2014-04-17video: move fbdev to drivers/video/fbdevTomi Valkeinen1-1611/+0
The drivers/video directory is a mess. It contains generic video related files, directories for backlight, console, linux logo, lots of fbdev device drivers, fbdev framework files. Make some order into the chaos by creating drivers/video/fbdev directory, and move all fbdev related files there. No functionality is changed, although I guess it is possible that some subtle Makefile build order related issue could be created by this patch. 2014-02-11tgafb: avoid restriction on modes with line length not a multiple of 64Mikulas Patocka1-3/+3
In tgafb there is a restriction that prevents the user from setting a videomode with line length not a multiple of 64 bytes (for example, 800x600 is not allowed). The reason for this restriction it that functions copyarea_line_8bpp and copyarea_line_32bpp can not handle a line length that is not a multiple of 64 bytes. This patch removes this restriction on mode setting and makes sure that the functions copyarea_line_8bpp and copyarea_line_32bpp are called only if line length is a multiple of 64 bytes. If we set a mode 800x600, the functions copyarea_line_8bpp and copyarea_line_32bpp are not used, generic functions for copying are used instead and it works just fine. 2014-02-11tgafb: fix data copyingMikulas Patocka1-213/+51
The functions for data copying copyarea_foreward_8bpp and copyarea_backward_8bpp are buggy, they produce screen corruption. This patch fixes the functions and moves the logic to one function "copyarea_8bpp". For simplicity, the function only handles copying that is aligned on 8 pixes. If we copy an unaligned area, generic function cfb_copyarea is used. 2014-02-11tgafb: fix mode setting with fbsetMikulas Patocka1-4/+14
Mode setting in the TGA driver is broken for these reasons: - info->fix.line_length is set just once in tgafb_init_fix function. If we change videomode, info->fix.line_length is not recalculated - so the video mode is changed but the screen is corrupted because of wrong info->fix.line_length. - info->fix.smem_len is set in tgafb_init_fix to the size of the default video mode (640x480). If we set a higher resolution, info->fix.smem_len is smaller than the current screen size, preventing the userspace program from mapping the framebuffer. This patch fixes it: - info->fix.line_length initialization is moved to tgafb_set_par so that it is recalculated with each mode change. - info->fix.smem_len is set to a fixed value representing the real amount of video ram (the values are taken from xfree86 driver). - add a check to tgafb_check_var to prevent us from setting a videomode that doesn't fit into videoram. - in tgafb_register, tgafb_init_fix is moved upwards, to be called before fb_find_mode (because fb_find_mode already needs the videoram size set in tgafb_init_fix). 2013-01-03Drivers: video: remove __dev* attributes.Greg Kroah-Hartman1-27/+18
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed. This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers. 2010-03-30include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo1-1/+0
implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. 2007-10-16tgafb: remove a redundant non-mono test in mono imageblitMaciej W. Rozycki1-9/+0
There is a test in tgafb_mono_imageblit() for a colour image with a fall-back to cfb_imageblit(). The test is not necessary as the only caller, which is tgafb_imageblit(), checks it too and only invokes this function for monochrome images. It looks like a left-over from before some changes to tgafb_imageblit(). Signed-off-by: Maciej W. 2007-10-16tgafb: fix an out-of-range shift in mono imageblitMaciej W. Rozycki1-3/+8
The pixel mask calculation in tgafb_mono_imageblit() uses a variable left-shift on a 32-bit data type by up to 32. Shifting by the width of a data type or more produces an unpredictable result according to the C standard. Rather than widening the data type this fix makes sure the count is between 0 and 31. The reason is not to penalise 32-bit platforms with operation on a "long long" type for a marginal case that is meant not to happen (blitting an image of a zero width). The reason it has escaped for so long is the Alpha, being purely 64-bit, :-) does not mask the shift out to 32 bits. This is a valid implementation -- producing the correct result certainly falls within "unpredictable behaviour". It does trigger on MIPS though and it is the recent merge of the TC support which only enabled the driver for use on anything other than the Alpha. For MIPS when the width is 32 the mask ends up being 0 rather than 0xffffffff as it should be and the frame buffer is not updated. Signed-off-by: Maciej W. 2007-07-11PCI: Change all drivers to use pci_device->revisionAuke Kok1-2/+1
Instead of all drivers reading pci config space to get the revision ID, they can now use the pci_device->revision member. This exposes some issues where drivers where reading a word or a dword for the revision number, and adding useless error-handling around the read. Some drivers even just read it for no purpose of all. In devices where the revision ID is being copied over and used in what appears to be the equivalent of hotpath, I have left the copy code and the cached copy as not to influence the driver's performance. 2007-02-14[PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau1-1/+0
After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files). 2005-11-07[PATCH] fbcon/fbdev: Move softcursor out of fbdev to fbconAntonino A. Daplas1-1/+0
According to Jon Smirl, filling in the field fb_cursor with soft_cursor for drivers that do not support hardware cursors is redundant. The soft_cursor function is usable by all drivers because it is just a wrapper around fb_imageblit. And because soft_cursor is an fbcon-specific hook, the file is moved to the console directory. Thus, drivers that do not support hardware cursors can leave the fb_cursor field blank. For drivers that do, they can fill up this field with their own version. The end result is a smaller code size. And if the framebuffer console is not loaded, module/kernel size is also reduced because the soft_cursor module will also not be loaded. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
