2014-07-10tty: serial: msm: Support big-endian CPUsStephen Boyd1-10/+18
To support big-endian CPUs use the string versions of the io read/write macros on the TX/RX fifos and the non-raw variants of the readl/writel macros throughout. This way we don't byteswap the characters coming from the fifos but we properly deal with the little-endian nature of the serial hardware while controlling it. 2014-06-19serial: Fix IGNBRK handlingPeter Hurley1-1/+1
If IGNBRK is set without either BRKINT or PARMRK set, some uart drivers send a 0x00 byte for BREAK without the TTYBREAK flag to the line discipline, when it should send either nothing or the TTYBREAK flag set. This happens because the read_status_mask masks out the BI condition, which uart_insert_char() then interprets as a normal 0x00 byte. SUS v3 is clear regarding the meaning of IGNBRK; Section 11.2.2, General Terminal Interface - Input Modes, states: "If IGNBRK is set, a break condition detected on input shall be ignored; that is, not put on the input queue and therefore not read by any process." Fix read_status_mask to include the BI bit if IGNBRK is set; the lsr status retains the BI bit if a BREAK is recv'd, which is subsequently ignored in uart_insert_char() when masked with the ignore_status_mask. 2013-08-27msm_serial: Switch clock consumer strings and simplify codeStephen Boyd1-14/+5
In downstream kernel we've standardized the clock consumer names that MSM device drivers use. Replace the uart specific clock names in this driver with the more standard 'core' and 'iface' names. Also simplify the code by assuming that clk_prepare_enable and clk_disable_unprepare() will properly check for NULL pointers (it will because MSM uses the common clock framework). 2013-07-26msm_serial: Send more than 1 character at a time on UARTDMStephen Boyd1-19/+32
UARTDM cores have a TX fifo that can accept more than one character per register write, but the msm_serial driver currently only supports 1 character mode. Add support for this mode of operation to speed up the transmit path on DM devices. 2013-07-26msm_serial: Make baud_code detection more dynamicStephen Boyd1-54/+44
Currently msm_set_baud_rate() assumes the uart clock rate is 1.8432 MHz. This is not always true, and limits our options to program the baud rate. Instead of assuming the rate and hard-coding the baud_code based on it, calculate the divider that we want and try to find the closest baud_code that matches. This allows us to support uarts with faster clock speeds. 2013-07-26msm_serial: Fix NUL byte output on UARTDMStephen Boyd1-5/+9
UARTDM serial devices require us to wait for the entire TX fifo to drain before we can change the contents of the NCF_TX register. Furthermore, if we write any characters to the TX fifo within the same clock cycle of changing the NCF_TX register the NCF_TX register won't latch properly. To fix these issues we should read back the NCF_TX register to delay any TX fifo accesses by a clock cycle and we should wait for the TX fifo to drain (instead of just waiting for the fifo to be ready to receive more characters). Failure to do so leads to random NUL bytes interspersed in the output. 2013-06-24msm_serial: Use devm_clk_get() and properly return errorsStephen Boyd1-9/+12
Clocks are not clk_put() in this driver's error paths during probe. The code that checks for clock errors also fails to properly return the error code from the pclk member if it turns out to be the failing clock, leading to potentially confusing error values if the clk member is not an error pointer. Fix these problems with devm_clk_get() and proper error checking. Removing the clk_put() in msm_serial_remove() also points out that msm_port is unused. Furthermore, msm_port is the wrong type and so the clk_put() would be using the wrong pointer. Replace it with the proper type and call uart_remove_one_port() to do the proper cleanup. Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more tty_port_tty_get in those paths. Now, the one where most of tty_port_tty_get gets removed: tty_flip_buffer_push. IOW we also closed all the races in drivers not using tty_port_tty_get at all yet. Also we move tty_flip_buffer_push declaration from include/linux/tty.h to include/linux/tty_flip.h to all others while we are changing it anyway. The driver explicitly requests a clock rate for the UART, but it is off by a factor of four from the dividers that it programs into the UART. Fix this by setting the rate to 1/4 of the current value. Device tree iomem resources are only accessible by index, and not by name. The msm_serial devices always have either 1 or 2 iomem resources, that are always in the same order. Convert the platform_get_resource_byname into just platform_get_resource to facilitate device tree conversion.
