2016-12-10net: phy: phy drivers should not set SUPPORTED_[Asym_]PauseTimur Tabi1-3/+1
Instead of having individual PHY drivers set the SUPPORTED_Pause and SUPPORTED_Asym_Pause flags, phylib itself should set those flags, unless there is a hardware erratum or other special case. During autonegotiation, the PHYs will determine whether to enable pause frame support. Pause frames are a feature that is supported by the MAC. It is the MAC that generates the frames and that processes them. The PHY can only be configured to allow them to pass through. This commit also effectively reverts the recently applied c7a61319 ("net: phy: dp83848: Support ethernet pause frames"). So the new process is: 1) Unless the PHY driver overrides it, phylib sets the SUPPORTED_Pause and SUPPORTED_AsymPause bits in phydev->supported. This indicates that the PHY supports pause frames. 2) The MAC driver checks phydev->supported before it calls phy_start(). If (SUPPORTED_Pause | SUPPORTED_AsymPause) is set, then the MAC driver sets those bits in phydev->advertising, if it wants to enable pause frame support. 3) When the link state changes, the MAC driver checks phydev->pause and phydev->asym_pause, If the bits are set, then it enables the corresponding features in the MAC. The algorithm is: if (phydev->pause) The MAC should be programmed to receive and honor pause frames it receives, i.e. enable receive flow control. if (phydev->pause != phydev->asym_pause) The MAC should be programmed to transmit pause frames when needed, i.e. enable transmit flow control. 2016-12-05net: phy: dp83848: Support ethernet pause framesJesper Nilsson1-1/+3
According to the documentation, the PHYs supported by this driver can also support pause frames. Announce this to be so. Tested with a TI83822I. Acked-by: Andrew F. Davis <afd@ti.com> Signed-off-by: Jesper Nilsson <jesper.nilsson@axis.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2016-10-29net: phy: dp83848: add dp83822 PHY supportRoger Quadros1-0/+3
This PHY has a compatible register set with DP83848x so add support for it. Acked-by: Andrew F. Davis <afd@ti.com> Signed-off-by: Roger Quadros <rogerq@ti.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2016-02-18net: phy: dp83848: Fix sysfs naming collision warningAndrew F. Davis1-1/+1
Files in sysfs are created using the name from the phy_driver struct, when two names are the same we may get a duplicate filename warning, fix this. 2016-02-11net: phy: dp83848: Add support for TI TLK10x Ethernet PHYsAndrew F. Davis1-0/+3
The TI TLK10x Ethernet PHYs are similar in the interrupt relevant registers and so are compatible with the DP83848x devices already supported. Signed-off-by: Andrew F. Davis <afd@ti.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2016-02-11net: phy: dp83848: Reorganize code for readability and safetyAndrew F. Davis1-13/+20
Reorganize code by moving the desired interrupt mask definition out of function. Also rearrange the enable/disable interrupt function to prevent accidental over-writing of values in registers. Signed-off-by: Andrew F. Davis <afd@ti.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2016-02-11net: phy: dp83848: Add PHY ID for TI version of DP83848CAndrew F. Davis1-3/+6
After acquiring National Semiconductor, TI appears to have changed the Vendor Model Number for the DP83848C PHYs, add this new ID to supported IDs. Signed-off-by: Andrew F. Davis <afd@ti.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2016-02-11net: phy: dp83848: Add macro for dp83848 compatible devicesAndrew F. Davis1-19/+22
Add a helper macro for defining dp83848 compatible phy devices. Update copyright info. Signed-off-by: Andrew F. Davis <afd@ti.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2016-01-07phy: Centralize setting driver module ownerAndrew Lunn1-2/+0
Rather than have each driver set the driver owner field, do it once in the core code. This will also help with later changes, when the device structure will move. 2015-10-22net: phy: dp83848: Add TI DP83848 Ethernet PHYAndrew F. Davis1-0/+99
Add support for the TI DP83848 Ethernet PHY device. The DP83848 is a highly reliable, feature rich, IEEE 802.3 compliant single port 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet Physical Layer Transceiver supporting the MII and RMII interfaces. Signed-off-by: Andrew F.
