Declare snd_kcontrol_new structures as const as they are only passed an argument to the function snd_ctl_new1. This argument is of type const, so snd_kcontrol_new structures having this property can be made const. The awacs sound driver produces a false-positive warning in ppc64_defconfig: sound/ppc/awacs.c: In function 'snd_pmac_awacs_init': include/sound/control.h:219:9: warning: 'master_vol' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Wmaybe-uninitialized] I haven't come up with a good way to rewrite the code to avoid the warning, so here is a bad one: I initialize the variable before the conditionall initialization so gcc no longer has to worry about it. This header file exists only for some hacks to adapt alsa-driver tree. It's useless for building in the kernel. Let's move a few lines in it to sound/core.h and remove it. With this patch, sound/driver.h isn't removed but has just a single compile warning to include it. This should be really killed in future. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it.
