2020-05-15PNPBIOS: Replace zero-length array with flexible-arrayGustavo A. R. Silva1-1/+1
The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this change: "Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1] sizeof(flexible-array-member) triggers a warning because flexible array members have incomplete type[1]. There are some instances of code in which the sizeof operator is being incorrectly/erroneously applied to zero-length arrays and the result is zero. Such instances may be hiding some bugs. So, this work (flexible-array member conversions) will also help to get completely rid of those sorts of issues. This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle. 2008-04-29PNPBIOS: remove include/linux/pnpbios.hBjorn Helgaas1-0/+136
The contents of include/linux/pnpbios.h are used only inside the PNPBIOS backend, so this file doesn't need to be visible outside PNP. This patch moves the contents into an existing PNPBIOS-specific file, drivers/pnp/pnpbios/pnpbios.h. 2008-04-29PNP: remove more pnp_resource_table argumentsBjorn Helgaas1-2/+2
Stop passing around struct pnp_resource_table pointers. In most cases, the caller doesn't need to know how the resources are stored inside the struct pnp_dev. 2005-09-07[PATCH] pnp: consolidate kmalloc wrappersBjorn Helgaas1-1/+0
ISAPNP, PNPBIOS, and PNPACPI all had their own kmalloc wrappers that reimplemented kcalloc(). Remove the wrappers and just use kcalloc() directly. Note that this also removes the PNPBIOS error message when the kmalloc fails. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
