syzbot reported a slab-out-of-bounds/use-after-free issue,
which was caused by accessing an already freed smc sock in
fallback-specific callback functions of clcsock.
This patch fixes the issue by restoring fallback-specific
callback functions to original ones and resetting clcsock
sk_user_data to NULL before freeing smc sock.
Meanwhile, this patch introduces sk_callback_lock to make
the access and assignment to sk_user_data mutually exclusive.

Both listen and fallback process will save the current clcsock
callback functions and establish new ones. But if both of them
happen, the saved callback functions will be overwritten.
So this patch introduces some helpers to ensure that only save
the original callback functions of clcsock.

The current autocork algorithms will delay the data transmission
in BH context to smc_release_cb() when sock_lock is hold by user.
So there is a possibility that when connection is being actively
closed (sock_lock is hold by user now), some corked data still
remains in sndbuf, waiting to be sent by smc_release_cb(). This
will cause:
- smc_close_stream_wait(), which is called under the sock_lock,
has a high probability of timeout because data transmission is
delayed until sock_lock is released.
- Unexpected data sends may happen after connction closed and use
the rtoken which has been deleted by remote peer through
LLC_DELETE_RKEY messages.
So this patch will try to send out the remaining corked data in
sndbuf before active close process, to ensure data integrity and
avoid unexpected data transmission after close.

When smc_close_final() returns error, the return code overwrites by
kernel_sock_shutdown() in smc_close_active(). The return code of
smc_close_final() is more important than kernel_sock_shutdown(), and it
will pass to userspace directly.
Fix it by keeping both return codes, if smc_close_final() raises an
error, return it or kernel_sock_shutdown()'s.

The side that actively closed socket, it's clcsock doesn't enter
TIME_WAIT state, but the passive side does it. It should show the same
behavior as TCP sockets.
Consider this, when client actively closes the socket, the clcsock in
server enters TIME_WAIT state, which means the address is occupied and
won't be reused before TIME_WAIT dismissing. If we restarted server, the
service would be unavailable for a long time.
To solve this issue, shutdown the clcsock in [A], perform the TCP active
close progress first, before the passive closed side closing it. So that
the actively closed side enters TIME_WAIT, not the passive one.

SMC starts a separate tcp_listen worker for every SMC socket in
state SMC_LISTEN, and can accept an incoming connection request only,
if this worker is really running and waiting in kernel_accept(). But
the number of running workers is limited.
This patch reworks the listening SMC code and starts a tcp_listen worker
after the SYN-ACK handshake on the internal clc-socket only.

When an ISM device is removed, all its linkgroups are terminated,
i.e. all the corresponding connections are killed.
Connection killing invokes smc_close_active_abort(), which decreases
the sock refcount for certain states to simulate passive closing.
And it cancels the close worker and has to give up the sock lock for
this timeframe. This opens the door for a passive close worker or a
socket close to run in between. In this case smc_close_active_abort() and
passive close worker resp. smc_release() might do a sock_put for passive
closing. This causes:

SMCD link group termination is called when peer signals its shutdown
of its corresponding link group. For regular shutdowns no connections
exist anymore. For abnormal shutdowns connections must be killed and
their DMBs must be unregistered immediately. That means the SMCR method
to delay the link group freeing several seconds does not fit.
This patch adds immediate termination of a link group and its SMCD
connections and makes sure all SMCD link group related cleanup steps

When the clcsock is already released using sock_release() and a pending
smc_listen_work accesses the clcsock than that will fail. Solve this
by canceling and waiting for the work to complete first. Because the
work holds the sock_lock it must make sure that the lock is not hold
before the new helper smc_clcsock_release() is invoked. And before the
smc_listen_work starts working check if the parent listen socket is
still valid, otherwise stop the work early.

smc_release() calls a sock_put() for smc fallback sockets to cover
the passive closing sock_hold() in __smc_connect() and

An SMC socket stays in state SMC_INIT if connect fails. The sock_put

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

State SMC_CLOSED should be reached only, if ConnClosed has been sent to
the peer. If ConnClosed is received from the peer, a socket with
shutdown SHUT_WR done, switches errorneously to state SMC_CLOSED, which
means the peer socket is dangling. The local SMC socket is supposed to
switch to state APPFINCLOSEWAIT to make sure smc_close_final() is called
during socket close.

Several state changes occur during SMC socket closing. Currently
state changes triggered locally occur in process context with
lock_sock() taken while state changes triggered by peer occur in
tasklet context with bh_lock_sock() taken. bh_lock_sock() does not
wait till a lock_sock(() task in process context is finished. This
may lead to races in socket state transitions resulting in dangling
SMC-sockets, or it may lead to duplicate SMC socket freeing.
This patch introduces a closing worker to run all state changes under
lock_sock().

accessors into <linux/sched/signal.h>
task_struct::signal and task_struct::sighand are pointers, which would normally make it
straightforward to not define those types in sched.h.
That is not so, because the types are accompanied by a myriad of APIs (macros and inline
functions) that dereference them.
Split the types and the APIs out of sched.h and move them into a new header, <linux/sched/signal.h>.
With this change sched.h does not know about 'struct signal' and 'struct sighand' anymore,
trying to put accessors into sched.h as a test fails the following way:
./include/linux/sched.h: In function ‘test_signal_types’:
./include/linux/sched.h:2461:18: error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type ‘struct signal_struct’
^
This reduces the size and complexity of sched.h significantly.
Update all headers and .c code that relied on getting the signal handling
functionality from <linux/sched.h> to include <linux/sched/signal.h>.
The list of affected files in the preparatory patch was partly generated by
grepping for the APIs, and partly by doing coverage build testing, both
all[yes|mod|def|no]config builds on 64-bit and 32-bit x86, and an array of
cross-architecture builds.
Nevertheless some (trivial) build breakage is still expected related to rare
Kconfig combinations and in-flight patches to various kernel code, but most
of it should be handled by this patch.
