2019-07-07SMB3.1.1: Add GCM crypto to the encrypt and decrypt functionsSteve French1-2/+8
SMB3.1.1 GCM performs much better than the older CCM default: more than twice as fast in the write patch (copy to the Samba server on localhost for example) and 80% faster on the read patch (copy from the server). 2019-03-04CIFS: Do not skip SMB2 message IDs on send failuresPavel Shilovsky1-2/+12
When we hit failures during constructing MIDs or sending PDUs through the network, we end up not using message IDs assigned to the packet. The next SMB packet will skip those message IDs and continue with the next one. This behavior may lead to a server not granting us credits until we use the skipped IDs. Fix this by reverting the current ID to the original value if any errors occur before we push the packet through the network stack. This patch fixes the generic/310 test from the xfs-tests. 2018-08-07smb3: simplify code by removing CONFIG_CIFS_SMB311Steve French1-4/+0
We really, really want to be encouraging use of secure dialects, and SMB3.1.1 offers useful security features, and will soon be the recommended dialect for many use cases. Simplify the code by removing the CONFIG_CIFS_SMB311 ifdef so users don't disable it in the build, and create compatibility and/or security issues with modern servers - many of which have been supporting this dialect for multiple years. Also clarify some of the Kconfig text for cifs.ko about SMB3.1.1 and current supported features in the module. 2018-07-05cifs: Fix use after free of a mid_q_entryLars Persson1-0/+1
With protocol version 2.0 mounts we have seen crashes with corrupt mid entries. Either the server->pending_mid_q list becomes corrupt with a cyclic reference in one element or a mid object fetched by the demultiplexer thread becomes overwritten during use. Code review identified a race between the demultiplexer thread and the request issuing thread. The demultiplexer thread seems to be written with the assumption that it is the sole user of the mid object until it calls the mid callback which either wakes the issuer task or deletes the mid. This assumption is not true because the issuer task can be woken up earlier by a signal. If the demultiplexer thread has proceeded as far as setting the mid_state to MID_RESPONSE_RECEIVED then the issuer thread will happily end up calling cifs_delete_mid while the demultiplexer thread still is using the mid object. Inserting a delay in the cifs demultiplexer thread widens the race window and makes reproduction of the race very easy: if (server->large_buf) buf = server->bigbuf; + usleep_range(500, 4000); server->lstrp = jiffies; To resolve this I think the proper solution involves putting a reference count on the mid object. This patch makes sure that the demultiplexer thread holds a reference until it has finished processing the transaction. 2018-06-04CIFS: Fix signing for SMB2/3Aurelien Aptel1-4/+8
It seems Ronnie's preamble removal broke signing. the signing functions are called when: A) we send a request (to sign it) B) when we recv a response (to check the signature). On code path A, the smb2 header is in iov[1] but on code path B, the smb2 header is in iov[0] (and there's only one vector). 2013-11-02cifs: Make big endian multiplex ID sequences monotonic on the wireTim Gardner1-1/+1
The multiplex identifier (MID) in the SMB header is only ever used by the client, in conjunction with PID, to match responses from the server. As such, the endianess of the MID is not important. However, When tracing packet sequences on the wire, protocol analyzers such as wireshark display MID as little endian. It is much more informative for the on-the-wire MID sequences to match debug information emitted by the CIFS driver. Therefore, one should write and read MID in the SMB header assuming it is always little endian. Observed from wireshark during the protocol negotiation and session setup: Multiplex ID: 256 Multiplex ID: 256 Multiplex ID: 512 Multiplex ID: 512 Multiplex ID: 768 Multiplex ID: 768 After this patch on-the-wire MID values begin at 1 and increase monotonically. 2013-06-26[CIFS] SMB3 Signing enablementSteve French1-2/+146
SMB3 uses a much faster method of signing (which is also better in other ways), AES-CMAC. With the kernel now supporting AES-CMAC since last release, we are overdue to allow SMB3 signing (today only CIFS and SMB2 and SMB2.1, but not SMB3 and SMB3.1 can sign) - and we need this also for checking secure negotation and also per-share encryption (two other new SMB3 features which we need to implement). This patch needs some work in a few areas - for example we need to move signing for SMB2/SMB3 from per-socket to per-user (we may be able to use the "nosharesock" mount option in the interim for the multiuser case), and Shirish found a bug in the earlier authentication overhaul (setting signing flags properly) - but those can be done in followon patches. 2013-06-24cifs: track the enablement of signing in the TCP_Server_InfoJeff Layton1-2/+1
Currently, we determine this according to flags in the sec_mode, flags in the global_secflags and via other methods. That makes the semantics very hard to follow and there are corner cases where we don't handle this correctly. Add a new bool to the TCP_Server_Info that acts as a simple flag to tell us whether signing is enabled on this connection or not, and fix up the places that need to determine this to use that flag. This is a bit weird for the SMB2 case, where signing is per-session. SMB2 needs work in this area already though. The existing SMB2 code has similar logic to what we're using here, so there should be no real change in behavior. These changes should make it easier to implement per-session signing in the future though.
