2021-02-25drm: Use state helper instead of the plane state pointerMaxime Ripard1-1/+2
Many drivers reference the plane->state pointer in order to get the current plane state in their atomic_update or atomic_disable hooks, which would be the new plane state in the global atomic state since _swap_state happened when those hooks are run. Use the drm_atomic_get_new_plane_state helper to get that state to make it more obvious. The current atomic helpers have either their object state being passed as an argument or the full atomic state. The former is the pattern that was done at first, before switching to the latter for new hooks or when it was needed. Let's convert the remaining helpers to provide a consistent interface, this time with the planes atomic_update and atomic_disable. Some drivers are storing the plane->state pointer in atomic_update and atomic_disable in a variable simply called state, while the state passed as an argument is called old_state. In order to ease subsequent reworks and to avoid confusing or inconsistent names, let's rename those variables to new_state. 2021-02-23drm/gem: Move drm_gem_fb_prepare_fb() to GEM atomic helpersThomas Zimmermann1-2/+2
The function drm_gem_fb_prepare_fb() is a helper for atomic modesetting, but currently located next to framebuffer helpers. Move it to GEM atomic helpers, rename it slightly and adopt the drivers. Same for the rsp simple-pipe helper. Compile-tested with x86-64, aarch64 and arm. 2019-12-10drm/meson: plane: add support for AFBC mode for OSD1 planeNeil Armstrong1-31/+197
This adds all the OSD configuration plumbing to support the AFBC decoders path to display of the OSD1 plane. The Amlogic GXM and G12A AFBC decoders are integrated very differently. The Amlogic GXM has a direct output path to the OSD1 VIU pixel input, because the GXM AFBC decoder seem to be a custom IP developed by Amlogic. On the other side, the Amlogic G12A AFBC decoder seems to be an external IP that emit pixels on an AXI master hooked to a "Mali Unpack" block feeding the OSD1 VIU pixel input. This uses a weird "0x1000000" internal HW physical address on both sides to transfer the pixels. For Amlogic GXM, the supported pixel formats are the same as the normal linear OSD1 mode. On the other side, Amlogic added support for all AFBC v1.2 formats for the G12A AFBC integration. For simplicity, we stick to the already supported formats for now. The G12A Primary plane was disabled by writing in the OSD1 configuration registers, but this caused the plane blender to stall instead of continuing to blend only the overlay plane. The primary plane disable logic is flawed, when the primary plane is disabled, it is re-enabled in the vsync irq when another plane is updated. Handle the plane disabling correctly by handling the primary plane enable flag in the primary plane update & disable callbacks. 2018-12-03drm/meson: Fix an Alpha Primary Plane bug on Meson GXL/GXM SoCsNeil Armstrong1-0/+12
On the Amlogic GXL & GXM SoCs, a bug occurs on the primary plane when alpha is used where the alpha is not aligned with the pixel content. The workaround Amlogic implemented is to reset the OSD1 plane hardware block each time the plane is (re)enabled, solving the issue. In the reset, we still need to save the content of 2 registers which depends on the status of the plane, in addition to reload the scaler conversion matrix at the same time. This patch adds support for the Primary Plane scaling. On the Amlogic GX SoCs, the primary plane is used as On-Screen-Display layer on top of video, and it's needed to keep the OSD layer to a lower size as the physical display size to : - lower the memory bandwidth - lower the OSD rendering - lower the memory usage This use-case is used when setting the display mode to 3840x2160 and the OSD layer is rendered using the GPU. In this case, the GXBB & GXL cannot work on more than 2000x2000 buffer, thus needing the OSD layer to be kept at 1920x1080 and upscaled to 3840x2160 in hardware. The primary plane atomic check still allow 1:1 scaling, allowing native 3840x2160 if needed by user-space applications. 2018-02-20drm/meson: fix vsync buffer updateNeil Armstrong1-4/+3
The plane buffer address/stride/height was incorrectly updated in the plane_atomic_update operation instead of the vsync irq. This patch delays this operation in the vsync irq along with the other plane delayed setup. This issue was masked using legacy framebuffer and X11 modesetting, but is clearly visible using gbm rendering when buffer is submitted late after vblank, like using software decoding and OpenGL rendering in Kodi. With this patch, tearing and other artifacts disappears completely. It fetches the frames addresses, stride and parameters from the "Canvas" memory. This part is also in charge of the CSC (Colorspace Conversion). It can handle 2 OSD Planes and 2 Video Planes. VPP: Video Post Processing -------------------------- The Video Post Processing is in charge of the scaling and blending of the various planes into a single pixel stream. There is a special "pre-blending" used by the video planes with a dedicated scaler and a "post-blending" to merge with the OSD Planes. The OSD planes also have a dedicated scaler for one of the OSD. VENC: Video Encoders -------------------- The VENC is composed of the multiple pixel encoders : - ENCI : Interlace Video encoder for CVBS and Interlace HDMI - ENCP : Progressive Video Encoder for HDMI - ENCL : LCD LVDS Encoder The VENC Unit gets a Pixel Clocks (VCLK) from a dedicated HDMI PLL and clock tree and provides the scanout clock to the VPP and VIU. The ENCI is connected to a single VDAC for Composite Output. The ENCI and ENCP are connected to an on-chip HDMI Transceiver. This driver is a DRM/KMS driver using the following DRM components : - GEM-CMA - PRIME-CMA - Atomic Modesetting - FBDev-CMA For the following SoCs : - GXBB Family (S905) - GXL Family (S905X, S905D) - GXM Family (S912) The current driver only supports the CVBS PAL/NTSC output modes, but the CRTC/Planes management should support bigger modes. But Advanced Colorspace Conversion, Scaling and HDMI Modes will be added in a second time. The Device Tree bindings makes use of the endpoints video interface definitions to connect to the optional CVBS and in the future the HDMI Connector nodes. HDMI Support is planned for a next release.
