2019-05-03RDMA: Introduce and use GID attr helper to read RoCE L2 fieldsParav Pandit1-2/+4
Instead of RoCE drivers figuring out vlan, smac fields while working on QP/AH, provide a helper routine to read the L2 fields such as vlan_id and source mac address. This moves logic from mlx5 driver to core for wider usage for RoCE ports. This is a preparation patch to allow detaching netdev in subsequent patch. 2019-04-08drivers: Remove explicit invocations of mmiowb()Will Deacon1-6/+0
mmiowb() is now implied by spin_unlock() on architectures that require it, so there is no reason to call it from driver code. This patch was generated using coccinelle: @mmiowb@ @@ - mmiowb(); and invoked as: $ for d in drivers include/linux/qed sound; do \ spatch --include-headers --sp-file mmiowb.cocci --dir $d --in-place; done NOTE: mmiowb() has only ever guaranteed ordering in conjunction with spin_unlock(). However, pairing each mmiowb() removal in this patch with the corresponding call to spin_unlock() is not at all trivial, so there is a small chance that this change may regress any drivers incorrectly relying on mmiowb() to order MMIO writes between CPUs using lock-free synchronisation. If you've ended up bisecting to this commit, you can reintroduce the mmiowb() calls using wmb() instead, which should restore the old behaviour on all architectures other than some esoteric ia64 systems. 2018-07-30IB/mlx4: Use 4K pages for kernel QP's WQE bufferJack Morgenstein1-175/+34
In the current implementation, the driver tries to allocate contiguous memory, and if it fails, it falls back to 4K fragmented allocation. Once the memory is fragmented, the first allocation might take a lot of time, and even fail, which can cause connection failures. This patch changes the logic to always allocate with 4K granularity, since it's more robust and more likely to succeed. This patch was tested with Lustre and no performance degradation was observed. Note: This commit eliminates the "shrinking WQE" feature. This feature depended on using vmap to create a virtually contiguous send WQ. vmap use was abandoned due to problems with several processors (see the commit cited below). As a result, shrinking WQE was available only with physically contiguous send WQs. Allocating such send WQs caused the problems described above. Therefore, as a side effect of eliminating the use of large physically contiguous send WQs, the shrinking WQE feature became unavailable. 2018-07-30RDMA, core and ULPs: Declare ib_post_send() and ib_post_recv() arguments constBart Van Assche1-10/+11
Since neither ib_post_send() nor ib_post_recv() modify the data structure their second argument points at, declare that argument const. This change makes it necessary to declare the 'bad_wr' argument const too and also to modify all ULPs that call ib_post_send(), ib_post_recv() or ib_post_srq_recv(). This patch does not change any functionality but makes it possible for the compiler to verify whether the ib_post_(send|recv|srq_recv) really do not modify the posted work request. To make this possible, only one cast had to be introduce that casts away constness, namely in rpcrdma_post_recvs(). The only way I can think of to avoid that cast is to introduce an additional loop in that function or to change the data type of bad_wr from struct ib_recv_wr ** into int (an index that refers to an element in the work request list). However, both approaches would require even more extensive changes than this patch. 2018-06-25IB/mlx4: Add support for drain SQ & RQYishai Hadas1-6/+148
This patch follows the logic from ib_core but considers the internal device state upon executing the involved commands. Specifically, Upon internal error state modify QP to an error state can be assumed to be success as each in-progress WR going to be flushed in error in any case as expected by that modify command. In addition, As the drain should never fail the driver makes sure that post_send/recv will succeed even if the device is already in an internal error state. As such once the driver will supply the simulated/SW CQEs the CQE for the drain WR will be handled as well. In case of an internal error state the CQE for the drain WR may be completed as part of the main task that handled the error state or by the task that issued the drain WR. As the above depends on scheduling the code takes the relevant locks and actions to make sure that the completion handler for that WR will always be called after that the post_send/recv were issued but not in parallel to the other task that handles the error flow. The core code now ensures that all driver callbacks that receive an rdma_ah_attrs will have a sgid_attr's pointer if there is a GRH present. Drivers can use this pointer instead of calling a query function with sgid_index. This simplifies the drivers and also avoids races where a gid_index lookup may return different data if it is changed. The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This patch replaces cases of: kmalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Mistakenly the driver didn't allow RSS hash fields combinations which involve both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols. This bug caused to failures for user's use cases for RSS. Consequently, this patch fixes this bug and allows any combination that the HW can support. Maximal message should be used as a limit to the max message payload allowed, without the headers. The ConnectX-3 check is done against this value includes the headers. When the payload is 4K this will cause the NIC to drop packets. Increase maximal message to 8K as workaround, this shouldn't change current behaviour because we continue to set the MTU to 4k. 2017-11-10IB/mlx4: Fix RSS's QPC attributes assignmentsGuy Levi1-7/+9
In the modify QP handler the base_qpn_udp field in the RSS QPC is overwrite later by irrelevant value assignment. Hence, ingress packets which gets to the RSS QP will be steered then to a garbage QPN. The patch fixes this by skipping the above assignment when a RSS QP is modified, also, the RSS context's attributes assignments are relocated just before the context is posted to avoid future issues like this. Additionally, this patch takes the opportunity to change the code to be disciplined to the device's manual and assigns the RSS QP context just at RESET to INIT transition. Support create/modify/destroy WQ related verbs. The base IB object to enable RSS functionality is a WQ (i.e. ib_wq). This patch implements the related WQ verbs as of create, modify and destroy. In downstream patches the WQ will be used as part of an indirection table (i.e. ib_rwq_ind_table) to enable RSS QP creation. Notes: ConnectX-3 hardware requires consecutive WQNs list as receive descriptor queues for the RSS QP. Hence, the driver manages consecutive ranges lists per context which the user must respect. Destroying the WQ does not return its WQN back to its range for reusing. However, destroying all WQs from the same range releases the range and in turn releases its WQNs for reusing. Since the WQ object is not a natural object in the hardware, the driver implements the WQ by the hardware QP. As such, the WQ inherits its port from its RSS QP parent upon its RST->INIT transition and by that time its state is applied to the hardware. Adding visibility of resource usage of QPs, CQs and counters used by virtual functions. This feature will be used to give the PF administrator more data while debugging VF status. Usage info was added to ALLOC_RES command, to notify the PF if the resource which is being reserved or allocated for the VF will be used by kernel driver or by user verbs. Updated reservation and allocation functions of QP, CQ and counter with additional usage parameter.
