2021-06-17media: v4l2-subdev: add subdev-wide state structTomi Valkeinen1-11/+11
We have 'struct v4l2_subdev_pad_config' which contains configuration for a single pad used for the TRY functionality, and an array of those structs is passed to various v4l2_subdev_pad_ops. I was working on subdev internal routing between pads, and realized that there's no way to add TRY functionality for routes, which is not pad specific configuration. Adding a separate struct for try-route config wouldn't work either, as e.g. set-fmt needs to know the try-route configuration to propagate the settings. This patch adds a new struct, 'struct v4l2_subdev_state' (which at the moment only contains the v4l2_subdev_pad_config array) and the new struct is used in most of the places where v4l2_subdev_pad_config was used. All v4l2_subdev_pad_ops functions taking v4l2_subdev_pad_config are changed to instead take v4l2_subdev_state. The changes to drivers/media/v4l2-core/v4l2-subdev.c and include/media/v4l2-subdev.h were written by hand, and all the driver changes were done with the semantic patch below. The spatch needs to be applied to a select list of directories. 2021-05-10media: exynos4-is: fix pm_runtime_get_sync() usage countMauro Carvalho Chehab1-4/+2
The pm_runtime_get_sync() internally increments the dev->power.usage_count without decrementing it, even on errors. On some places, this is ok, but on others the usage count ended being unbalanced on failures. Replace it by the new pm_runtime_resume_and_get(), introduced by: commit dd8088d5a896 ("PM: runtime: Add pm_runtime_resume_and_get to deal with usage counter") in order to properly decrement the usage counter, avoiding a potential PM usage counter leak. As a bonus, such function always return zero on success. So, some code can be simplified. This driver always operates on the DMA/IOVA addresses, so calling them physical addresses is misleading, although when no IOMMU is used they equal each other. Fix this by renaming all such entries to 'addr' and adjusting comments. vidioc_streamoff can be called multiple times from userspace, but we should only call media_pipeline_stop when we're actually setup. This became more noticeable after commit 2a2599c66368 ("[media] media: entity: Catch unbalanced media_pipeline_stop calls") was merged as it added a WARN for unbalanced calls to media_pipeline_stop. Commit bae4500399c4 ("[media] exynos4-is: Add missing entity function initialization") tried to suppress the warnings such as s5p-fimc-md camera: Entity type for entity FIMC.0 was not initialized! However, this missed setting for the subdev. Set it now to avoid the ugly warnings on boot. The V4L2 core sets the format description and flags for the driver in order to ensure consistent naming. So drop the strscpy of the description in drivers. Also remove any description strings in driver-internal structures since those are no longer needed. And in am437x-vpfe.c drop an unnecessary f->type assignment in vpfe_enum_fmt(). 2017-06-23[media] v4l2-ioctl/exynos: fix G/S_SELECTION's type handlingHans Verkuil1-2/+2
The type field in struct v4l2_selection is supposed to never use the _MPLANE variants. E.g. if the driver supports V4L2_BUF_TYPE_VIDEO_CAPTURE_MPLANE, then userspace should still pass V4L2_BUF_TYPE_VIDEO_CAPTURE. The reasons for this are lost in the mists of time, but it is really annoying. In addition, the exynos drivers didn't follow this rule and instead expected the _MPLANE type. To fix that code is added to the v4l2 core that maps the _MPLANE buffer types to their regular equivalents before calling the driver. Effectively this allows for userspace to use either _MPLANE or the regular buffer type. This keeps backwards compatibility while making things easier for userspace. Since drivers now never see the _MPLANE buffer types the exynos drivers had to be adapted as well. 2017-01-27[media] media: Rename graph and pipeline structs and functionsSakari Ailus1-4/+4
The media_entity_pipeline_start() and media_entity_pipeline_stop() functions are renamed as media_pipeline_start() and media_pipeline_stop(), respectively. The reason is two-fold: the pipeline struct is, rightly, already called media_pipeline (rather than media_entity_pipeline) and what this really is about is a pipeline. A pipeline consists of entities --- and, well, other objects embedded in these entities. As the pipeline object will be in the future moved from entities to pads in order to support multiple pipelines through a single entity, do the renaming now. Similarly, functions operating on struct media_entity_graph as well as the struct itself are renamed by dropping the "entity_" part from the prefix of the function family and the data structure. The graph traversal which is what the functions are about is not specifically about entities only and will operate on pads for the same reason as the media pipeline. The patch has been generated using the following command: git grep -l media_entity |xargs perl -i -pe ' s/media_entity_pipeline/media_pipeline/g; s/media_entity_graph/media_graph/g' And a few manual edits related to line start alignment and line wrapping. With the MC next gen rework, what's left for media_entity_init() is to just initialize the PADs. However, certain