2013-10-17tty/serial: at91: add a fallback option to determine uart/usart propertyNicolas Ferre1-1/+18
On older SoC, the "name" field is not filled in the register map. Fix the way to figure out if the serial port is an uart or an usart for these older products (with corresponding properties). 2013-10-17tty/serial: at91: fix uart/usart selection for older productsNicolas Ferre1-7/+2
Since commit 055560b04a8cd063aea916fd083b7aec02c2adb8 (serial: at91: distinguish usart and uart) the older products which do not have a name field in their register map are unable to use their serial output. As the main console output is usually the serial interface (aka DBGU) it is pretty unfortunate. So, instead of failing during probe() we just silently configure the serial peripheral as an uart. It allows us to use these serial outputs. The proper solution is proposed in another patch. 2013-07-29serial: at91: support run time switch transfer modeElen Song1-59/+80
We will switch to pio mode when request of dma or pdc fail. But soon or later, when the request is success, the transfer mode can switch to them at next open serial port action. So in startup stage, we should get original transfer mode. Signed-off-by: Elen Song <elen.song@atmel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2013-07-29serial: at91: add rx dma supportElen Song1-4/+220
Request a cyclic dma channel for rx dma use. Use cyclic transfer is to prevent receive data overrun. We allocate a cycle dma cookie after request channel, after that, enable uart timeout interrupt in startup stage, when data successful received, the timeout callback will check the residual bytes and insert receiving datas into the framework during the transfer interval. When current descriptor finished, the dma callback will also check the residual bytes and filp the receiving data. 2013-01-15TTY: switch tty_flip_buffer_pushJiri Slaby1-3/+2
Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more tty_port_tty_get in those paths. Now, the one where most of tty_port_tty_get gets removed: tty_flip_buffer_push. IOW we also closed all the races in drivers not using tty_port_tty_get at all yet. Also we move tty_flip_buffer_push declaration from include/linux/tty.h to include/linux/tty_flip.h to all others while we are changing it anyway. 2012-04-09tty/serial: atmel_serial: fix RS485 half-duplex problemSiftar, Gabe1-0/+4
On our custom board, we are using RS485 in half-duplex mode on an AT91SAM9G45. SER_RS485_RX_DURING_TX is not set as we do not want to receive the data we transmit (our transceiver will receive transmitted data). Although the current driver attempts to disable and enable the receiver at the appropriate points, incoming data is still loaded into the receive register causing our code to receive the very last byte that was sent once the receiver is enabled. I ran this by Atmel support and they wrote: "The issue comes from the fact that you disable the PDC/DMA Reception and not the USART Reception channel. In your case, the[n] you will still receive data into the USART_RHR register, and maybe you [h]ave the overrun flag set. So please disable the USART reception channel." The following patch should force the driver to enable/disable the receiver via RXEN/RXDIS fields of the USART control register. It fixed the issue I was having. 2011-11-15RS485: fix inconsistencies in the meaning of some variablesClaudio Scordino1-13/+3
The crisv10.c and the atmel_serial.c serial drivers intepret the fields of the serial_rs485 structure in a different way. In particular, crisv10.c uses SER_RS485_RTS_AFTER_SEND and SER_RS485_RTS_ON_SEND for the voltage of the RTS pin; atmel_serial.c, instead, uses these values to know if a delay must be set before and after sending. This patch makes the usage of these variables consistent across all drivers and fixes the Documentation as well. From now on, SER_RS485_RTS_AFTER_SEND and SER_RS485_RTS_ON_SEND will be used to set the voltage of the RTS pin (as in the crisv10.c driver); the delay will be understood by looking only at the value of delay_rts_before_send and delay_rts_after_send. 2011-08-24atmel_serial: RS485: receiving enabled when sending dataBernhard Roth1-3/+6
By default the atmel_serial driver in RS485 mode disables receiving data until all data in the send buffer has been sent. This flag allows to receive data even whilst sending data. 2011-01-13tty: move drivers/serial/ to drivers/tty/serial/Greg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1808
The serial drivers are really just tty drivers, so move them to drivers/tty/ to make things a bit neater overall. This is part of the tty/serial driver movement proceedure as proposed by Arnd Bergmann and approved by everyone involved a number of months ago.
