I tried to find any indication of whether the capi drivers are still in
use, and have not found anything from a long time ago.
With public ISDN networks almost completely shut down over the past 12
months, there is very little you can actually do with this hardware. The
main remaining use case would be to connect ISDN voice phones to an
in-house installation with Asterisk or LCR, but anyone trying this in
turn seems to be using either the mISDN driver stack, or out-of-tree
drivers from the hardware vendors.
I may of course have missed something, so I would suggest moving these
three drivers (avm, hysdn, gigaset) into drivers/staging/ just in case
someone still uses them.
If nobody complains, we can remove them entirely in six months, or
otherwise move the core code and any drivers that are still needed back
into drivers/isdn.
As Paul Bolle notes, he is still testing the gigaset driver as long as
he can, but the Dutch ISDN network will be shut down in September 2019,
which puts an end to that.
Marcel Holtmann still maintains the Bluetooth CMTP profile and wants to
keep that alive, so the actual CAPI subsystem code remains in place for
now, after all other drivers are gone, CMTP and CAPI can be merged into
a single driver directory.

isdn source code uses a not-current coding style.
Update the coding style used on a per-line basis
so that git diff -w shows only elided blank lines
at EOF.
Done with emacs and some scripts and some typing.
Built x86 allyesconfig.
No detected change in objdump -d or size.

Commit 5a0e3ad causes slab.h to be included twice in many of the
Gigaset driver's source files, first via the common include file
gigaset.h and then a second time directly. Drop the spares, and
use the opportunity to clean up a few more similar cases.
Impact: cleanup, no functional change

Converts from using struct "class_device" to "struct device" making
everything show up properly in /sys/devices/ with symlinks from the
/sys/class directory.
Also fixes up the isdn drivers that were putting something in the class
device's directory.

This patch to the Siemens Gigaset driver fixes the compile warning
"ignoring return value of 'class_device_create_file', declared with
attribute warn_unused_result" appearing with CONFIG_ENABLE_MUST_CHECK=y in
release 2.6.18-rc1-mm1.

Using the class device pointer returned by tty_register_device() with
part 1 of the patch, attach the Gigaset drivers' "cidmode" sysfs entry
to its tty class device, where it can be found more easily by users
who do not know nor care which USB port the device is attached to.

Improve error reporting of the Gigaset drivers, by using the
dev_err/dev_warn/dev_info macros from device.h instead of err/warn/info from
usb.h whereever possible.
Also rename the private dbg macro to gig_dbg in order to avoid confusion with
the macro of the same name in usb.h.

This patch adds the procfs interface to the gigaset module. The procfs
interface provides access to status information and statistics about the
Gigaset devices. If the drivers are built with the debugging option it also
allows to change the amount of debugging output on the fly.
