2022-03-18media: Kconfig: cleanup VIDEO_DEV dependenciesMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+1
media Kconfig has two entries associated to V4L API: VIDEO_DEV and VIDEO_V4L2. On Kernel 2.6.x, there were two V4L APIs, each one with its own flag. VIDEO_DEV were meant to: 1) enable Video4Linux and make its Kconfig options to appear; 2) it makes the Kernel build the V4L core. while VIDEO_V4L2 where used to distinguish between drivers that implement the newer API and drivers that implemented the former one. With time, such meaning changed, specially after the removal of all V4L version 1 drivers. At the current implementation, VIDEO_DEV only does (1): it enables the media options related to V4L, that now has: menu "Video4Linux options" visible if VIDEO_DEV source "drivers/media/v4l2-core/Kconfig" endmenu but it doesn't affect anymore the V4L core drivers. The rationale is that the V4L2 core has a "soft" dependency at the I2C bus, and now requires to select a number of other Kconfig options: config VIDEO_V4L2 tristate depends on (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV select RATIONAL select VIDEOBUF2_V4L2 if VIDEOBUF2_CORE default (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV In the past, merging them would be tricky, but it seems that it is now possible to merge those symbols, in order to simplify V4L dependencies. Let's keep VIDEO_DEV, as this one is used on some make *defconfig configurations. 2022-02-22media: cedrus: h264: Fix neighbour info buffer sizeJernej Skrabec1-1/+1
According to BSP library source, H264 neighbour info buffer size needs to be 32 kiB for H6. This is similar to H265 decoding, which also needs double buffer size in comparison to older Cedrus core generations. Increase buffer size to cover H6 needs. Since increase is not that big in absolute numbers, it doesn't make sense to complicate logic for older generations. Issue was discovered using iommu and cross checked with BSP library source. 2022-01-23media: hevc: Remove RPS named flagsBenjamin Gaignard1-1/+1
Marking a picture as long-term reference is valid for DPB but not for RPS. Change flag name to match with the description in HEVC spec chapter "8.3.2 Decoding process for reference picture set". PocStCurrBefore, PocStCurrAfter, PocLtCurr lists could be built by the kernel from the DPB entries struct v4l2_hevc_dpb_entry, using the information in the rps field. This way RPS flags becomes useless and are removed. This patch breaks the staging HEVC API because it introduces a new flag, changes a field name in v4l2_hevc_dpb_entry structure and removes V4L2_HEVC_DPB_ENTRY_RPS_* flags. Except for VP8 probability coefficients buffer, all other buffers are never accessed by CPU. That allows us to mark them with DMA_ATTR_NO_KERNEL_MAPPING flag. This helps with decoding big (like 4k) videos on 32-bit ARM platforms where default vmalloc size is relatively small - 240 MiB. Since auxiliary buffer are not yet efficiently allocated, this can be easily exceeded. Even if allocation is optimized, 4k videos will still often exceed this limit. 2021-05-23media: uapi: mpeg2: Remove V4L2_CID_MPEG_VIDEO_MPEG2_SLICE_PARAMSEzequiel Garcia4-11/+0
The Hantro and Cedrus drivers work in frame-mode, meaning they expect all the slices in a picture (either frame or field structure) to be passed in each OUTPUT buffer. These two are the only V4L2 MPEG-2 stateless decoders currently supported. Given the VA-API drivers also work per-frame, coalescing all the MPEG-2 slices in a buffer before the decoding operation, it makes sense to not expect slice-mode drivers and therefore remove V4L2_CID_MPEG_VIDEO_MPEG2_SLICE_PARAMS. This is done to avoid carrying an unused interface. If needed, this control can be added without breaking backwards compatibility. Note that this would mean introducing a enumerator control to specify the decoding mode (see V4L2_CID_STATELESS_H264_DECODE_MODE). 2021-05-23media: hantro/cedrus: Remove unneeded slice size and slice offsetEzequiel Garcia1-4/+3
The MPEG2_SLICE_PARAMS control is designed to refer to a single slice. However, the Hantro and Cedrus drivers operate in per-frame mode, and so does the current Ffmpeg and GStreamer implementations that are tested with these two drivers. In other words, the drivers are expecting all the slices in a picture (with either frame or field structure) to be contained in the OUTPUT buffer, which means the slice size and offset shouldn't be used. 2021-05-23media: uapi: mpeg2: Split sequence and picture parametersEzequiel Garcia4-4/+22
