2018-09-12media: dvb: move compat handlers into driversArnd Bergmann1-1/+55
The VIDEO_STILLPICTURE is only implemented by one driver, while VIDEO_GET_EVENT has two users in tree. In both cases, it is fairly easy to handle the compat ioctls in the native handler rather than relying on translation in fs/compat_ioctls. In effect, this means that now the drivers implement both structure layouts in both native and compat mode, but I don't see anything wrong with that. 2018-09-12media: dvb: move most compat_ioctl handling into driversArnd Bergmann1-0/+2
Most DVB audio and video ioctl commands are completely compatible, and are implemented by just two drivers: ttpci and ivtv. In both cases, we can use the same ioctl handler for both native and compat ioctl handling, and remove the entries from the global lookup table. In case of ttpci, this directly hooks into the file_operations structure, and for ivtv, we have to set the compat_ioctl32 method in v4l2_file_operations. For all I can tell, setting it to video_ioctl2 will still do the right thing for all commands. Note that for the VIDEO_STILLPICTURE and VIDEO_GET_EVENT commands, a translation handler in fs/compat_ioctl.c is still used. This works because the command numbers are different on 32-bit systems. 2018-02-11vfs: do bulk POLL* -> EPOLL* replacementLinus Torvalds1-5/+5
This is the mindless scripted replacement of kernel use of POLL* variables as described by Al, done by this script: for V in IN OUT PRI ERR RDNORM RDBAND WRNORM WRBAND HUP RDHUP NVAL MSG; do L=`git grep -l -w POLL$V | grep -v '^t' | grep -v /um/ | grep -v '^sa' | grep -v '/poll.h$'|grep -v '^D'` for f in $L; do sed -i "-es/^\([^\"]*\)\(\<POLL$V\>\)/\\1E\\2/" $f; done done with de-mangling cleanups yet to come. NOTE! On almost all architectures, the EPOLL* constants have the same values as the POLL* constants do. But they keyword here is "almost". For various bad reasons they aren't the same, and epoll() doesn't actually work quite correctly in some cases due to this on Sparc et al. The next patch from Al will sort out the final differences, and we should be all done. Scripted-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2017-01-27[media] media: Drop FSF's postal address from the source code filesSakari Ailus1-5/+2
Drop the FSF's postal address from the source code files that typically contain mostly the license text. Of the 628 removed instances, 578 are outdated. The patch has been created with the following command without manual edits: git grep -l "675 Mass Ave\|59 Temple Place\|51 Franklin St" -- \ drivers/media/ include/media|while read i; do i=$i perl -e ' open(F,"< $ENV{i}"); $a=join("", <F>); $a =~ s/[ \t]*\*\n.*You should.*\n.*along with.*\n.*(\n.*USA.*$)?\n//m && $a =~ s/(^.*)Or, (point your browser to) /$1To obtain the license, $2\n$1/m; close(F); open(F, "> $ENV{i}"); print F $a; close(F);'; done Signed-off-by: Sakari Ailus <sakari.ailus@linux.intel.com>
2016-01-11[media] dvb: modify core to implement interfaces/entities at MC new genMauro Carvalho Chehab1-2/+2
The Media Controller New Generation redefines the types for both interfaces and entities to be used on DVB. Make the needed changes at the DVB core for all interfaces, entities and data and interface links to appear in the graph. 2015-12-04[media] use https://linuxtv.org for LinuxTV URLsMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+1
While https was always supported on linuxtv.org, only in Dec 3 2015 the website is using valid certificates. As we're planning to drop pure http support on some future, change all references at the media subsystem to point to the https URL instead. 2015-11-17[media] av7110: potential divide by zeroDan Carpenter1-0/+3
"len" comes from dvb_video_ioctl() and there is a possibility that it is zero. We do a divide by len later in the function so that's not ok. 2015-11-17[media] av7110: don't allow negative volumesDan Carpenter1-2/+4
The issue here is that we there is a static checker warning because we have a user controlled volume setting and we cap the upper bound but we allow negative numbers. Negative volumes don't make sense, so let's make these variables unsigned. 2015-10-06[media] dvb: get rid of enum dmx_successMauro Carvalho Chehab1-3/+3
This enum is not actually used anymore. The only value used from the enum is DMX_OK, passed as a parameter on two callbacks. Yet, this value is not used anywhere. So, just remove it. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@osg.samsung.com>
2014-05-23[media] av7110: fix confusing indentingDan Carpenter1-2/+4
The else statement here is not aligned with the correct if statement. I think the code works as intended and it's just the indenting which is wrong. Also kernel style says we should use curly braces here so I have added those. 2012-12-27[media] dvb: push down ioctl lock in dvb_usercopyNikolaus Schulz1-0/+8
Since most dvb ioctls wrap their real work with dvb_usercopy, the static mutex used in dvb_usercopy effectively is a global lock for dvb ioctls. Unfortunately, frontend ioctls can be blocked by the frontend thread for several seconds; this leads to unacceptable lock contention. Mitigate that by pushing the mutex from dvb_usercopy down to the individual, device specific ioctls. There are 10 such ioctl functions using dvb_usercopy, either calling it directly, or via the trivial wrapper dvb_generic_ioctl. The following already employ their own locking and look safe: • dvb_demux_ioctl (as per dvb_demux_do_ioctl) • dvb_dvr_ioctl (as per dvb_dvr_do_ioctl) • dvb_osd_ioctl (as per single non-trivial callee) • fdtv_ca_ioctl (as per callees) • dvb_frontend_ioctl The following functions do not, and are thus changed to use a device specific mutex: • dvb_net_ioctl (as per dvb_net_do_ioctl) • dvb_ca_en50221_io_ioctl (as per dvb_ca_en50221_io_do_ioctl) • dvb_video_ioctl • dvb_audio_ioctl • dvb_ca_ioctl Signed-off-by: Nikolaus Schulz <schulz@macnetix.de> Signed-off-by: Michael Krufky <mkrufky@linuxtv.org> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
