2018-01-10sfc: support the ethtool ksettings API properly so that 25/50/100G worksEdward Cree5-83/+92
Store and handle ethtool link mode masks within the driver instead of just a single u32. However, quite a significant amount of existing code wants to manipulate the masks directly, and thus now uses the first unsigned long (i.e. mask[0]) as though it were a legacy u32 mask. This is ok because all the bits that code is interested in are in the first 32 bits of the mask; but it might be a good idea to change them in future to use the proper bitmap API. 2018-01-10sfc: basic MCDI mapping of 25/50/100G link speedsEdward Cree1-10/+16
Only handles direct speed setting, not autoneg, because the driver is still trying to pretend it uses the legacy ethtool API which doesn't have advertised/supported bits for 25/50/100G. Signed-off-by: Edward Cree <ecree@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2017-12-21sfc: expose CTPIO stats on NICs that support themBert Kenward2-0/+67
While the Linux driver doesn't use CTPIO ('cut-through programmed I/O'), other drivers on the same port might, so if we're responsible for reporting per-port stats we need to include the CTPIO stats. 2017-12-21sfc: expose FEC stats on Medford2Edward Cree2-1/+30

2017-12-21sfc: support variable number of MAC statsEdward Cree5-11/+29
Medford2 NICs support more than MC_CMD_MAC_NSTATS stats, and report the new count in a field of MC_CMD_GET_CAPABILITIES_V4. This also means that the end generation count moves (it is, as before, the last 64 bits of the DMA buffer, but that is no longer MC_CMD_MAC_GENERATION_END). So read num_mac_stats from the GET_CAPABILITIES response, if present; otherwise assume MC_CMD_MAC_NSTATS; and always use num_mac_stats - 1 rather than MC_CMD_MAC_GENERATION_END. 2017-12-18sfc: populate the timer reload fieldBert Kenward1-2/+3
The timer mode register now has a separate field for the reload value. Since we always use this timer with the reload (for interrupt moderation) we set this to the same as the initial value. Previous hardware ignores this field, so we can safely set these bits on all hardware that uses this register. Signed-off-by: Edward Cree <ecree@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2017-12-18sfc: update EF10 register definitionsBert Kenward2-25/+37
The RX_L4_CLASS field has shrunk from 3 bits to 2 bits. The upper bit was never used in previous hardware, so we can use the new definition throughout. The TSO OUTER_IPID field was previously spelt differently from the external definitions. Signed-off-by: Edward Cree <ecree@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

