2020-12-15drm/omap: drop unused DSS next pointerSebastian Reichel3-14/+2
Since all encoders and panels are using the bridge API now, we next pointer is no longer useful and can be dropped. 2020-12-15drm/omap: remove legacy DSS device operationsSebastian Reichel3-108/+0
All DSS devices have been converted to bridge API, so the device operations are always NULL. This removes the device ops function pointers and all code using it. 2020-12-15drm/omap: dsi: Register a drm_bridgeSebastian Reichel1-45/+89
In order to integrate with a chain of drm_bridge, the internal DSI output has to expose its operations through the drm_bridge API. Register a bridge at initialisation time to do so and remove the omap_dss_device operations that are now unused. Signed-off-by: Sebastian Reichel <sebastian.reichel@collabora.com> Signed-off-by: Tomi Valkeinen <tomi.valkeinen@ti.com> Reviewed-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20201215104657.802264-41-tomi.valkeinen@ti.com
2020-12-15drm/omap: remove global dss_device variableSebastian Reichel3-25/+7
We can simply provide the device to the omapdrm driver via pdata. omapdss_is_initialized() is no longer required (even before this patch), since omapdrm device is only registered after the pointer is initialized. 2020-12-15drm/omap: dsi: implement check timingsSebastian Reichel1-26/+44

2020-12-15drm/omap: dsi: convert to drm_panelSebastian Reichel3-32/+105

2020-12-15drm/omap: dsi: drop custom panel capability supportSebastian Reichel2-7/+9
Due to previous changes the DSI encoder gets the capabilities via DSI client's mode_flags and no longer needs the omapdss specific caps. The core code now checks if the DSI encoder is actually configured into command mode instead of just checking the panel capabilities. In preparation for removing custom DSS calls from the DSI panel driver, this moves support for external tearing event GPIOs into the DSI host driver. 2020-12-15drm/omap: dsi: request VC via mipi_dsi_attachSebastian Reichel2-38/+26
Drop custom request_vc/release_vc callbacks by using the generic mipi_dsi_attach/mipi_dsi_detach functions. To use mipi_dsi_attach() we need to fill in the mipi_dsi_device fields, and some of these fields overlap with the fields in omap_dss_dsi_config. In later patches the latter will get dropped. 2020-12-15drm/omap: dsi: drop virtual channel logicSebastian Reichel2-41/+9
This drops the virtual channel logic. Afterwards DSI clients request their channel number and get the virtual channel with the same number or -EBUSY if already in use. The change here is not strictly speaking correct, as it combines the VC (DSI's "configuration block") and virtual channel ID (the ID sent in the DSI packets). But as we currently only support a single DSI command mode panel, this works fine: we always use VC0, and VC ID 0. This needs more work to support video mode panels, but that can be done after moving to DRM bridge and panel model, after which we can do that work with the proper APIs. 2020-11-10drm: omapdrm: Replace HTTP links with HTTPS onesAlexander A. Klimov20-21/+21
Rationale: Reduces attack surface on kernel devs opening the links for MITM as HTTPS traffic is much harder to manipulate. Deterministic algorithm: For each file: If not .svg: For each line: If doesn't contain `\bxmlns\b`: For each link, `\bhttp://[^# \t\r\n]*(?:\w|/)`: If neither `\bgnu\.org/license`, nor `\bmozilla\.org/MPL\b`: If both the HTTP and HTTPS versions return 200 OK and serve the same content: Replace HTTP with HTTPS. 2020-08-04drm/omap: force runtime PM suspend on system suspendTomi Valkeinen4-0/+4
Use SET_LATE_SYSTEM_SLEEP_PM_OPS in DSS submodules to force runtime PM suspend and resume. We use suspend late version so that omapdrm's system suspend callback is called first, as that will disable all the display outputs after which it's safe to force DSS into suspend. 2020-06-23drm: bridge: Pass drm_display_info to drm_bridge_funcs .mode_valid()Laurent Pinchart3-0/+3
When validating a mode, bridges may need to do so in the context of a display, as specified by drm_display_info. An example is the meson dw-hdmi bridge that needs to consider the YUV 4:2:0 output format to perform clock calculations. Bridges that need the display info currently retrieve it from the drm_connector created by the bridge. This gets in the way of moving connector creation out of bridge drivers. To make this possible, pass the drm_display_info to drm_bridge_funcs .mode_valid(). Changes to the bridge drivers have been performed with the following coccinelle semantic patch and have been compile-tested. @ rule1 @ identifier funcs; identifier fn; @@ struct drm_bridge_funcs funcs = { ..., .mode_valid = fn }; @ depends on rule1 @ identifier rule1.fn; identifier bridge; identifier mode; @@ enum drm_mode_status fn( struct drm_bridge *bridge, + const struct drm_display_info *info, const struct drm_display_mode *mode ) { ... } Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart+renesas@ideasonboard.com> Reviewed-by: Neil Armstrong <narmstrong@baylibre.com> Reviewed-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@collabora.com> Reviewed-by: Guido Günther <agx@sigxcpu.org> # for the nwl-dsi part: Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20200526011505.31884-11-laurent.pinchart+renesas@ideasonboard.com
2020-06-14treewide: replace '---help---' in Kconfig files with 'help'Masahiro Yamada1-1/+1
Since commit 84af7a6194e4 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over '---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances. This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines, I also fixed the indentation. There are a variety of indentation styles found. a) 4 spaces + '---help---' b) 7 spaces + '---help---' c) 8 spaces + '---help---' d) 1 space + 1 tab + '---help---' e) 1 tab + '---help---' (correct indentation) f) 1 tab + 1 space + '---help---' g) 1 tab + 2 spaces + '---help---' In order to convert all of them to 1 tab + 'help', I ran the following commend: $ find . -name 'Kconfig*' | xargs sed -i 's/^[[:space:]]*---help---/\thelp/' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <masahiroy@kernel.org>
2020-05-05drm/omap: change default signal polarities and drivesTomi Valkeinen1-27/+6
If the given videomode does not specify DISPLAY_FLAG_* for the specific signal property, the driver used a default value. These defaults were never thought through, as the expectation was that all the DISPLAY_FLAGS are always set explicitly. With DRM bridge and panel drivers this is not the case, and while that issue should be resolved in the future, it's still good to have sane signal defaults. This patch changes the defaults to what the hardware has as reset defaults. Also, based on my experience, I think they make sense and are more likely correct than the defaults without this patch.