Typically, bitstreams are composed of a sequence header, followed by a number of picture header and picture coding extension headers. Each picture can be composed of a number of slices. Let's split the MPEG-2 uAPI to follow these semantics more closely, allowing more usage flexibility. Having these controls split up allows applications to set a sequence control at the beginning of a sequence, and then set a picture control for each frame. While here add padding fields where needed, and document the uAPI header thoroughly. Note that the V4L2_CTRL_TYPE_{} defines had to be moved because it clashes with existing ones. This is not really an issue since they will be re-defined when the controls are moved out of staging. 2021-05-23media: uapi: mpeg2: rework quantisation matrices semanticsEzequiel Garcia1-36/+2
As stated in the MPEG-2 specification, section 6.3.7 "Quant matrix extension": Each quantisation matrix has a default set of values. When a sequence_header_code is decoded all matrices shall be reset to their default values. User defined matrices may be downloaded and this can occur in a sequence_header() or in a quant_matrix_extension(). The load_intra_quantiser_matrix syntax elements are transmitted in the bitstream headers, signalling that a quantisation matrix needs to be loaded and used for pictures transmitted afterwards (until the matrices are reset). This "load" semantics are implemented in the V4L2 interface without the need of any "load" flags: passing the control is effectively a load. Therefore, rework the V4L2_CID_MPEG_VIDEO_MPEG2_QUANTISATION semantics to match the MPEG-2 semantics. Quantisation matrices values are now initialized by the V4L2 control core to their reset default value, and applications are expected to reset their values as specified. The quantisation control is therefore optional, and used to load bitstream-defined values in the quantisation matrices. 2020-12-07media: cedrus: Make VP8 codec as capabilityJernej Skrabec3-9/+20
Commit 31d9b9ef8564 ("media: cedrus: Register all codecs as capability") makes separate capability flags for each codec. However, VP8 codec was merged at the same time as mentioned patch, so there is no capability flag for it. This patch adds capability flag for VP8 and enables it for all variants except for V3s. 2020-12-03media: uapi: move H264 stateless controls out of stagingEzequiel Garcia2-18/+18
The H.264 stateless 'uAPI' was staging and marked explicitly in the V4L2 specification that it will change and is unstable. Note that these control IDs were never exported as a public API, they were only defined in kernel-local headers (h264-ctrls.h). Now, the H264 stateless controls is ready to be part of the stable uAPI. While not too late, let's rename them and re-number their control IDs, moving them to the newly created stateless control class, and updating all the drivers accordingly. 2020-12-03media: cedrus: Add support for VP8 decodingJernej Skrabec8-1/+1037
VP8 in Cedrus shares same engine as H264. Note that it seems necessary to call bitstream parsing functions, to parse frame header, otherwise decoded image is garbage. This is contrary to what is driver supposed to do. However, values are not really used, so this might be acceptable. It's possible that bitstream parsing functions set some internal VPU state, which is later necessary for proper decoding. Biggest suspect is "VP8 probs update" trigger. 2020-09-17dma-mapping: introduce DMA range map, supplanting dma_pfn_offsetJim Quinlan1-2/+8
The new field 'dma_range_map' in struct device is used to facilitate the use of single or multiple offsets between mapping regions of cpu addrs and dma addrs. It subsumes the role of "dev->dma_pfn_offset" which was only capable of holding a single uniform offset and had no region bounds checking. The function of_dma_get_range() has been modified so that it takes a single argument -- the device node -- and returns a map, NULL, or an error code. The map is an array that holds the information regarding the DMA regions. Each range entry contains the address offset, the cpu_start address, the dma_start address, and the size of the region. of_dma_configure() is the typical manner to set range offsets but there are a number of ad hoc assignments to "dev->dma_pfn_offset" in the kernel driver code. These cases now invoke the function dma_direct_set_offset(dev, cpu_addr, dma_addr, size).
