2018-01-16net: thunderx: add timestamping supportSunil Goutham1-0/+1
This adds timestamping support for both receive and transmit paths. On the receive side no filters are supported i.e either all pkts will get a timestamp appended infront of the packet or none. On the transmit side HW doesn't support timestamp insertion but only generates a separate CQE with transmitted packet's timestamp. Also HW supports only one packet at a time for timestamping on the transmit side. 2016-11-16ptp_clock: Allow for it to be optionalNicolas Pitre1-1/+1
In order to break the hard dependency between the PTP clock subsystem and ethernet drivers capable of being clock providers, this patch provides simple PTP stub functions to allow linkage of those drivers into the kernel even when the PTP subsystem is configured out. Drivers must be ready to accept NULL from ptp_clock_register() in that case. And to make it possible for PTP to be configured out, the select statement in those driver's Kconfig menu entries is converted to the new "imply" statement. This way the PTP subsystem may have Kconfig dependencies of its own, such as POSIX_TIMERS, without having to make those ethernet drivers unavailable if POSIX timers are cconfigured out. And when support for POSIX timers is selected again then the default config option for PTP clock support will automatically be adjusted accordingly. The pch_gbe driver is a bit special as it relies on extra code in drivers/ptp/ptp_pch.c. Therefore we let the make process descend into drivers/ptp/ even if PTP_1588_CLOCK is unselected. As well as for kernels built only for ThunderX ARCH_THUNDERX is also enabled for kernels which support multiple platforms (such as distro kernels). Thus "default ARCH_THUNDER" is inappropriate. I believe default m is equally frowned upon, so remove the line completely rather than "default m if ARCH_THUNDER". Added MODULE_FIRMWARE declarations. Following were the previous patches. The thunderx ethernet driver fails to build on architectures that do not have an atomic readq() and writeq() function for 64-bit PCI bus access: drivers/net/ethernet/cavium/thunder/thunder_bgx.c: In function 'bgx_reg_read': include/asm-generic/io.h:195:23: error: implicit declaration of function 'readq' [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration] It seems impossible to get this driver to work on most 32-bit hardware, so it's better to add an explicit dependency, in order to let us keep building 'allmodconfig' kernels on all architectures. As the driver is meant for the internal hardware on an arm64 SoC, this is not a problem for usability. Allowing the build on all 64-bit architectures rather than just CONFIG_ARM64 on the other hand means that we get the benefit of build testing on x86.
