2020-11-26microblaze: Remove noMMU codeMichal Simek1-7/+0
This configuration is obsolete and likely none is really using it. That's why remove it to simplify code. Note about CONFIG_MMU in hw_exception_handler.S is left intentionally for better comment understanding. 2020-08-07mm: remove unneeded includes of <asm/pgalloc.h>Mike Rapoport1-1/+0
Patch series "mm: cleanup usage of <asm/pgalloc.h>" Most architectures have very similar versions of pXd_alloc_one() and pXd_free_one() for intermediate levels of page table. These patches add generic versions of these functions in <asm-generic/pgalloc.h> and enable use of the generic functions where appropriate. In addition, functions declared and defined in <asm/pgalloc.h> headers are used mostly by core mm and early mm initialization in arch and there is no actual reason to have the <asm/pgalloc.h> included all over the place. The first patch in this series removes unneeded includes of <asm/pgalloc.h> In the end it didn't work out as neatly as I hoped and moving pXd_alloc_track() definitions to <asm-generic/pgalloc.h> would require unnecessary changes to arches that have custom page table allocations, so I've decided to move lib/ioremap.c to mm/ and make pgalloc-track.h local to mm/. This patch (of 8): In most cases <asm/pgalloc.h> header is required only for allocations of page table memory. Most of the .c files that include that header do not use symbols declared in <asm/pgalloc.h> and do not require that header. As for the other header files that used to include <asm/pgalloc.h>, it is possible to move that include into the .c file that actually uses symbols from <asm/pgalloc.h> and drop the include from the header file. The process was somewhat automated using sed -i -E '/[<"]asm\/pgalloc\.h/d' \ $(grep -L -w -f /tmp/xx \ $(git grep -E -l '[<"]asm/pgalloc\.h')) where /tmp/xx contains all the symbols defined in arch/*/include/asm/pgalloc.h. 2020-06-09mm: don't include asm/pgtable.h if linux/mm.h is already includedMike Rapoport1-1/+0
Patch series "mm: consolidate definitions of page table accessors", v2. The low level page table accessors (pXY_index(), pXY_offset()) are duplicated across all architectures and sometimes more than once. For instance, we have 31 definition of pgd_offset() for 25 supported architectures. Most of these definitions are actually identical and typically it boils down to, e.g. static inline unsigned long pmd_index(unsigned long address) { return (address >> PMD_SHIFT) & (PTRS_PER_PMD - 1); } static inline pmd_t *pmd_offset(pud_t *pud, unsigned long address) { return (pmd_t *)pud_page_vaddr(*pud) + pmd_index(address); } These definitions can be shared among 90% of the arches provided XYZ_SHIFT, PTRS_PER_XYZ and xyz_page_vaddr() are defined. For architectures that really need a custom version there is always possibility to override the generic version with the usual ifdefs magic. These patches introduce include/linux/pgtable.h that replaces include/asm-generic/pgtable.h and add the definitions of the page table accessors to the new header. This patch (of 12): The linux/mm.h header includes <asm/pgtable.h> to allow inlining of the functions involving page table manipulations, e.g. pte_alloc() and pmd_alloc(). So, there is no point to explicitly include <asm/pgtable.h> in the files that include <linux/mm.h>. The include statements in such cases are remove with a simple loop: for f in $(git grep -l "include <linux/mm.h>") ; do sed -i -e '/include <asm\/pgtable.h>/ d' $f done Signed-off-by: Mike Rapoport <rppt@linux.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Cc: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Cc: Borislav Petkov <bp@alien8.de> Cc: Brian Cain <bcain@codeaurora.org> Cc: Catalin Marinas <catalin.marinas@arm.com> Cc: Chris Zankel <chris@zankel.net> Cc: "David S. 2019-01-03Remove 'type' argument from access_ok() functionLinus Torvalds1-2/+2
