2017-09-08arch: define CPU_BIG_ENDIAN for all fixed big endian archsBabu Moger1-0/+3
Patch series "Define CPU_BIG_ENDIAN or warn for inconsistencies", v3. While working on enabling queued rwlock on SPARC, found this following code in include/asm-generic/qrwlock.h which uses CONFIG_CPU_BIG_ENDIAN to clear a byte. static inline u8 *__qrwlock_write_byte(struct qrwlock *lock) { return (u8 *)lock + 3 * IS_BUILTIN(CONFIG_CPU_BIG_ENDIAN); } Problem is many of the fixed big endian architectures don't define CPU_BIG_ENDIAN and clears the wrong byte. Define CPU_BIG_ENDIAN for all the fixed big endian architecture to fix it. Also found few more references of this config parameter in drivers/of/base.c drivers/of/fdt.c drivers/tty/serial/earlycon.c drivers/tty/serial/serial_core.c Be aware that this may cause regressions if someone has worked-around problems in the above code already. Remove the work-around. 2017-06-30drivers: dma-mapping: allow dma_common_mmap() for NOMMUVladimir Murzin1-0/+1
Currently, internals of dma_common_mmap() is compiled out if build is done for either NOMMU or target which explicitly says it does not have/want coherent DMA mmap. It turned out that dma_common_mmap() can be handy in NOMMU setup (at least for ARM). This patch converts exitent NOMMU targets to use ARCH_NO_COHERENT_DMA_MMAP, thus when CONFIG_MMU is gone from dma_common_mmap() their behaviour stays unchanged. ARM is not converted to ARCH_NO_COHERENT_DMA_MMAP because it 1) already has mmap callback which can handle (at some extent) NOMMU 2) already defines dummy pgprot_noncached() for NOMMU build. c6x and frv stay untouched since they already have ARCH_NO_COHERENT_DMA_MMAP. 2016-09-26m68k: move CONFIG_FPU set to per-CPU configurationGreg Ungerer1-1/+0
Move the selection of CONFIG_FPU to each CPU type configuration. Currently for m68k we have a global set of CONFIG_FPU based on if CONFIG_MMU is enabled or not. There is at least one CPU family we support (m5441x) that has an MMU but has no FPU hardware. So we need to be able to have CONFIG_MMU set and CONFIG_FPU not set. Whether we build for a CPU with MMU enabled or not doesn't change the fact that it has FPU hardware support. Our current non-MMU builds have never had CONIG_FPU enabled - and in fact the kernel will not compile with that set and CONFIG_MMU not set at the moment. It is easy enough to fix this - but it would involve a structure change to sigcontext.h, and that is a user space exported header (so ABI change). This change makes no configuration visible changes, and all configs end up with the same configuration settings as before. This change based on changes and discussion from Yannick Gicquel <yannick.gicquel@open.eurogiciel.org>. Signed-off-by: Greg Ungerer <gerg@linux-m68k.org>
2015-09-10kexec: split kexec_load syscall from kexec core codeDave Young1-0/+1
There are two kexec load syscalls, kexec_load another and kexec_file_load. kexec_file_load has been splited as kernel/kexec_file.c. In this patch I split kexec_load syscall code to kernel/kexec.c. And add a new kconfig option KEXEC_CORE, so we can disable kexec_load and use kexec_file_load only, or vice verse. The original requirement is from Ted Ts'o, he want kexec kernel signature being checked with CONFIG_KEXEC_VERIFY_SIG enabled. But kexec-tools use kexec_load syscall can bypass the checking. Vivek Goyal proposed to create a common kconfig option so user can compile in only one syscall for loading kexec kernel. KEXEC/KEXEC_FILE selects KEXEC_CORE so that old config files still work. Because there's general code need CONFIG_KEXEC_CORE, so I updated all the architecture Kconfig with a new option KEXEC_CORE, and let KEXEC selects KEXEC_CORE in arch Kconfig. Also updated general kernel code with to kexec_load syscall. [akpm@linux-foundation.org: coding-style fixes] Signed-off-by: Dave Young <dyoung@redhat.com> Cc: Eric W. 2014-08-29kexec: remove CONFIG_KEXEC dependency on cryptoVivek Goyal1-2/+0
New system call depends on crypto. As it did not have a separate config option, CONFIG_KEXEC was modified to select CRYPTO and CRYPTO_SHA256. But now previous patch introduced a new config option for new syscall. So CONFIG_KEXEC does not require crypto. Remove that dependency. 2014-08-08kexec: load and relocate purgatory at kernel load timeVivek Goyal1-0/+2
