2014-07-15net: set name_assign_type in alloc_netdev()Tom Gundersen1-1/+2
Extend alloc_netdev{,_mq{,s}}() to take name_assign_type as argument, and convert all users to pass NET_NAME_UNKNOWN. 2014-03-24tilepro: Call dev_consume_skb_any instead of kfree_skb.Eric W. Biederman1-2/+2
Replace kfree_skb with dev_consume_skb_any in tile_net_tx and tile_net_tx_tso which can be called in hard irq and other contexts. At the point where the skbs are freed a packet has been successfully transmitted so dev_consume_skb_any is the appropriate variant to use. Signed-off-by: "Eric W. Biederman" <ebiederm@xmission.com>
2014-03-14tilepro: Don't receive packets when the napi budget == 0Eric W. Biederman1-0/+3
Processing any incoming packets with a with a napi budget of 0 is incorrect driver behavior. This matters as netpoll will shortly call drivers with a budget of 0 to avoid receive packet processing happening in hard irq context. Signed-off-by: "Eric W. Biederman" <ebiederm@xmission.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2014-03-14net: Replace u64_stats_fetch_begin_bh to u64_stats_fetch_begin_irqEric W. Biederman1-2/+2
Replace the bh safe variant with the hard irq safe variant. We need a hard irq safe variant to deal with netpoll transmitting packets from hard irq context, and we need it in most if not all of the places using the bh safe variant. Except on 32bit uni-processor the code is exactly the same so don't bother with a bh variant, just have a hard irq safe variant that everyone can use. Signed-off-by: "Eric W. Biederman" <ebiederm@xmission.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-11-06net: Explicitly initialize u64_stats_sync structures for lockdepJohn Stultz1-0/+2
In order to enable lockdep on seqcount/seqlock structures, we must explicitly initialize any locks. The u64_stats_sync structure, uses a seqcount, and thus we need to introduce a u64_stats_init() function and use it to initialize the structure. This unfortunately adds a lot of fairly trivial initialization code to a number of drivers. But the benefit of ensuring correctness makes this worth while. Because these changes are required for lockdep to be enabled, and the changes are quite trivial, I've not yet split this patch out into 30-some separate patches, as I figured it would be better to get the various maintainers thoughts on how to best merge this change along with the seqcount lockdep enablement. Feedback would be appreciated! 2013-08-01tile: set hw_features and vlan_features in setupChris Metcalf1-29/+14
This change allows the user to configure various features of the tile networking drivers on and off. There is no change to the default initialization state of either the tilegx or tilepro drivers. Neither driver needs the ndo_fix_features or ndo_set_features callbacks, since the generic code already handles the dependencies for fix_features, and there is no hardware state to tweak in set_features. 2012-04-02drivers/net/ethernet/tile: fix netdev_alloc_skb() bombingChris Metcalf1-1/+1
Commit dae2e9f430c46c29e3f771110094bd3da3625aa4 changed dev_alloc_skb() to netdev_alloc_skb(), adding a dev pointer, but erroneously used "->" instead of "." for a struct member when accessing the dev pointer. This change fixes the build breakage. Signed-off-by: Chris Metcalf <cmetcalf@tilera.com>