Nobody has actually used the type (VERIFY_READ vs VERIFY_WRITE) argument of the user address range verification function since we got rid of the old racy i386-only code to walk page tables by hand. It existed because the original 80386 would not honor the write protect bit when in kernel mode, so you had to do COW by hand before doing any user access. But we haven't supported that in a long time, and these days the 'type' argument is a purely historical artifact. A discussion about extending 'user_access_begin()' to do the range checking resulted this patch, because there is no way we're going to move the old VERIFY_xyz interface to that model. And it's best done at the end of the merge window when I've done most of my merges, so let's just get this done once and for all. This patch was mostly done with a sed-script, with manual fix-ups for the cases that weren't of the trivial 'access_ok(VERIFY_xyz' form. There were a couple of notable cases: - csky still had the old "verify_area()" name as an alias. - the iter_iov code had magical hardcoded knowledge of the actual values of VERIFY_{READ,WRITE} (not that they mattered, since nothing really used it) - microblaze used the type argument for a debug printout but other than those oddities this should be a total no-op patch. I tried to fix up all architectures, did fairly extensive grepping for access_ok() uses, and the changes are trivial, but I may have missed something. Any missed conversion should be trivially fixable, though. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2015-02-12all arches, signal: move restart_block to struct task_structAndy Lutomirski1-1/+1
If an attacker can cause a controlled kernel stack overflow, overwriting the restart block is a very juicy exploit target. This is because the restart_block is held in the same memory allocation as the kernel stack. Moving the restart block to struct task_struct prevents this exploit by making the restart_block harder to locate. Note that there are other fields in thread_info that are also easy targets, at least on some architectures. It's also a decent simplification, since the restart code is more or less identical on all architectures. 2012-05-21microblaze: use set_current_blocked() and block_sigmask()Matt Fleming1-10/+2
As described in e6fa16ab ("signal: sigprocmask() should do retarget_shared_pending()") the modification of current->blocked is incorrect as we need to check whether the signal we're about to block is pending in the shared queue. Also, use the new helper function introduced in commit 5e6292c0f28f ("signal: add block_sigmask() for adding sigmask to current->blocked") which centralises the code for updating current->blocked after successfully delivering a signal and reduces the amount of duplicate code across architectures. In the past some architectures got this code wrong, so using this helper function should stop that from happening again. 2012-05-21microblaze: fix signal maskingMatt Fleming1-13/+18
There are a couple of problems with the current signal code, 1. If we failed to setup the signal stack frame then we should not be masking any signals. 2. ka->sa.sa_mask is only added to the current blocked signals list if SA_NODEFER is set in ka->sa.sa_flags. If we successfully setup the signal frame and are going to run the handler then we must honour sa_mask. 2012-05-21microblaze: no need to reset handler if SA_ONESHOTMatt Fleming1-3/+0
get_signal_to_deliver() already resets the signal handler if SA_ONESHOT is set in ka->sa.sa_flags, there's no need to do it again in handle_signal(). Furthermore, because we were modifying ka->sa.sa_handler (which is a copy of sighand->action[]) instead of sighand->action[] the original code actually had no effect on signal delivery. 2012-05-21microblaze: don't reimplement force_sigsegv()Matt Fleming1-3/+1
Instead of open coding the sequence from force_sigsegv() just call it. This also fixes a bug because we were modifying ka->sa.sa_handler (which is a copy of sighand->action[]), whereas the intention of the code was to modify sighand->action[] directly. As the original code was working with a copy it had no effect on signal delivery. 2011-03-09microblaze: Remove r0_ram pointer and PTO alignmentMichal Simek1-2/+2
r0_ram pool was used for saving/restoring register content if hw exception happen. This poll was replaced by pt_pool_space with PT_SIZE size. Based on this change SAVE_STATE_ARG_SPACE was removed which caused that PTO offset is zero that's why is also removed. r0_ram space was used as scratchpad by v850. In early Microblaze Linux developing phase was this part of code blindly copied. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>

2009-07-06microblaze: clean up signal handlingArnd Bergmann1-136/+36
When legacy signal handling is disabled, the arch/microblaze/kernel/signal.c implementation can be much simpler, as most of it is handled generically from kernel/signal.c. This is also a prerequisite for using the generic asm/unistd.h, which does not provide __NR_sigreturn, because this macro is referenced by the current signal.c implementation.
