For the s626 driver, there is a bug in the handling of asynchronous
commands on the AI subdevice when the stop source is `TRIG_NONE`. The
command should run continuously until cancelled, but the interrupt
handler stops the command running after the first scan.
The command set-up function `s626_ai_cmd()` contains this code:
switch (cmd->stop_src) {
case TRIG_COUNT:
/* data arrives as one packet */
devpriv->ai_sample_count = cmd->stop_arg;
devpriv->ai_continous = 0;
break;
case TRIG_NONE:
/* continous acquisition */
devpriv->ai_continous = 1;
devpriv->ai_sample_count = 0;
break;
}
The interrupt handler `s626_irq_handler()` contains this code:
if (!(devpriv->ai_continous))
devpriv->ai_sample_count--;
if (devpriv->ai_sample_count <= 0) {
devpriv->ai_cmd_running = 0;
/* ... */
}
So `devpriv->ai_sample_count` is only decremented for the `TRIG_COUNT`
case, but `devpriv->ai_cmd_running` is set to 0 (and the command
stopped) regardless.
Fix this in `s626_ai_cmd()` by setting `devpriv->ai_sample_count = 1`
for the `TRIG_NONE` case. The interrupt handler will not decrement it
so it will remain greater than 0 and the check for stopping the
acquisition will fail.

idr_get_new*() and friends are about to be deprecated. Convert to the
new idr_alloc() interface.
There are some peculiarities and possible bugs in the converted
functions. This patch preserves those.
* drv_insert_node_res_element() returns -ENOMEM on alloc failure,
-EFAULT if id space is exhausted. -EFAULT is at best misleading.
* drv_proc_insert_strm_res_element() is even weirder. It returns
-EFAULT if kzalloc() fails, -ENOMEM if idr preloading fails and
-EPERM if id space is exhausted. What's going on here?
* drv_proc_insert_strm_res_element() doesn't free *pstrm_res after
failure.

As pointed out by Dan Carpenper in
<http://driverdev.linuxdriverproject.org/pipermail/devel/2013-February/036025.html>,
the dt9812 comedi driver's use of the `chanspec` member of `struct
comedi_insn` as a channel number is incorrect. Change it to use
`CR_CHAN(insn->chanspec)` as the channel number (where `insn` is a
pointer to the `struct comedi_insn` being processed).

If the bootloader already enabled the display, the interrupt handler
will be called as soon as it is registered. If the CRTC is not already
added at this time, the call to imx_drm_handle_vblank will result in
a NULL pointer dereference.
The patch fixes a kernel panic [1], which has been on linux-next since
Jan 8 [2].

Modify the request_module to prefix the file system type with "fs-"
and add aliases to all of the filesystems that can be built as modules
to match.
A common practice is to build all of the kernel code and leave code
that is not commonly needed as modules, with the result that many
users are exposed to any bug anywhere in the kernel.
Looking for filesystems with a fs- prefix limits the pool of possible
modules that can be loaded by mount to just filesystems trivially
making things safer with no real cost.
Using aliases means user space can control the policy of which
filesystem modules are auto-loaded by editing /etc/modprobe.d/*.conf
with blacklist and alias directives. Allowing simple, safe,
well understood work-arounds to known problematic software.
This also addresses a rare but unfortunate problem where the filesystem
name is not the same as it's module name and module auto-loading
would not work. While writing this patch I saw a handful of such
cases. The most significant being autofs that lives in the module
autofs4.
This is relevant to user namespaces because we can reach the request
module in get_fs_type() without having any special permissions, and
people get uncomfortable when a user specified string (in this case
the filesystem type) goes all of the way to request_module.
After having looked at this issue I don't think there is any
particular reason to perform any filtering or permission checks beyond
making it clear in the module request that we want a filesystem
module. The common pattern in the kernel is to call request_module()
without regards to the users permissions. In general all a filesystem
module does once loaded is call register_filesystem() and go to sleep.
Which means there is not much attack surface exposed by loading a
filesytem module unless the filesystem is mounted. In a user
namespace filesystems are not mounted unless .fs_flags = FS_USERNS_MOUNT,
which most filesystems do not set today.

