2018-05-14gpu: drm: qxl: Adding new typedef vm_fault_tSouptick Joarder1-4/+4
Use new return type vm_fault_t for fault handler. For now, this is just documenting that the function returns a VM_FAULT value rather than an errno. Once all instances are converted, vm_fault_t will become a distinct type. 2017-11-10drm: qxl: remove pr_info message, stops log spammingColin Ian King1-4/+1
Simply mmap'ing /dev/dri/card0 repeatedly will spam the kernel log with qxl_mmap information messages. The following example code illustrates this: int main(void) { int fd = open("/dev/dri/card0", O_RDONLY); if (fd == -1) err(1, "open failed"); for (;;) { void *m = mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ, MAP_SHARED, fd, 0); if (m != MAP_FAILED) munmap(m, 4096); } } Stop the spamming by removing the pr_info message. 2014-03-16drm: use anon-inode instead of relying on cdevsDavid Herrmann1-2/+1
DRM drivers share a common address_space across all character-devices of a single DRM device. This allows simple buffer eviction and mapping-control. However, DRM core currently waits for the first ->open() on any char-dev to mark the underlying inode as backing inode of the device. This delayed initialization causes ugly conditions all over the place: if (dev->dev_mapping) do_sth(); To avoid delayed initialization and to stop reusing the inode of the char-dev, we allocate an anonymous inode for each DRM device and reset filp->f_mapping to it on ->open(). 2013-08-27drm: verify vma access in TTM+GEM driversDavid Herrmann1-1/+3
GEM does already a good job in tracking access to gem buffers via handles and drm_vma access management. However, TTM drivers currently do not verify this during mmap(). TTM provides the verify_access() callback to test this. So fix all drivers to actually call into gem+vma to verify access instead of always returning 0. All drivers assume that user-space can only get access to TTM buffers via GEM handles. So whenever the verify_access() callback is called from ttm_bo_mmap(), the buffer must have a valid embedded gem object. This is true for all TTM+GEM drivers. But that's why this patch doesn't touch pure TTM drivers (ie, vmwgfx). v2: Switch to drm_vma_node_verify_access() to correctly return -EACCES if access was denied. 2013-04-12drm: add new QXL driver. (v1.4)Dave Airlie1-0/+577
QXL is a paravirtual graphics device used by the Spice virtual desktop interface. The drivers uses GEM and TTM to manage memory, the qxl hw fencing however is quite different than normal TTM expects, we have to keep track of a number of non-linear fence ids per bo that we need to have released by the hardware. The releases are freed from a workqueue that wakes up and processes the release ring. releases are suballocated from a BO, there are 3 release categories, drawables, surfaces and cursor cmds. The hw also has 3 rings for commands, cursor and release handling. The hardware also have a surface id tracking mechnaism and the driver encapsulates it completely inside the kernel, userspace never sees the actual hw surface ids. This requires a newer version of the QXL userspace driver, so shouldn't be enabled until that has been placed into your distro of choice.
