2022-09-02hwrng: imx-rngc - Moving IRQ handler registering after imx_rngc_irq_mask_clear()Kshitiz Varshney1-7/+7
Issue: While servicing interrupt, if the IRQ happens to be because of a SEED_DONE due to a previous boot stage, you end up completing the completion prematurely, hence causing kernel to crash while booting. Fix: Moving IRQ handler registering after imx_rngc_irq_mask_clear() Fixes: 1d5449445bd0 (hwrng: mx-rngc - add a driver for Freescale RNGC) Signed-off-by: Kshitiz Varshney <kshitiz.varshney@nxp.com> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
2022-08-26hwrng: imx-rngc - use devres for hwrng registrationMartin Kaiser1-11/+1
Replace hwrng_register with devm_hwrng_register and let devres unregister our hwrng when the device is removed. It's possible to do this now that devres also handles clock disable+uprepare. When we had to disable+unprepare the clock ourselves, we had to unregister the hwrng before this and couldn't use devres. There's nothing left to do for imx_rngc_remove, this function can go. 2022-08-26hwrng: imx-rngc - use devm_clk_get_enabledMartin Kaiser1-19/+6
Use the new devm_clk_get_enabled function to get our clock. We don't have to disable and unprepare the clock ourselves any more in error paths and in the remove function. Signed-off-by: Martin Kaiser <martin@kaiser.cx> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>

2020-11-06hwrng: imx-rngc - irq already prints an errorNigel Christian1-3/+1
Clean up the check for irq. dev_err() is superfluous as platform_get_irq() already prints an error. Check for zero would indicate a bug. Remove curly braces to conform to styling requirements. 2020-09-11hwrng: imx-rngc - add quality to use it as kernel entropy poolMarco Felsch1-0/+1
The RNGB can generate 2^20 words (1 word == 4 byte) of 'random' data after the seed pool was initialized. The pool needs to be reseeded if more words are required. The reseeding is done automatically since commit 3acd9ea9331c ("hwrng: imx-rngc - use automatic seeding"). We can't retrieve the TRNG values directly so we need a other way to get the quality level. We know that the PRNG uses 20.000 entropy samples from the TRNG to generate 2^20 words (1MiB) and the quality level is defined as (in bits of entropy per 1024 bits of input). So the quality level can be calculated by: 20.000 * 1024 ------------- = ~ 19.5 2^20 Signed-off-by: Marco Felsch <m.felsch@pengutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
2020-03-12hwrng: imx-rngc - simplify interrupt mask/unmaskMartin Kaiser1-15/+28
Use a simpler approach for masking / unmasking the rngc interrupt: The interrupt is unmasked while self-test is running and when the rngc driver is used by the hwrng core. Mask the interrupt again when self test is finished, regardless of self test success or failure. Unmask the interrupt in the init function. Add a cleanup function where the rngc interrupt is masked again. Signed-off-by: Martin Kaiser <martin@kaiser.cx> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
2020-03-12hwrng: imx-rngc - check the rng typeMartin Kaiser1-1/+27
Read the rng type and hardware revision during probe. Fail the probe operation if the type is not one of rngc or rngb. (There's also an rnga type, which needs a different driver.) Display the type and revision in a debug print if probe was successful. 2020-03-12hwrng: imx-rngc - (trivial) simplify error printsMartin Kaiser1-2/+2
Remove the device name, it is added by the dev_...() routines. Drop the error code as well. It will be shown by the driver core when the probe operation failed. 2020-03-12hwrng: imx-rngc - use automatic seedingMartin Kaiser1-2/+14
The rngc requires a new seed for its prng after generating 2^20 160-bit words of random data. At the moment, we seed the prng only once during initalisation. Set the rngc to auto seed mode so that it kicks off the internal reseeding operation when a new seed is required. Keep the manual calculation of the initial seed when the device is probed and switch to automatic seeding afterwards. 2020-03-12hwrng: imx-rngc - fix an error pathMartin Kaiser1-1/+3
Make sure that the rngc interrupt is masked if the rngc self test fails. Self test failure means that probe fails as well. Interrupts should be masked in this case, regardless of the error. 2018-07-07headers: separate linux/mod_devicetable.h from linux/platform_device.hRandy Dunlap1-0/+1
At over 4000 #includes, <linux/platform_device.h> is the 9th most #included header file in the Linux kernel. It does not need <linux/mod_devicetable.h>, so drop that header and explicitly add <linux/mod_devicetable.h> to source files that need it. 4146 #include <linux/platform_device.h> After this patch, there are 225 files that use <linux/mod_devicetable.h>, for a reduction of around 3900 times that <linux/mod_devicetable.h> does not have to be read & parsed. 225 #include <linux/mod_devicetable.h> This patch was build-tested on 20 different arch-es. It also makes these drivers SubmitChecklist#1 compliant. 2018-01-18hwrng: imx-rngc - simplify the power management definitionsMartin Kaiser1-10/+3
Use the SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS() macro instead of populating a struct dev_pm_ops directly. The suspend and resume functions will now be used for both hibernation and suspend to ram. If power management is disabled, SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS() evaluates to nothing, The two functions won't be used and won't be included in the kernel. Mark them as __maybe_unused to clarify that this is intended behaviour. With these modifications in place, we don't need the #ifdefs for power management any more.
