2013-01-31wanrouter: delete now orphaned header content, files/driversPaul Gortmaker1-782/+0
The wanrouter support was identified earlier as unused for years, and so the previous commit totally decoupled it from the kernel, leaving the related wanrouter files present, but totally inert. Here we take the final step in that cleanup, by doing a wholesale removal of these files. The two step process is used so that the large deletion is decoupled from the git history of files that we still care about. The drivers deleted here all were dependent on the Kconfig setting CONFIG_WAN_ROUTER_DRIVERS. A stub wanrouter.h header (kernel & uapi) are left behind so that drivers/isdn/i4l/isdn_x25iface.c continues to compile, and so that we don't accidentally break userspace that expected these defines. 2010-07-12net: autoconvert trivial BKL users to private mutexArnd Bergmann1-3/+4
All these files use the big kernel lock in a trivial way to serialize their private file operations, typically resulting from an earlier semi-automatic pushdown from VFS. None of these drivers appears to want to lock against other code, and they all use the BKL as the top-level lock in their file operations, meaning that there is no lock-order inversion problem. Consequently, we can remove the BKL completely, replacing it with a per-file mutex in every case. There were still a few comments left refering to verify_area, and two functions, verify_area_skas & verify_area_tt that just wrap corresponding access_ok_skas & access_ok_tt functions, just like verify_area does for access_ok - deprecate those. There was also a few places that still used verify_area in commented-out code, fix those up to use access_ok. After applying this one there should not be anything left but finally removing verify_area completely, which will happen after a kernel release or two. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