devices, like a FLASH led/light doesn't have any input or output PAD. So, there's no reason why calling media_entity_init() would be mandatory. Also, despite its name, what this function actually does is to initialize the PADs data. So, rename it to media_entity_pads_init() in order to reflect that. The media entity actual init happens during entity register, at media_device_register_entity(). Instead of relying on media subtype, use the new macros to detect if an entity is a subdev or an A/V DMA entity. Please note that most drivers assume that there's just AV_DMA or V4L2 subdevs. This is not true anymore, as we've added MC support for DVB, and there are plans to add support for ALSA and FB/DRM too. Ok, on the current pipelines supported by those drivers, just V4L stuff are there, but, assuming that some day a pipeline that also works with other subsystems will ever added, it is better to add explicit checks for the AV_DMA stuff. Currently, media_entity_init() creates an array with the links, allocated at init time. It provides a parameter (extra_links) that would allocate more links than the current needs, but this is not used by any driver. As we want to be able to do dynamic link allocation/removal, we'll need to change the implementation of the links. So, before doing that, let's first remove that extra unused parameter, in order to cleanup the interface first. 2015-12-18[media] vb2: drop v4l2_format argument from queue_setupHans Verkuil1-16/+15
The queue_setup callback has a void pointer that is just for V4L2 and is the pointer to the v4l2_format struct that was passed to VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS. The idea was that drivers would use the information from that struct to buffers suitable for the requested format. After the vb2 split series this pointer is now a void pointer, which is ugly, and the reality is that all existing drivers will effectively just look at the sizeimage field of v4l2_format. To make this more generic the queue_setup callback is changed: the void pointer is dropped, instead if the *num_planes argument is 0, then use the current format size, if it is non-zero, then it contains the number of requested planes and the sizes array contains the requested sizes. The exynos4 fimc capture driver claims to use monotonic timestamps but calls ktime_get_real_ts(). This is both an incorrect API use, and a bad idea because of the y2038 problem and the fact that the wall clock time is not reliable for timestamps across suspend or settimeofday(). This changes the driver to use the normal v4l2_get_timestamp() function like all other drivers. 2015-03-23[media] v4l2-subdev: replace v4l2_subdev_fh by v4l2_subdev_pad_configHans Verkuil1-11/+11
If a subdevice pad op is called from a bridge driver, then there is no v4l2_subdev_fh struct that can be passed to the subdevice. This made it hard to use such subdevs from a bridge driver. This patch replaces the v4l2_subdev_fh pointer by a v4l2_subdev_pad_config pointer in the pad ops. This allows bridge drivers to use the various try_ pad ops by creating a v4l2_subdev_pad_config struct and passing it along to the pad op. The v4l2_subdev_get_try_* macros had to be changed because of this, so I also took the opportunity to use the full name of the v4l2_subdev_get_try_* functions in the __V4L2_SUBDEV_MK_GET_TRY macro arguments: if you now do 'git grep v4l2_subdev_get_try_format' you will actually find the header where it is defined. One remark regarding the drivers/staging/media/davinci_vpfe patches: the *_init_formats() functions assumed that fh could be NULL. However, that's not true for this driver, it's always set. This is almost certainly a copy and paste from the omap3isp driver. I've updated the code to reflect the fact that fh is never NULL. The vb2 core ignores any return code from the stop_streaming op. And there really isn't anything it can do anyway in case of an error. So change the return type to void and update any drivers that implement it. The int return gave drivers the idea that this operation could actually fail, but that's really not the case. The pwc amd sdr-msi3101 drivers both had this construction: if (mutex_lock_interruptible(&s->v4l2_lock)) return -ERESTARTSYS; This has been updated to just call mutex_lock(). The stop_streaming op expects this to really stop streaming and I very much doubt this will work reliably if stop_streaming just returns without really stopping the DMA. 2013-06-12[media] exynos4-is: Add locking at fimc(-lite) subdev unregistered handlerSylwester Nawrocki1-0/+4
Protect the fimc/fimc-lite video nodes unregistration with their video lock. This prevents a kernel crash when e.g. udev opens a video node right after the driver registers it and then the driver tries to unregister it and defers its probing. Using video_is_unregistered() together with the video mutex allows safe unregistration of the video nodes at any time. Remove driver private video node reference counters and use entity->use_count instead. This makes the video pipelines power handling more similar to the method used in omap3isp driver. Now the graph mutex is taken always after the video mutex, as it is not possible to ensure apposite order at the all modules.