etc), fixup for nommu breakage in shmem.c, several cleanups and a bit
more file_inode() work"

(In the meantime, the hlist traversal macros have changed, so this
required a semantic conflict fixup for the newly hlistified fid->dlist)
|

I'm not sure why, but the hlist for each entry iterators were conceived
list_for_each_entry(pos, head, member)
The hlist ones were greedy and wanted an extra parameter:
hlist_for_each_entry(tpos, pos, head, member)
Why did they need an extra pos parameter? I'm not quite sure. Not only
they don't really need it, it also prevents the iterator from looking
exactly like the list iterator, which is unfortunate.
Besides the semantic patch, there was some manual work required:
- Fix up the actual hlist iterators in linux/list.h
- Fix up the declaration of other iterators based on the hlist ones.
- A very small amount of places were using the 'node' parameter, this
was modified to use 'obj->member' instead.
- Coccinelle didn't handle the hlist_for_each_entry_safe iterator
properly, so those had to be fixed up manually.
The semantic patch which is mostly the work of Peter Senna Tschudin is here:

The function names page_xchg_last_nid(), page_last_nid() and
reset_page_last_nid() were judged to be inconsistent so rename them to a
struct_field_op style pattern. As it looked jarring to have
reset_page_mapcount() and page_nid_reset_last() beside each other in
memmap_init_zone(), this patch also renames reset_page_mapcount() to
page_mapcount_reset(). There are others like init_page_count() but as
it is used throughout the arch code a rename would likely cause more
conflicts than it is worth.

Pull irq core changes from Ingo Molnar:
"The biggest changes are the IRQ-work and printk changes from Frederic
Weisbecker, which prepare the code for 'full dynticks' (the ability to
stop or slow down the periodic tick arbitrarily, not just in idle time
as today):
- Don't stop tick with irq works pending. This fix is generally
useful and concerns archs that can't raise self IPIs.
- Flush irq works before CPU offlining.
- Introduce "lazy" irq works that can wait for the next tick to be
executed, unless it's stopped.
- Implement klogd wake up using irq work. This removes the ad-hoc
printk_tick()/printk_needs_cpu() hooks and make it working even in
dynticks mode.
- Cleanups and fixes."

For Velleman K8055 (aka VM110), `vmk80xx_read_packet()` and
`vmk8055_write_packet()` send an URB asynchronously and do not wait for
it complete. However, callers of `vmk80xx_read_packet()` are assuming
the contents of the data buffer `devpriv->usb_rx_buf` are valid
immediately after that function returns.
For Velleman K8061 (aka VM140), `vmk80xx_read_packet()` and
`vmk80xx_write_packet()` punt the requests to `vmk80xx_do_bulk_msg()`
which *does* wait for the URBs to complete (albeit with no error
checking!).
Change `vmk80xx_read_packet()` and `vmk80xx_write_packet()` to use
`usb_interrupt_msg()` for the K8055, so the callers of
`vmk80xx_read_packet()` can assume the data buffer contents are valid
(if no error occurred). Remove all the code for checking for transfers
in progress and busy waiting, as it's no longer needed. Pretty much all
the callers of `vmk80xx_read_packet()` and `vmk80xx_write_packet()` hold
the same semaphore anyway, and the only caller that doesn't
(`vmk80xx_reset_device()` called during initialization of the device)
doesn't really matter.

Added power management capabilities into the omapdrm and DMM drivers.
During suspend, we don't need to do anything to maintain the state of
the LUT. We have all the necessary information to recreate the mappings
of the GEM object list maintained by the omapdrm driver.
On resume, the DMM resume handler will first reprogram the LUT to point
to the dummy page. The subsequent resume handler in the omapdrm will call
into the DMM and reprogram each of the buffer objects. This will ensure
that all of the necessary objects will be pinned into the DMM properly.
Order of suspend/resume handlers is done by device creation. We create
the DMM device before the omapdrm, so the correct order is maintained.
