Conflicts: drivers/net/ethernet/emulex/benet/be_main.c drivers/net/ethernet/intel/igb/igb_main.c drivers/net/wireless/brcm80211/brcmsmac/mac80211_if.c include/net/scm.h net/batman-adv/routing.c net/ipv4/tcp_input.c The e{uid, gid} --> {uid, gid} credentials fix conflicted with the cleanup in net-next to now pass cred structs around. The be2net driver had a bug fix in 'net' that overlapped with the VLAN interface changes by Patrick McHardy in net-next. An IGB conflict existed because in 'net' the build_skb() support was reverted, and in 'net-next' there was a comment style fix within that code. Several batman-adv conflicts were resolved by making sure that all calls to batadv_is_my_mac() are changed to have a new bat_priv first argument. Eric Dumazet's TS ECR fix in TCP in 'net' conflicted with the F-RTO rewrite in 'net-next', mostly overlapping changes. Thanks to Stephen Rothwell and Antonio Quartulli for help with several of these merge resolutions. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-04-12net/802/mrp: fix possible race condition when calling mrp_pdu_queue()David Ward1-0/+4
(Adapted from a very similar change to net/802/garp.c by Cong Wang.) mrp_pdu_queue() should ways be called with the applicant spin lock. mrp_uninit_applicant() only holds the rtnl lock which is not enough; a race is possible because mrp_rcv() is called in BH context: mrp_rcv() |->mrp_pdu_parse_msg() |->mrp_pdu_parse_vecattr() |->mrp_pdu_parse_vecattr_event() |-> mrp_attr_event() |-> mrp_pdu_append_vecattr_event() |-> mrp_pdu_queue() Cc: Cong Wang <amwang@redhat.com> Cc: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David Ward <david.ward@ll.mit.edu> Acked-by: Cong Wang <amwang@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2013-04-07802: fix a possible race conditionCong Wang1-0/+4
(Resend with a better changelog) garp_pdu_queue() should ways be called with this spin lock. garp_uninit_applicant() only holds rtnl lock which is not enough here. A possible race can happen as garp_pdu_rcv() is called in BH context: garp_pdu_rcv() |->garp_pdu_parse_msg() |->garp_pdu_parse_attr() |-> garp_gid_event() Found by code inspection. 2012-05-15tokenring: delete all remaining driver supportPaul Gortmaker2-670/+0
This represents the mass deletion of the of the tokenring support. It gets rid of: - the net/tr.c which the drivers depended on - the drivers/net component - the Kbuild infrastructure around it - any tokenring related CONFIG_ settings in any defconfigs - the tokenring headers in the include/linux dir - the firmware associated with the tokenring drivers. - any associated token ring documentation. 2012-05-15net: delete all instances of special processing for token ringPaul Gortmaker2-3/+1
We are going to delete the Token ring support. This removes any special processing in the core networking for token ring, (aside from net/tr.c itself), leaving the drivers and remaining tokenring support present but inert. The mass removal of the drivers and net/tr.c will be in a separate commit, so that the history of these files that we still care about won't have the giant deletion tied into their history. This makes it a little less error prone by not exposing sysctls for the initial network namespace in other namespaces. 2012-04-13net/garp: fix GID rbtree orderingDavid Ward1-4/+4
The comparison operators were backwards in both garp_attr_lookup and garp_attr_create, so the entire GID rbtree was in reverse order. (There was no practical side effect to this though, except that PDUs were sent with attributes listed in reverse order, which is still valid by the protocol. This change is only for clarity.) 2012-04-01net/garp: avoid infinite loop if attribute already existsDavid Ward1-12/+10
An infinite loop occurred if garp_attr_create was called with the values of an existing attribute. This might happen if a previous leave request for the attribute has not yet been followed by a PDU transmission (or, if the application previously issued a join request for the attribute and is now issuing another one, without having issued a leave request). If garp_attr_create finds an existing attribute having the same values, return the address to it. Its state will then get updated (i.e., if it was in a leaving state, it will move into a non-leaving state and not get deleted during the next PDU transmission). To accomplish this fix, collapse garp_attr_insert into garp_attr_create (which is its only caller). Thanks to Jorge Boncompte [DTI2] <jorge@dti2.net> for contributing to this fix. 2010-03-30include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo6-0/+6
implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. I want to compile out proc_* and sysctl_* handlers totally and stub them to NULL depending on config options, however usage of & will prevent this, since taking adress of NULL pointer will break compilation. So, drop & in front of every ->proc_handler and every ->strategy handler, it was never needed in fact. Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2008-10-27net: convert print_mac to %pMJohannes Berg1-15/+7
This converts pretty much everything to print_mac. There were a few things that had conflicts which I have just dropped for now, no harm done. I've built an allyesconfig with this and looked at the files that weren't built very carefully, but it's a huge patch. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: David S. 2008-10-13net: Rationalise email address: Network Specific PartsAlan Cox1-1/+1
Clean up the various different email addresses of mine listed in the code to a single current and valid address. As Dave says his network merges for 2.6.28 are now done this seems a good point to send them in where they won't risk disrupting real changes. 2008-07-25list_for_each_rcu must die: networkingPaul E. McKenney1-3/+1
All uses of list_for_each_rcu() can be profitably replaced by the easier-to-use list_for_each_entry_rcu(). This patch makes this change for networking, in preparation for removing the list_for_each_rcu() API entirely. Acked-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net> Signed-off-by: Paul E. 2008-07-05net: Add GARP applicant-only participantPatrick McHardy3-0/+638
Add an implementation of the GARP (Generic Attribute Registration Protocol) applicant-only participant. This will be used by the following patch to add GVRP support to the VLAN code. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-07-05net: Add STP demux layerPatrick McHardy3-0/+106
Add small STP demux layer for demuxing STP PDUs based on MAC address. This is needed to run both GARP and STP in parallel (or even load the modules) since both use LLC_SAP_BSPAN. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-05-19rcu: split list.h and move rcu-protected lists into rculist.hFranck Bui-Huu1-0/+1
Move rcu-protected lists from list.h into a new header file rculist.h. This is done because list are a very used primitive structure all over the kernel and it's currently impossible to include other header files in this list.h without creating some circular dependencies. For example, list.h implements rcu-protected list and uses rcu_dereference() without including rcupdate.h. It actually compiles because users of rcu_dereference() are macros. Others RCU functions could be used too but aren't probably because of this. Therefore this patch creates rculist.h which includes rcupdates without to many changes/troubles.
