2022-10-19drm: Remove drm_mode_config::fb_baseZack Rusin1-2/+0
The fb_base in struct drm_mode_config has been unused for a long time. Some drivers set it and some don't leading to a very confusing state where the variable can't be relied upon, because there's no indication as to which driver sets it and which doesn't. The only usage of fb_base is internal to two drivers so instead of trying to force it into all the drivers to get it into a coherent state completely remove it. 2018-03-01drm/omap: cleanup fbdev init/freeTomi Valkeinen1-10/+8
omap_fbdev_init() and omap_fbdev_free() use priv->fbdev directly. However, omap_fbdev_init() returns the fbdev, and omap_drv.c also assigns the return value to priv->fbdev. This is slightly confusing. Clean this up by removing the omap_fbdev_init() return value, as we don't care whether fbdev init succeeded or not. Also change omap_drv.c to call omap_fbdev_free() always, and omap_fbdev_free() does the check if fbdev was initialized. While at it, rename omap_fbdev_free() to omap_fbdev_fini() to better match the "init" counterpart. 2016-06-06drm/omap: remove align_pitch()Tomi Valkeinen1-3/+2
The previous commit removed aligning the pitch to SGX's pitch requirement from align_pitch(). What's left is effectively a function that returns width * bytespp. To clean up the driver, we can remove the function and have the calculation inline in the two places which call align_pitch(). 2015-12-14drm/omap: fix fbdev pix format to support all platformsTomi Valkeinen1-4/+1
omap_fbdev always creates a framebuffer with ARGB8888 pixel format. On OMAP3 we have VIDEO1 overlay that does not support ARGB8888, and on OMAP2 none of the overlays support ARGB888. This patch changes the omap_fbdev's fb to XRGB8888, which is supported by all platforms. Signed-off-by: Tomi Valkeinen <tomi.valkeinen@ti.com> Tested-by: H. 2014-07-08drm: Introduce drm_fb_helper_prepare()Thierry Reding1-1/+1
To implement hotplug detection in a race-free manner, drivers must call drm_kms_helper_poll_init() before hotplug events can be triggered. Such events can be triggered right after any of the encoders or connectors are initialized. At the same time, if the drm_fb_helper_hotplug_event() helper is used by a driver, then the poll helper requires some parts of the FB helper to be initialized to prevent a crash. At the same time, drm_fb_helper_init() requires information that is not necessarily available at such an early stage (number of CRTCs and connectors), so it cannot be used yet. Add a new helper, drm_fb_helper_prepare(), that initializes the bare minimum needed to allow drm_kms_helper_poll_init() to execute and any subsequent hotplug events to be processed properly.