Medford2 can also have 16k or 64k VI stride. This is reported by MCDI in GET_CAPABILITIES, which fortunately is called before the driver does anything sensitive to the VI stride (such as accessing or even allocating VIs past the zeroth). 2017-12-08sfc: pass valid pointers from efx_enqueue_unwindBert Kenward1-1/+4
The bytes_compl and pkts_compl pointers passed to efx_dequeue_buffers cannot be NULL. Add a paranoid warning to check this condition and fix the one case where they were NULL. efx_enqueue_unwind() is called very rarely, during error handling. Without this fix it would fail with a NULL pointer dereference in efx_dequeue_buffer, with efx_enqueue_skb in the call stack. 2017-11-15mm: remove __GFP_COLDMel Gorman2-2/+2
As the page free path makes no distinction between cache hot and cold pages, there is no real useful ordering of pages in the free list that allocation requests can take advantage of. Juding from the users of __GFP_COLD, it is likely that a number of them are the result of copying other sites instead of actually measuring the impact. Remove the __GFP_COLD parameter which simplifies a number of paths in the page allocator. This is potentially controversial but bear in mind that the size of the per-cpu pagelists versus modern cache sizes means that the whole per-cpu list can often fit in the L3 cache. Hence, there is only a potential benefit for microbenchmarks that alloc/free pages in a tight loop. It's even worse when THP is taken into account which has little or no chance of getting a cache-hot page as the per-cpu list is bypassed and the zeroing of multiple pages will thrash the cache anyway. The truncate microbenchmarks are not shown as this patch affects the allocation path and not the free path. A page fault microbenchmark was tested but it showed no sigificant difference which is not surprising given that the __GFP_COLD branches are a miniscule percentage of the fault path. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman2-0/+2
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. 2017-10-25locking/atomics: COCCINELLE/treewide: Convert trivial ACCESS_ONCE() patterns ↵Mark Rutland11-36/+36
to READ_ONCE()/WRITE_ONCE() Please do not apply this to mainline directly, instead please re-run the coccinelle script shown below and apply its output. For several reasons, it is desirable to use {READ,WRITE}_ONCE() in preference to ACCESS_ONCE(), and new code is expected to use one of the former. So far, there's been no reason to change most existing uses of ACCESS_ONCE(), as these aren't harmful, and changing them results in churn. However, for some features, the read/write distinction is critical to correct operation. To distinguish these cases, separate read/write accessors must be used. This patch migrates (most) remaining ACCESS_ONCE() instances to {READ,WRITE}_ONCE(), using the following coccinelle script: ---- // Convert trivial ACCESS_ONCE() uses to equivalent READ_ONCE() and // WRITE_ONCE() // $ make coccicheck COCCI=/home/mark/once.cocci SPFLAGS="--include-headers" MODE=patch virtual patch @ depends on patch @ expression E1, E2; @@ - ACCESS_ONCE(E1) = E2 + WRITE_ONCE(E1, E2) @ depends on patch @ expression E; @@ - ACCESS_ONCE(E) + READ_ONCE(E) ---- Signed-off-by: Mark Rutland <mark.rutland@arm.com> Signed-off-by: Paul E. 2017-06-29sfc: fix attempt to translate invalid filter IDEdward Cree1-3/+4
When filter insertion fails with no rollback, we were trying to convert EFX_EF10_FILTER_ID_INVALID to an id to store in 'ids' (which is either vlan->uc or vlan->mc). This would WARN_ON_ONCE and then record a bogus filter ID of 0x1fff, neither of which is a good thing. 2017-06-22sfc: Fix MCDI command size for filter operationsMartin Habets1-4/+4
The 8000 series adapters uses catch-all filters for encapsulated traffic to support filtering VXLAN, NVGRE and GENEVE traffic. This new filter functionality requires a longer MCDI command. This patch increases the size of buffers on stack that were missed, which fixes a kernel panic from the stack protector. 2017-06-20sfc: remove duplicate up_write on VF filter_semEdward Cree1-2/+0
Somehow two copies of the line 'up_write(&vf->efx->filter_sem);' got into efx_ef10_sriov_set_vf_vlan(). This would put the mutex in a bad state and cause all subsequent down attempts to hang. 2017-06-16networking: make skb_put & friends return void pointersJohannes Berg2-4/+2
It seems like a historic accident that these return unsigned char *, and in many places that means casts are required, more often than not. Make these functions (skb_put, __skb_put and pskb_put) return void * and remove all the casts across the tree, adding a (u8 *) cast only where the unsigned char pointer was used directly, all done with the following spatch: @@ expression SKB, LEN; typedef u8; identifier fn = { skb_put, __skb_put }; @@ - *(fn(SKB, LEN)) + *(u8 *)fn(SKB, LEN) @@ expression E, SKB, LEN; identifier fn = { skb_put, __skb_put }; type T; @@ - E = ((T *)(fn(SKB, LEN))) + E = fn(SKB, LEN) which actually doesn't cover pskb_put since there are only three users overall. A handful of stragglers were converted manually, notably a macro in drivers/isdn/i4l/isdn_bsdcomp.c and, oddly enough, one of the many instances in net/bluetooth/hci_sock.c. In the former file, I also had to fix one whitespace problem spatch introduced. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2017-06-08net: propagate tc filter chain index down the ndo_setup_tc callJiri Pirko4-8/+8
We need to push the chain index down to the drivers, so they have the information to which chain the rule belongs. For now, no driver supports multichain offload, so only chain 0 is supported. This is needed to prevent chain squashes during offload for now. Later this will be used to implement multichain offload. Signed-off-by: Jiri Pirko <jiri@mellanox.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2017-04-17sfc: limit the number of receive queuesBert Kenward2-0/+14

2017-04-05sfc: don't insert mc_list on low-latency firmware if it's too longEdward Cree1-2/+8
If the mc_list is longer than 256 addresses, we enter mc_promisc mode. If we're in mc_promisc mode and the firmware doesn't support cascaded multicast, normally we also insert our mc_list, to prevent stealing by another VI. However, if the mc_list was too long, this isn't really helpful - the MC groups that didn't fit in the list can still get stolen, and having only some of them stealable will probably cause more confusing behaviour than having them all stealable. Since inserting 256 multicast filters takes a long time and can lead to MCDI state machine timeouts, just skip the mc_list insert in this overflow condition.
