2009-12-03hwrng: core - Prevent too-small buffer sizesIan Molton1-1/+2
This patch prevents the hw_random core using too small of a buffer on machines with small cacheline sizes. Signed-off-by: Ian Molton <ian.molton@collabora.co.uk> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>

This patch implements a new method by which hw_random hardware drivers can pass data to the core more efficiently, using a shared buffer. 2009-10-22virtio: let header files include virtio_ids.hChristian Borntraeger1-1/+0
Rusty, commit 3ca4f5ca73057a617f9444a91022d7127041970a virtio: add virtio IDs file moved all device IDs into a single file. While the change itself is a very good one, it can break userspace applications. For example if a userspace tool wanted to get the ID of virtio_net it used to include virtio_net.h. This does no longer work, since virtio_net.h does not include virtio_ids.h. This patch moves all "#include <linux/virtio_ids.h>" from the C files into the header files, making the header files compatible with the old ones. In addition, this patch exports virtio_ids.h to userspace. 2009-09-23virtio: make add_buf return capacity remainingRusty Russell1-1/+1
This API change means that virtio_net can tell how much capacity remains for buffers. It's necessarily fuzzy, since VIRTIO_RING_F_INDIRECT_DESC means we can fit any number of descriptors in one, *if* we can kmalloc. 2009-09-19Driver-Core: extend devnode callbacks to provide permissionsKay Sievers1-1/+1
This allows subsytems to provide devtmpfs with non-default permissions for the device node. Instead of the default mode of 0600, null, zero, random, urandom, full, tty, ptmx now have a mode of 0666, which allows non-privileged processes to access standard device nodes in case no other userspace process applies the expected permissions. 2009-06-02hwrng: omap - Move probe function to .devinit.textUwe Kleine-König1-1/+1
A pointer to omap_rng_probe is passed to the core via platform_driver_register and so the function must not disappear when the .init sections are discarded. Otherwise (if also having HOTPLUG=y) unbinding and binding a device to the driver via sysfs will result in an oops as does a device being registered late. An alternative to this patch is using platform_driver_probe instead of platform_driver_register plus removing the pointer to the probe function from the struct platform_driver. 2009-02-22hwrng: timeriomem - New driverAlexander Clouter3-0/+166
Some hardware platforms, the TS-7800[1] is one for example, can supply the kernel with an entropy source, albeit a slow one for TS-7800 users, by just reading a particular IO address. This source must not be read above a certain rate otherwise the quality suffers. The driver is then hooked into by calling platform_device_(register|add|del) passing a structure similar to: ------ static struct timeriomem_rng_data ts78xx_ts_rng_data = { .address = (u32 *__iomem) TS_RNG, .period = 1000000, /* one second */ }; static struct platform_device ts78xx_ts_rng_device = { .name = "timeriomem_rng", .id = -1, .dev = { .platform_data = &ts78xx_ts_rng_data, }, .num_resources = 0, }; ------ [1] http://www.embeddedarm.com/products/board-detail.php?product=TS-7800 Signed-off-by: Alexander Clouter <alex@digriz.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
