2015-10-14rtlwifi: rtl818x: Move drivers into new realtek directoryLarry Finger21-10618/+0
Now that a new mac80211-based driver for Realtek devices has been submitted, it is time to reorganize the directories. Rather than having directories rtlwifi and rtl818x be in drivers/net/wireless/, they will now be in drivers/net/wireless/realtek/. This change simplifies the directory structure, but does not result in any configuration changes that are visable to the user. While working on getting my rtl8821au driver in pretty shape for inclusion, it is dicosvered that the tm_trigger flag is used only for the first device using this driver. This flag handles the thermal power management in the hardware. To change this add a entry in sttruct rtl_dm, so each device can handle is separately. Each of the drivers contains a routine that initializes the dm_digtable member of the driver's private area. As a first step toward reducing the size of the drivers, a copy of this driver is created in rtlwifi, and the definitions of the parameters are moved there. 2014-09-30rtlwifi: rtl8723ae: Update driver to match 06/28/14 Realtek versionLarry Finger1-1/+0
Not only does this patch update the driver to match the latest Realtek release, it is an important step in getting the internal code source at Realtek to match the code in the kernel. The primary reason for this is to make it easier for Realtek to maintain the kernel source without requiring an intermediate like me. In this process of merging the two source repositories, there are a lot of changes in both, and this commit is rather large. The regression occurs because V0 queue on RTL8192SE cards uses priority 6, not the usual 7. The fix is to modify the rtl8192se routine that sets the correct transmit queue. 2014-02-24rtlwifi: avoid accessing RCR directlyPeter Wu1-2/+3
The rtl*_set_check_bssid functions are mostly the same, but access the RCR register in different ways. Use the get_hw_reg abstraction layer (which reads rtlpci->receive_config for PCI devices and mac->rx_conf for USB). There is no functional change for cases where receive_config was accessed directly. For rtl8192ce, there is still no change because nothing modifies REG_RCR or receive_config. For rtl8192cu, it now also applies changes to rx_conf from configure_filter, but that can be considered a bug which is fixed later. 2014-02-04mac80211: add length check in ieee80211_is_robust_mgmt_frame()Johannes Berg1-1/+1
A few places weren't checking that the frame passed to the function actually has enough data even though the function clearly documents it must have a payload byte. Make this safer by changing the function to take an skb and checking the length inside. The old version is preserved for now as the rtl* drivers use it and don't have a correct skb. 2013-11-11rtlwifi: rtl8192se: Fix incorrect signal strength for unassociated APLarry Finger1-1/+1
The routine that processes received frames was returning the RSSI value for the signal strength; however, that value is available only for associated APs. As a result, the strength was the absurd value of 10 dBm. As a result, scans return incorrect values for the strength, which causes unwanted attempts to roam. 2013-02-15mac80211: stop toggling IEEE80211_HT_CAP_SUP_WIDTH_20_40Johannes Berg2-4/+2
For VHT, many more bandwidth changes are possible. As a first step, stop toggling the IEEE80211_HT_CAP_SUP_WIDTH_20_40 flag in the HT capabilities and instead introduce a bandwidth field indicating the currently usable bandwidth to transmit to the station. Of course, make all drivers use it. To achieve this, make ieee80211_ht_cap_ie_to_sta_ht_cap() get the station as an argument, rather than the new capabilities, so it can set up the new bandwidth field. If the station is a VHT station and VHT bandwidth is in use, also set the bandwidth accordingly. Doing this allows us to get rid of the supports_40mhz flag as the HT capabilities now reflect the true capability instead of the current setting. While at it, also fix ieee80211_ht_cap_ie_to_sta_ht_cap() to not ignore HT cap overrides when MCS TX isn't supported (not that it really happens...) 2012-07-31mac80211: move TX station pointer and restructure TXThomas Huehn2-2/+4
Remove the control.sta pointer from ieee80211_tx_info to free up sufficient space in the TX skb control buffer for the upcoming Transmit Power Control (TPC). Instead, the pointer is now on the stack in a new control struct that is passed as a function parameter to the drivers' tx method.
