2020-06-15ASoC: qcom: common: set correct directions for dailinksSrinivas Kandagatla1-2/+12
Currently both FE and BE dai-links are configured bi-directional, However the DSP BE dais are only single directional, so set the directions as supported by the BE dais. Successful send of EOS command does not indicate that EOS is actually finished, correct event to wait EOS is finished is EOS_RENDERED event. 2020-05-05ASoC: qcom: lpass-cpu: Make I2S SD lines configurableStephan Gerhold3-64/+166
The LPASS hardware allows configuring the MI2S SD lines to use when playing/recording audio. However, at the moment the lpass-cpu driver has SD0 hard-coded for mono/stereo (or additional fixed SD lines for more channels). For weird reasons there seems to be hardware that uses one of the other SD lines for mono/stereo. For example, some Samsung devices use an external Speaker amplifier connected to Quaternary MI2S. For some reason, the SD line for audio playback was connected to SD1 rather than SD0. (I have no idea why...) At the moment, the lpass-cpu driver cannot be configured to work for the Speaker on these devices. The q6afe driver already allows configuring the MI2S SD lines through the "qcom,sd-lines" device tree property, but this works only when routing audio through the ADSP. This commit adds a very similar configuration for the lpass-cpu driver. It is now possible to add additional subnodes to the lpass device in the device tree, to configure the SD lines for playback and/or capture. E.g. for the Samsung devices mentioned above: &lpass { dai@3 { reg = <MI2S_QUATERNARY>; qcom,playback-sd-lines = <1>; }; }; qcom,playback/capture-sd-lines takes a list of SD lines (0-3) in the same format as the q6afe driver. (The difference here is that q6afe has separate DAIs for playback/capture, while lpass-cpu has one for both...) For backwards compatibility with older device trees, the lpass-cpu driver defaults to LPAIF_I2SCTL_MODE_8CH if the subnode for a DAI is missing. This is equivalent to the previous behavior: Up to 8 channels can be configured, and SD0/QUAT01 will be chosen when setting up a stream with fewer channels. This allows the speaker to work on Samsung MSM8916 devices that use an external speaker amplifier. 2020-04-15ASoC: q6dsp6: q6afe-dai: add missing channels to MI2S DAIsStephan Gerhold1-0/+16
For some reason, the MI2S DAIs do not have channels_min/max defined. This means that snd_soc_dai_stream_valid() returns false, i.e. the DAIs have neither valid playback nor capture stream. It's quite surprising that this ever worked correctly, but in 5.7-rc1 this is now failing badly: :) Commit 0e9cf4c452ad ("ASoC: pcm: check if cpu-dai supports a given stream") introduced a check for snd_soc_dai_stream_valid() before calling hw_params(), which means that the q6i2s_hw_params() function was never called, eventually resulting in: qcom-q6afe aprsvc:q6afe:4:4: no line is assigned ... even though "qcom,sd-lines" is set in the device tree. Commit 9b5db059366a ("ASoC: soc-pcm: dpcm: Only allow playback/capture if supported") now even avoids creating PCM devices if the stream is not supported, which means that it is failing even earlier with e.g.: Primary MI2S: ASoC: no backend playback stream Avoid all that trouble by adding channels_min/max for the MI2S DAIs. 2020-03-31ASoC: qcom: q6asm-dai: Add SNDRV_PCM_INFO_BATCH flagStephan Gerhold1-2/+2
At the moment, playing audio with PulseAudio with the qdsp6 driver results in distorted sound. It seems like its timer-based scheduling does not work properly with qdsp6 since setting tsched=0 in the PulseAudio configuration avoids the issue. Apparently this happens when the pointer() callback is not accurate enough. There is a SNDRV_PCM_INFO_BATCH flag that can be used to stop PulseAudio from using timer-based scheduling by default. According to https://www.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2014-March/073816.html: The flag is being used in the sense explained in the previous audio meeting -- the data transfer granularity isn't fine enough but aligned to the period size (or less). q6asm-dai reports the position as multiple of prtd->pcm_count = snd_pcm_lib_period_bytes(substream) so it indeed just a multiple of the period size. Therefore adding the flag here seems appropriate and makes audio work out of the box. commit 0814c6412967 ("ASoC: qcom: don't select unnecessary Platform") Current ALSA SoC avoid to add duplicate component to rtd, and this driver was selecting CPU component as Platform component. Thus, above patch removed Platform settings from this driver, because it assumed these are same component. But, some CPU driver is using generic DMAEngine, in such case, both CPU component and Platform component will have same of_node/name. In other words, there are some components which are different but have same of_node/name. In such case, Card driver definitely need to select Platform even though it is same as CPU. It is depends on CPU driver, but is difficult to know it from Card driver. This patch reverts above patch.
