2016-05-20libnvdimm, dax: autodetect supportDan Williams1-0/+1
For autodetecting a previously established dax configuration we need the info block to indicate block-device vs device-dax mode, and we need to have the default namespace probe hand-off the configuration to the dax_pmem driver. Signed-off-by: Dan Williams <dan.j.williams@intel.com>
2016-05-09libnvdimm, dax: record the specified alignment of a dax-device instanceDan Williams1-1/+3
We want to use the alignment as the allocation and mapping unit. Previously this information was only useful for establishing the data offset, but now it is important to remember the granularity for the later use. Signed-off-by: Dan Williams <dan.j.williams@intel.com>
2016-03-05libnvdimm, pmem: adjust for section collisions with 'System RAM'Dan Williams1-2/+8
On a platform where 'Persistent Memory' and 'System RAM' are mixed within a given sparsemem section, trim the namespace and notify about the sub-optimal alignment. 2016-03-05libnvdimm, pmem: fix 'pfn' support for section-misaligned namespacesDan Williams1-0/+13
The altmap for a section-misaligned namespace needs to arrange for the base_pfn to be section-aligned. As a result the 'reserve' region (pfns from base that do not have a struct page) must be increased. Otherwise we trip the altmap validation check in __add_pages: if (altmap->base_pfn != phys_start_pfn || vmem_altmap_offset(altmap) > nr_pages) { pr_warn_once("memory add fail, invalid altmap\n"); return -EINVAL; } Signed-off-by: Dan Williams <dan.j.williams@intel.com>
2015-08-28libnvdimm, pfn: 'struct page' provider infrastructureDan Williams1-0/+35
Implement the base infrastructure for libnvdimm PFN devices. Similar to BTT devices they take a namespace as a backing device and layer functionality on top. In this case the functionality is reserving space for an array of 'struct page' entries to be handed out through pfn_to_page(). For now this is just the basic libnvdimm-device-model for configuring the base PFN device. As the namespace claiming mechanism for PFN devices is mostly identical to BTT devices drivers/nvdimm/claim.c is created to house the common bits.
