2008-06-17bridge: make bridge address settings stickyStephen Hemminger1-0/+4
Normally, the bridge just chooses the smallest mac address as the bridge id and mac address of bridge device. But if the administrator has explictly set the interface address then don't change it. 2008-06-11net: remove CVS keywordsAdrian Bunk1-2/+0
This patch removes CVS keywords that weren't updated for a long time from comments. Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2007-07-18usermodehelper: Tidy up waitingJeremy Fitzhardinge1-1/+1
Rather than using a tri-state integer for the wait flag in call_usermodehelper_exec, define a proper enum, and use that. I've preserved the integer values so that any callers I've missed should still work OK. 2007-05-08header cleaning: don't include smp_lock.h when not usedRandy Dunlap1-1/+0
Remove includes of <linux/smp_lock.h> where it is not used/needed. Suggested by Al Viro. Builds cleanly on x86_64, i386, alpha, ia64, powerpc, sparc, sparc64, and arm (all 59 defconfigs). 2007-04-25bridge: change when netlink events go to STPStephen Hemminger1-3/+0
Need to tell STP daemon about more events, like any time a device is added even when it is down. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@linux-foundation.org>
2007-04-25bridge: add support for user mode STPStephen Hemminger1-0/+56
This patchset based on work by Aji_Srinivas@emc.com provides allows spanning tree to be controled from userspace. Like hotplug, it uses call_usermodehelper when spanning tree is enabled so there is no visible API change. If call to start usermode STP fails it falls back to existing kernel STP. 2007-04-17[BRIDGE]: Unaligned access when comparing ethernet addressesEvgeny Kravtsunov1-2/+7
compare_ether_addr() implicitly requires that the addresses passed are 2-bytes aligned in memory. This is not true for br_stp_change_bridge_id() and br_stp_recalculate_bridge_id() in which one of the addresses is unsigned char *, and thus may not be 2-bytes aligned. 2006-10-15[BRIDGE]: flush forwarding table when device carrier offStephen Hemminger1-0/+2
Flush the forwarding table when carrier is lost. This helps for availability because we don't want to forward to a downed device and new packets may come in on other links. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2006-06-17[BRIDGE]: netlink interface for link managementStephen Hemminger1-0/+4
Add basic netlink support to the Ethernet bridge. Including: * dump interfaces in bridges * monitor link status changes * change state of bridge port For some demo programs see: http://developer.osdl.org/shemminger/prototypes/brnl.tar.gz These are to allow building a daemon that does alternative implementations of Spanning Tree Protocol. 2006-03-04[BRIDGE]: port timer initializationStephen Hemminger1-2/+0
Initialize the STP timers for a port when it is created, rather than when it is enabled. This will prevent future race conditions where timer gets started before port is enabled. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemmigner@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2006-02-15[BRIDGE]: Fix deadlock in br_stp_disable_bridgeAdrian Drzewiecki1-2/+2
Looks like somebody forgot to use the _bh spin_lock variant. We ran into a deadlock where br->hello_timer expired while br_stp_disable_br() walked br->port_list. 2006-01-03[BRIDGE]: Fix faulty check in br_stp_recalculate_bridge_id()Stephen Hemminger1-1/+1
One of the conversions from memcmp to compare_ether_addr is incorrect. We need to do relative comparison to determine min MAC address to use in bridge id. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2006-01-03[BRIDGE]: allow setting hardware address of bridge pseudo-devStephen Hemminger1-2/+1
Some people are using bridging to hide multiple machines from an ISP that restricts by MAC address. So in that case allow the bridge mac address to be set to any of the existing interfaces. I don't want to allow any arbitrary value and confuse STP. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-10-31[BRIDGE]: Use ether_compareStephen Hemminger1-4/+5
Use compare_ether_addr in bridge code. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo <acme@mandriva.com>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