Load purgatory code in RAM and relocate it based on the location. Relocation code has been inspired by module relocation code and purgatory relocation code in kexec-tools. Also compute the checksums of loaded kexec segments and store them in purgatory. Arch independent code provides this functionality so that arch dependent bootloaders can make use of it. Helper functions are provided to get/set symbol values in purgatory which are used by bootloaders later to set things like stack and entry point of second kernel etc. Signed-off-by: Vivek Goyal <vgoyal@redhat.com> Cc: Borislav Petkov <bp@suse.de> Cc: Michael Kerrisk <mtk.manpages@gmail.com> Cc: Yinghai Lu <yinghai@kernel.org> Cc: Eric Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> Cc: H. 2014-04-07Kconfig: rename HAS_IOPORT to HAS_IOPORT_MAPUwe Kleine-König1-1/+1
If the renamed symbol is defined lib/iomap.c implements ioport_map and ioport_unmap and currently (nearly) all platforms define the port accessor functions outb/inb and friend unconditionally. So HAS_IOPORT_MAP is the better name for this. Consequently NO_IOPORT is renamed to NO_IOPORT_MAP. The motivation for this change is to reintroduce a symbol HAS_IOPORT that signals if outb/int et al are available. I will address that at least one merge window later though to keep surprises to a minimum and catch new introductions of (HAS|NO)_IOPORT. 2012-09-28Make most arch asm/module.h files use asm-generic/module.hDavid Howells1-0/+3
Use the mapping of Elf_[SPE]hdr, Elf_Addr, Elf_Sym, Elf_Dyn, Elf_Rel/Rela, ELF_R_TYPE() and ELF_R_SYM() to either the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version into asm-generic/module.h for all arches bar MIPS. Also, use the generic definition mod_arch_specific where possible. To this end, I've defined three new config bools: (*) HAVE_MOD_ARCH_SPECIFIC Arches define this if they don't want to use the empty generic mod_arch_specific struct. (*) MODULES_USE_ELF_RELA Arches define this if their modules can contain RELA records. This causes the Elf_Rela mapping to be emitted and allows apply_relocate_add() to be defined by the arch rather than have the core emit an error message. (*) MODULES_USE_ELF_REL Arches define this if their modules can contain REL records. This causes the Elf_Rel mapping to be emitted and allows apply_relocate() to be defined by the arch rather than have the core emit an error message. Note that it is possible to allow both REL and RELA records: m68k and mips are two arches that do this. With this, some arch asm/module.h files can be deleted entirely and replaced with a generic-y marker in the arch Kbuild file. Additionally, I have removed the bits from m32r and score that handle the unsupported type of relocation record as that's now handled centrally. Instead of adding the includes to those, we are better off to move the include to init/Kconfig like we did already with irqs and others. This does not change anything for the architectures using the old style periodic timer mode. It just solves the build wreckage there. For those architectures which use the clock events infrastructure it moves the include of the core Kconfig file to "General setup" which is a way more logical place than having it at random locations specified by the architecture specific Kconfigs. 2012-03-05m68k: make support for FPU hardware configurableGreg Ungerer1-0/+4
The classic m68k code has always supported an FPU (although it may have been a software emulated one). The non-MMU m68k code has never supported FPU hardware. To help in merging common code create a configation setting that signifies if we are builing in FPU support or not. This switch, CONFIG_FPU, is set as per the current use cases. So it is always enabled if CONFIG_MMU is set, and disabled otherwise. With a little extra code it will be possible to disable it on the classic m68k platforms as well, and to enable it on non-MMU platforms that do have hardware FPU. 2012-03-05m68knommu: remove unused CONFIG_GENERIC_CMOS_UPDATE optionGreg Ungerer1-3/+0
The CONFIG_GENERIC_CMOS_UPDATE switch is always enabled for the non-MMU m68k case. But the underlying code to support it, update_persistent_clock(), doesn't end up doing anything on the currently supported non-MMU platforms. No platforms supply the necessary function support for writing back the RTC. So lets remove this option and support code. This also brings m68knommu in line with the m68k, which doesn't enabled this switch either. Signed-off-by: Greg Ungerer <gerg@uclinux.org>
2012-01-11cpu: Register a generic CPU device on architectures that currently do notBen Hutchings1-0/+1
