2015-07-23fs: Remove ext3 filesystem driverJan Kara1-72/+0
The functionality of ext3 is fully supported by ext4 driver. Major distributions (SUSE, RedHat) already use ext4 driver to handle ext3 filesystems for quite some time. There is some ugliness in mm resulting from jbd cleaning buffers in a dirty page without cleaning page dirty bit and also support for buffer bouncing in the block layer when stable pages are required is there only because of jbd. So let's remove the ext3 driver. This saves us some 28k lines of duplicated code. Acked-by: Theodore Ts'o <tytso@mit.edu> Signed-off-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz>

2011-07-25fs: take the ACL checks to common codeChristoph Hellwig1-2/+2
Replace the ->check_acl method with a ->get_acl method that simply reads an ACL from disk after having a cache miss. This means we can replace the ACL checking boilerplate code with a single implementation in namei.c. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

2009-09-08ext[234]: move over to 'check_acl' permission modelLinus Torvalds1-2/+2
Don't implement per-filesystem 'extX_permission()' functions that have to be called for every path component operation, and instead just expose the actual ACL checking so that the VFS layer can now do it for us. 2008-07-26[PATCH] sanitize ->permission() prototypeAl Viro1-1/+1
* kill nameidata * argument; map the 3 bits in ->flags anybody cares about to new MAY_... ones and pass with the mask. * kill redundant gfs2_iop_permission() * sanitize ecryptfs_permission() * fix remaining places where ->permission() instances might barf on new MAY_... found in mask. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
