2018-02-12ravb: Remove obsolete explicit clock handling for WoLGeert Uytterhoeven1-6/+0
Currently, if Wake-on-LAN is enabled, the EtherAVB device's module clock is manually kept running during system suspend, to make sure the device stays active. Since commit 91c719f5ec6671f7 ("soc: renesas: rcar-sysc: Keep wakeup sources active during system suspend") , this workaround is no longer needed. Hence remove all explicit clock handling to keep the device active. 2017-10-12ravb: Consolidate clock handlingGeert Uytterhoeven1-25/+10
The module clock is used for two purposes: - Wake-on-LAN (WoL), which is optional, - gPTP Timer Increment (GTI) configuration, which is mandatory. As the clock is needed for GTI configuration anyway, WoL is always available. Hence remove duplication and repeated obtaining of the clock by making GTI use the stored clock for WoL use. 2017-10-04ravb: RX checksum offloadSimon Horman1-1/+54
Add support for RX checksum offload. This is enabled by default and may be disabled and re-enabled using ethtool: # ethtool -K eth0 rx off # ethtool -K eth0 rx on The RAVB provides a simple checksumming scheme which appears to be completely compatible with CHECKSUM_COMPLETE: sum of all packet data after the L2 header is appended to packet data; this may be trivially read by the driver and used to update the skb accordingly. In terms of performance throughput is close to gigabit line-rate both with and without RX checksum offload enabled. Perf output, however, appears to indicate that significantly less time is spent in do_csum(). This is as expected. 2017-08-01ravb: add workaround for clock when resuming with WoL enabledNiklas Söderlund1-2/+25
The renesas-cpg-mssr clock driver are not yet aware of PSCI sleep where power is cut to the SoC. When resuming from this state with WoL enabled the enable count of the ravb clock is 1 and the clock driver thinks the clock is already on when PM core enables the clock and increments the enable count to 2. This will result in the ravb driver failing to talk to the hardware since the module clock is off. Work around this by forcing the enable count to 0 and then back to 2 when resuming with WoL enabled. This workaround should be reverted once the renesas-cpg-mssr clock driver becomes aware of this PSCI sleep behavior. 2017-08-01ravb: add wake-on-lan support via magic packetNiklas Söderlund1-4/+104
WoL is enabled in the suspend callback by setting MagicPacket detection and disabling all interrupts expect MagicPacket. In the resume path the driver needs to reset the hardware to rearm the WoL logic, this prevents the driver from simply restoring the registers and to take advantage of that ravb was not suspended to reduce resume time. To reset the hardware the driver closes the device, sets it in reset mode and reopens the device just like it would do in a normal suspend/resume scenario without WoL enabled, but it both closes and opens the device in the resume callback since the device needs to be reset for WoL to work. One quirk needed for WoL is that the module clock needs to be prevented from being switched off by Runtime PM. To keep the clock alive the suspend callback need to call clk_enable() directly to increase the usage count of the clock. Then when Runtime PM decreases the clock usage count it won't reach 0 and be switched off. Commit a47b70ea86bd ("ravb: unmap descriptors when freeing rings") has introduced the issue seen in [1] reproduced on H3ULCB board. Fix this by relocating the RX skb ringbuffer free operation, so that swiotlb page unmapping can be done first. Freeing of aligned TX buffers is not relevant to the issue seen in [1]. Still, reposition TX free calls as well, to have all kfree() operations performed consistently _after_ dma_unmap_*()/dma_free_*(). 2017-01-29ravb: Add tx and rx clock internal delays mode of APSRKazuya Mizuguchi1-0/+23
This patch enables tx and rx clock internal delay modes (TDM and RDM). This is to address a failure in the case of 1Gbps communication using the by salvator-x board with the KSZ9031RNX phy. This has been reported to occur with both the r8a7795 (H3) and r8a7796 (M3-W) SoCs. Due to alignment requirements of the hardware transmissions are split into two DMA descriptors, a small padding descriptor of 0 - 3 bytes in length followed by a descriptor for rest of the packet. In the case of IP packets the first descriptor will never be zero due to the way that the stack aligns buffers for IP packets. However, for non-IP packets it may be zero. In that case it has been reported that timeouts occur, presumably because transmission stops at the first zero-length DMA descriptor and thus the packet is not transmitted. Couple conflicts resolved here: 1) In the MACB driver, a bug fix to properly initialize the RX tail pointer properly overlapped with some changes to support variable sized rings. 2) In XGBE we had a "CONFIG_PM" --> "CONFIG_PM_SLEEP" fix overlapping with a reorganization of the driver to support ACPI, OF, as well as PCI variants of the chip. 3) In 'net' we had several probe error path bug fixes to the stmmac driver, meanwhile a lot of this code was cleaned up and reorganized in 'net-next'. 4) The cls_flower classifier obtained a helper function in 'net-next' called __fl_delete() and this overlapped with Daniel Borkamann's bug fix to use RCU for object destruction in 'net'. It also overlapped with Jiri's change to guard the rhashtable_remove_fast() call with a check against tc_skip_sw(). 5) In mlx4, a revert bug fix in 'net' overlapped with some unrelated changes in 'net-next'. 6) In geneve, a stale header pointer after pskb_expand_head() bug fix in 'net' overlapped with a large reorganization of the same code in 'net-next'. 2016-10-13net: deprecate eth_change_mtu, remove usageJarod Wilson1-1/+0
With centralized MTU checking, there's nothing productive done by eth_change_mtu that isn't already done in dev_set_mtu, so mark it as deprecated and remove all usage of it in the kernel. All callers have been audited for calls to alloc_etherdev* or ether_setup directly, which means they all have a valid dev->min_mtu and dev->max_mtu. Now eth_change_mtu prints out a netdev_warn about being deprecated, for the benefit of out-of-tree drivers that might be utilizing it. Of note, dvb_net.c actually had dev->mtu = 4096, while using eth_change_mtu, meaning that if you ever tried changing it's mtu, you couldn't set it above 1500 anymore. The interface would not function after the system had been woken up after have been suspended (echo mem > /sys/power/state) cycle. The reason for this is that all device registers have been reset to its default values. This patch adds sleep suspend and resume functions that detached the interface at suspend and restore the registers and reattach the interface at resume. Only the registers that are only configured at probe time needs to be explicitly restored by the resume handler. All other registers are reconfigured by either reopening the device in the resume handler (if the device was running when the system was suspended) or when the interface is opened by a user at a later time. The code in ravb_emac_init() twiddling the ECMR bits always looked a bit strange to me: if one intends to respect 'priv->duplex', why save old value of the ECMR.DM bit?