frv, h8300, m68k, microblaze, openrisc, score, um and xtensa currently do not register a CPU device. Add the config option GENERIC_CPU_DEVICES which causes a generic CPU device to be registered for each present CPU, and make all these architectures select it. Richard Weinberger <richard@nod.at> covered UML and suggested using per_cpu. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <ben@decadent.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

lib: use generic pci_iomap on all architectures Many architectures don't want to pull in iomap.c, so they ended up duplicating pci_iomap from that file. That function isn't trivial, and we are going to modify it https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/11/14/183 so the duplication hurts. This reduces the scope of the problem significantly, by moving pci_iomap to a separate file and referencing that from all architectures. * tag 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mst/vhost: alpha: drop pci_iomap/pci_iounmap from pci-noop.c mn10300: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP mn10300: add missing __iomap markers frv: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP tile: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP tile: don't panic on iomap sparc: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP sh: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP powerpc: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP parisc: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP mips: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP microblaze: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP arm: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP alpha: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP lib: add GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP lib: move GENERIC_IOMAP to lib/Kconfig Fix up trivial conflicts due to changes nearby in arch/{m68k,score}/Kconfig
2011-12-30m68k: ColdFire with MMU enabled uses same clocking code as non-MMUGreg Ungerer1-1/+1
We want to use the same timer support code for ColdFire CPU's when running with MMU enabled or not. So use the same time_no.c code even when the MMU is enabled for ColdFire. This also means we do not want CONFIG_ARCH_USES_GETTIMEOFFSET set, since that code is only in time_mm.c. 2011-12-30m68k: compile appropriate mm arch files for ColdFire MMU supportGreg Ungerer1-1/+4

2011-12-30m68k: modify user space access functions to support ColdFire CPUsGreg Ungerer1-0/+3
Modify the user space access functions to support the ColdFire V4e cores running with MMU enabled. The ColdFire processors do not support the "moves" instruction used by the traditional 680x0 processors for moving data into and out of another address space. They only support the notion of a single address space, and you use the usual "move" instruction to access that. Create a new config symbol (CONFIG_CPU_HAS_ADDRESS_SPACES) to mark the CPU types that support separate address spaces, and thus also support the sfc/dfc registers and the "moves" instruction that go along with that. The code is almost identical for user space access, so lets just use a define to choose either the "move" or "moves" in the assembler code. 2011-12-24m68k: handle presence of 64bit mul/div instructions cleanlyGreg Ungerer1-0/+3
The traditional 68000 processors and the newer reduced instruction set ColdFire processors do not support the 32*32->64 multiply or the 64/32->32 divide instructions. This is not a difference based on the presence of a hardware MMU or not. Create a new config symbol to mark that a CPU type doesn't support the longer multiply/divide instructions. Use this then as a basis for using the fast 64bit based divide (in div64.h) and for linking in the extra libgcc functions that may be required (mulsi3, divsi3, etc). 2011-12-24m68k: simpler m68k and ColdFire CPU's can use generic csum codeGreg Ungerer1-0/+3
We have two implementations of the IP checksuming code for the m68k arch. One uses the more advanced instructions available in 68020 and above processors, the other uses the simpler instructions available on the original 68000 processors and the modern ColdFire processors. This simpler code is pretty much the same as the generic lib implementation of the IP csum functions. So lets just switch over to using that. That means we can completely remove the checksum_no.c file, and only have the local fast code used for the more complex 68k CPU family members. Signed-off-by: Greg Ungerer <gerg@uclinux.org>
2011-12-24m68k: selection of GENERIC_ATOMIC64 is not MMU specificGreg Ungerer1-1/+0
