2020-05-18gpio: mb86s7x: Remove superfluous test for ACPI companionAndy Shevchenko1-8/+6
acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupts() will check for ACPI handle of the GPIO chip parent device and bail out if there is none defined. Thus, has_acpi_companion() is effectively repeating above and is not needed in the individual driver. Assigning ->to_irq() unconditionally doesn't change anything, except an error code, but this we fix as well by propagating it from platform_get_irq(). 2020-05-18gpio: mb86s7x: Use devm_clk_get_optional() to get the input clockAndy Shevchenko1-9/+7
Simplify the code which fetches the input clock by using devm_clk_get_optional(). If no input clock is present devm_clk_get_optional() will return NULL instead of an error which matches the behavior of the old code. 2017-10-31gpio: mb86s70: Revert "Return error if requesting an already assigned gpio"Ard Biesheuvel1-5/+0
Commit fd9c963c5661 ("gpio: mb86s70: Return error if requesting an already assigned gpio") adds code that infers from the state of the GPIO Pin Function Register (PFR) whether a GPIO has been assigned already. This assumes that the pin functions are set to 'peripheral' when the driver is loaded, which is not guaranteed. Also, the GPIO layer is perfectly capable of keeping track of which GPIOs have been assigned already, so we shouldn't need this check in the first place. 2017-10-31gpio: mb86s7x: share with other SoCs as moduleArd Biesheuvel1-1/+6
In order to reuse this driver for the Socionext Synquacer SC2A11 SoC, which inherited this IP from Fujitsu, remove the ARCH_MB86S7X Kconfig dependency, and revert the changes that prevent it from being built as a module. 2016-03-31gpio: mb86s7x: make explicitly non-modularPaul Gortmaker1-7/+1
The Kconfig for this driver is currently: config GPIO_MB86S7X bool "GPIO support for Fujitsu MB86S7x Platforms" ...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone. Lets remove the couple traces of modularity, so that when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only. Since module_init translates to device_initcall in the non-modular case, the init ordering remains unchanged with this commit. We also delete the MODULE_LICENSE tag etc. since all that information is already contained at the top of the file in the comments. 2015-11-19gpio: change member .dev to .parentLinus Walleij1-1/+1
The name .dev in a struct is normally reserved for a struct device that is let us say a superclass to the thing described by the struct. struct gpio_chip stands out by confusingly using a struct device *dev to point to the parent device (such as a platform_device) that represents the hardware. As we want to give gpio_chip:s real devices, this is not working. We need to rename this member to parent. This was done by two coccinelle scripts, I guess it is possible to combine them into one, but I don't know such stuff. They look like this: @@ struct gpio_chip *var; @@ -var->dev +var->parent and: @@ struct gpio_chip var; @@ -var.dev +var.parent and: @@ struct bgpio_chip *var; @@ -var->gc.dev +var->gc.parent Plus a few instances of bgpio that I couldn't figure out how to teach Coccinelle to rewrite. This patch hits all over the place, but I *strongly* prefer this solution to any piecemal approaches that just exercise patch mechanics all over the place. It mainly hits drivers/gpio and drivers/pinctrl which is my own backyard anyway.
