit the kernel tree for correct licenses. Update the drivers/s390/cio/ files with the correct SPDX license identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This work is based on a script and data from Thomas Gleixner, Philippe Ombredanne, and Kate Stewart. 2017-10-18s390/debug: improve debug_eventSebastian Ott1-7/+1
debug_event currently truncates the data if used with a size larger than the buf_size of the debug feature. For lots of callers of this function, wrappers have been implemented that loop until all data is handled. Move that functionality into debug_event_common and get rid of the wrappers. 2017-06-09block: introduce new block status code typeChristoph Hellwig1-3/+3
Currently we use nornal Linux errno values in the block layer, and while we accept any error a few have overloaded magic meanings. This patch instead introduces a new blk_status_t value that holds block layer specific status codes and explicitly explains their meaning. Helpers to convert from and to the previous special meanings are provided for now, but I suspect we want to get rid of them in the long run - those drivers that have a errno input (e.g. networking) usually get errnos that don't know about the special block layer overloads, and similarly returning them to userspace will usually return somethings that strictly speaking isn't correct for file system operations, but that's left as an exercise for later. For now the set of errors is a very limited set that closely corresponds to the previous overloaded errno values, but there is some low hanging fruite to improve it. blk_status_t (ab)uses the sparse __bitwise annotations to allow for sparse typechecking, so that we can easily catch places passing the wrong values. 2013-11-15s390/scm_block: do not hide eadm subchannel dependencySebastian Ott1-8/+2
Stop hiding scm_block's dependency to the eadm subchannel driver (by using functions provided by the eadm subchannel instead of wrappers provided by the scm bus). This will help userspace recognizing module dependencies (e.g. for building a ramdisk). As a side effect we can get rid of some code reimplementing refcounting between those modules. 2013-01-08s390/irq: remove split irq fields from /proc/statHeiko Carstens1-1/+1
Now that irq sum accounting for /proc/stat's "intr" line works again we have the oddity that the sum field (first field) contains only the sum of the second (external irqs) and third field (I/O interrupts). The reason for that is that these two fields are already sums of all other fields. So if we would sum up everything we would count every interrupt twice. This is broken since the split interrupt accounting was merged two years ago: 052ff461c8427629aee887ccc27478fc7373237c "[S390] irq: have detailed statistics for interrupt types". To fix this remove the split interrupt fields from /proc/stat's "intr" line again and only have them in /proc/interrupts. This restores the old behaviour, seems to be the only sane fix and mimics a behaviour from other architectures where /proc/interrupts also contains more than /proc/stat's "intr" line does.
