Allow more drivers to be compile tested more easily, for example, when doing subsystem-wide changes. Verified on X86_64 as well as arm, powerpc and m68k with minimal configs in order to catch missing implicit build dependencies (e.g. MAILBOX for SERIAL_TEGRA_TCU). 2021-03-10tty: serial: samsung_tty: Add support for Apple UARTsHector Martin1-1/+1
Apple SoCs are a distant descendant of Samsung designs and use yet another variant of their UART style, with different interrupt handling. In particular, this variant has the following differences with existing ones: * It includes a built-in interrupt controller with different registers, using only a single platform IRQ * Internal interrupt sources are treated as edge-triggered, even though the IRQ output is level-triggered. This chiefly affects the TX IRQ path: the driver can no longer rely on the TX buffer empty IRQ immediately firing after TX is enabled, but instead must prime the FIFO with data directly. 2021-01-26serial: ifx6x60: Remove driver for deprecated platformAndy Shevchenko1-7/+0
Intel Moorestown and Medfield are quite old Intel Atom based 32-bit platforms, which were in limited use in some Android phones, tablets and consumer electronics more than eight years ago. There are no bugs or problems ever reported outside from Intel for breaking any of that platforms for years. It seems no real users exists who run more or less fresh kernel on it. The commit 05f4434bc130 ("ASoC: Intel: remove mfld_machine") also in align with this theory. Due to above and to reduce a burden of supporting outdated drivers we remove the support of outdated platforms completely. 2020-11-06tty: serial: imx: enable earlycon by default if IMX_SERIAL_CONSOLE is enabledLucas Stach1-0/+1
Since 699cc4dfd140 (tty: serial: imx: add imx earlycon driver), the earlycon part of imx serial is a separate driver and isn't necessarily enabled anymore when the console is enabled. This causes users to loose the earlycon functionality when upgrading their kenrel configuration via oldconfig. Enable earlycon by default when IMX_SERIAL_CONSOLE is enabled. aarch64-linux-gnu-ld: drivers/tty/serial/imx_earlycon.o: in function `imx_uart_console_early_write': imx_earlycon.c:(.text+0x84): undefined reference to `uart_console_write' The driver uses the uart_console_write(), but SERIAL_CORE_CONSOLE is not selected, so uart_console_write is not defined, then we get the error. Fix this by selecting SERIAL_CORE_CONSOLE. This is mostly Arnd Bergmann work which Krzysztof Kozlowski took over, rebased and polished. The goal is to cleanup, merge and finally make the Samsung S3C24xx and S3C64xx architectures multiplatform. The multiplatform did not happen yet here - just cleaning up and merging into one arch/arm/mach-s3c directory. However this is step forward for multiplatform or at least to keep this code still maintainable. Since commit 84af7a6194e4 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over '---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances. This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines, I also fixed the indentation. 2020-05-15tty: serial: Add modem control gpio support for STM32 UARTManivannan Sadhasivam1-0/+1
STM32 UART controllers have the built in modem control support using dedicated gpios which can be enabled using 'st,hw-flow-ctrl' flag in DT. But there might be cases where the board design need to use different gpios for modem control. The TI Davinci and NXP LPC32xx platforms on the other hand are still in active use and are converted to the ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM build, meaning that we can compile a kernel that works on these along with most other ARMv5 platforms. Changes toward that goal are also merged for IOP32x, but additional work is needed to complete this. Patches for the remaining ARMv5 platforms have started but need more work and some testing. Support for the new ASpeed AST2600 gets added, this is based on the Cortex-A7 ARMv7 core, and is a newer version of the existing ARMv5 and ARMv6 chips in the same family.
