2020-06-01sh: configs: Cleanup old Kconfig IO scheduler optionsKrzysztof Kozlowski22-38/+4
CONFIG_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and CONFIG_IOSCHED_CFQ are gone since commit f382fb0bcef4 ("block: remove legacy IO schedulers"). The IOSCHED_DEADLINE was replaced by MQ_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and it will be now enabled by default (along with MQ_IOSCHED_KYBER). The BFQ_GROUP_IOSCHED is the only multiqueue scheduler which comes with group scheduling so select it in configs previously choosing CFQ_GROUP_IOSCHED. 2020-02-24scsi: sr: remove references to BLK_DEV_SR_VENDOR, leave it enabledDiego Elio Pettenò1-1/+0
This kernel configuration is basically enabling/disabling sr driver quirks detection. While these quirks are for fairly rare devices (very old CD burners, and a glucometer), the additional detection of these models is a very minimal amount of code. The logic behind the quirks is always built into the sr driver. This also removes the config from all the defconfig files that are enabling this already. 2019-11-26sysctl: Remove the sysctl system callEric W. Biederman1-1/+0
This system call has been deprecated almost since it was introduced, and in a survey of the linux distributions I can no longer find any of them that enable CONFIG_SYSCTL_SYSCALL. The only indication that I can find that anyone might care is that a few of the defconfigs in the kernel enable CONFIG_SYSCTL_SYSCALL. However this appears in only 31 of 414 defconfigs in the kernel, so I suspect this symbols presence is simply because it is harmless to include rather than because it is necessary. As there appear to be no users of the sysctl system call, remove the code. As this removes one of the few uses of the internal kernel mount of proc I hope this allows for even more simplifications of the proc filesystem. This config option makes only couple of lines optional. Two small helpers and an int in couple of cls structs. Remove the config option and always compile this in. This saves the user from unexpected surprises when he adds a filter with ingress device match which is silently ignored in case the config option is not set. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today [...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient userland, 3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev"). 2019-04-06block: remove CONFIG_LBDAFChristoph Hellwig5-5/+0
Currently support for 64-bit sector_t and blkcnt_t is optional on 32-bit architectures. These types are required to support block device and/or file sizes larger than 2 TiB, and have generally defaulted to on for a long time. Enabling the option only increases the i386 tinyconfig size by 145 bytes, and many data structures already always use 64-bit values for their in-core and on-disk data structures anyway, so there should not be a large change in dynamic memory usage either. Dropping this option removes a somewhat weird non-default config that has cause various bugs or compiler warnings when actually used. 2018-12-18sh: sh03: rtc: push down rtc class ops into driverArnd Bergmann1-0/+2
The SH RTC support has an extra level of indirection to provide either the old read_persistent_clock/update_persistent_clock interface or the rtc-generic device for hctosys/systohc. By removing the indirection and always using the RTC_CLASS interface, we can avoid the lossy double conversion between rtc_time and timespec, so we end up supporting the entire range of 'year' values, and clarifying the rtc_set_time callback. I did not change the behavior of sh03_rtc_settimeofday(), which keeps just updating the seconds/minutes by calling set_rtc_mmss(), this could be improved if anyone cares. This doesn't have any benefit apart from saving a small amount of memory when it is disabled. The ifdef hackery in the code makes it dirty unnecessarily. Clean it up by removing the Kconfig option completely. Few defconfigs are also updated and CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_STAT_DETAILS is replaced with CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_STAT now in them, as users wanted stats to be enabled. The ns_cgroup is an annoying cgroup at the namespace / cgroup frontier and leads to some problems: * cgroup creation is out-of-control * cgroup name can conflict when pids are looping * it is not possible to have a single process handling a lot of namespaces without falling in a exponential creation time * we may want to create a namespace without creating a cgroup The ns_cgroup was replaced by a compatibility flag 'clone_children', where a newly created cgroup will copy the parent cgroup values. The userspace has to manually create a cgroup and add a task to the 'tasks' file. This patch removes the ns_cgroup as suggested in the following thread: https://lists.linux-foundation.org/pipermail/containers/2009-June/018616.html The 'cgroup_clone' function is removed because it is no longer used. This is a userspace-visible change. Commit 45531757b45c ("cgroup: notify ns_cgroup deprecated") (merged into 2.6.27) caused the kernel to emit a printk warning users that the feature is planned for removal.
