2013-09-08cifs: create a new Documentation/ directory and move docfiles into itJeff Layton1-129/+0
Currently, we have a number of documentation files that live under fs/cifs/. Generally, these don't get picked up by distro packagers, since they're in a non-standard location. Move them to a new spot under Documentation/ instead. Signed-off-by: Jeff Layton <jlayton@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Steve French <smfrench@gmail.com>

2008-05-20[CIFS] Enable DFS support for Unix query path infoSteve French1-7/+8
Final piece for handling DFS in unix_query_path_info, constructing a fake inode for the junction directory which the submount will cover. Acked-by: Igor Mammedov <niallain@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Steve French <sfrench@us.ibm.com>

2007-11-16[CIFS] Have CIFS_SessSetup build correct SPNEGO SessionSetup requestSteve French1-1/+1
Have CIFS_SessSetup call cifs_get_spnego_key when Kerberos is negotiated. Use the info in the key payload to build a session setup request packet. Also clean up how the request buffer in the function is freed on error. With appropriate user space helper (in samba/source/client). Kerberos support (secure session establishment can be done now via Kerberos, previously users would have to use NTLMv2 instead for more secure session setup). 2007-07-26[CIFS] Fix hang in find_writable_fileSteve French1-2/+1
Caused by unneeded reopen during reconnect while spinlock held. Fixes kernel bugzilla bug #7903 Thanks to Lin Feng Shen for testing this, and Amit Arora for some nice problem determination to narrow this down. 2007-04-30[CIFS] UID/GID override on CIFS mounts to SambaSteve French1-1/+1
When CIFS Unix Extensions are negotiated we get the Unix uid and gid owners of the file from the server (on the Unix Query Path Info levels), but if the server's uids don't match the client uid's users were having to disable the Unix Extensions (which turned off features they still wanted). The changeset patch allows users to override uid and/or gid for file/directory owner with a default uid and/or gid specified at mount (as is often done when mounting from Linux cifs client to Windows server). This changeset also displays the uid and gid used by default in /proc/mounts (if applicable). Also cleans up code by adding some of the missing spaces after "if" keywords per-kernel style guidelines (as suggested by Randy Dunlap when he reviewed the patch). 2007-02-27[CIFS] cifs export operationsSteve French1-9/+7
For nfsd to work over cifs mounts (which presumably makes sense when trying to reexport mounts to windows, network appliances or Samba servers to nfs clients via nfs server). This is the first stage of that enablement, marked experimental and turned off by default. Signed-off-by: Steve French <sfrench@us.ibm.com>
2007-02-14[CIFS] on reconnect to Samba - reset the unix capabilitiesSteve French1-0/+8
After temporary server or network failure and reconneciton, we were not resending the unix capabilities via SetFSInfo - which confused Samba posix byte range locking code. Discovered by jra Signed-off-by: Steve French <sfrench@us.ibm.com>
2005-11-29[CIFS] Fix missing permission check on setattr when noperm mount option isSteve French1-2/+2
disabled. Also set mode, uid, gid better on mkdir and create for the case when Unix Extensions is not enabled and setuids is enabled. This is necessary to fix the hole in which chown could be allowed for non-root users in some cases if root mounted, and also to display the mode and uid properly in some cases. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
