2009-12-06i2c-stub: Documentation updateJean Delvare1-2/+2

2009-12-06i2c-stub: Allow user to disable some commandsJean Delvare1-0/+6
Add a module parameter to override the functionality bitfield. This lets the user disable some commands. This can be used to force a chip driver to take different code paths. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org>
2009-12-06i2c-stub: Implement I2C block supportJean Delvare1-3/+3
This is required to test some drivers, for example at24. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org>
2009-12-06i2c: Drop probe, ignore and force module parametersJean Delvare1-0/+44
The legacy probe and force module parameters are obsolete now, the same can be achieved using the new_device sysfs interface, which is both more flexible and cheaper (it is implemented by i2c-core rather than replicated in every driver module.) The legacy ignore module parameters can be dropped as well. Ignoring can be done by instantiating a "dummy" device at the problematic address. This is the first step of a huge cleanup to i2c-core's i2c_detect function, i2c.h's I2C_CLIENT_INSMOD* macros, and all drivers that made use of them. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org>
2009-12-06i2c-voodoo3: DeleteJean Delvare2-71/+0
Superseded by tdfxfb. I2C/DDC support used to live in a separate driver but this caused driver conflicts. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Cc: Krzysztof Helt <krzysztof.h1@wp.pl>
2009-12-06PM: Add flag for devices capable of generating run-time wake-up eventsRafael J. Wysocki1-2/+5
Apparently, there are devices that can wake up the system from sleep states and yet are incapable of generating wake-up events at run time. Thus, introduce a flag indicating if given device is capable of generating run-time wake-up events. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. Wysocki <rjw@sisk.pl>
2009-12-06PM / Runtime: Make documentation of runtime_idle() agree with the codeRafael J. Wysocki1-2/+3
Currently the ->runtime_idle() callback is documented as having no return value, but in fact it returns int. Although its return value is ignored at the PM core level, it may be used by bus type routines executing the drivers' ->runtime_idle() callbacks. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. Wysocki <rjw@sisk.pl> Reported-by: Alan Stern <stern@rowland.harvard.edu>

2009-12-03ipv4 05/05: add sysctl to accept packets with local source addressesPatrick McHardy1-0/+6
commit 8ec1e0ebe26087bfc5c0394ada5feb5758014fc8 Author: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Date: Thu Dec 3 12:16:35 2009 +0100 ipv4: add sysctl to accept packets with local source addresses Change fib_validate_source() to accept packets with a local source address when the "accept_local" sysctl is set for the incoming inet device. 2009-12-03KVM: x86: Add KVM_GET/SET_VCPU_EVENTSJan Kiszka1-0/+49
This new IOCTL exports all yet user-invisible states related to exceptions, interrupts, and NMIs. Together with appropriate user space changes, this fixes sporadic problems of vmsave/restore, live migration and system reset. 2009-12-03KVM: allow userspace to adjust kvmclock offsetGlauber Costa1-0/+36
When we migrate a kvm guest that uses pvclock between two hosts, we may suffer a large skew. This is because there can be significant differences between the monotonic clock of the hosts involved. When a new host with a much larger monotonic time starts running the guest, the view of time will be significantly impacted. Situation is much worse when we do the opposite, and migrate to a host with a smaller monotonic clock. This proposed ioctl will allow userspace to inform us what is the monotonic clock value in the source host, so we can keep the time skew short, and more importantly, never goes backwards. Userspace may also need to trigger the current data, since from the first migration onwards, it won't be reflected by a simple call to clock_gettime() anymore. 2009-12-03KVM: Xen PV-on-HVM guest supportEd Swierk1-0/+24
Support for Xen PV-on-HVM guests can be implemented almost entirely in userspace, except for handling one annoying MSR that maps a Xen hypercall blob into guest address space. A generic mechanism to delegate MSR writes to userspace seems overkill and risks encouraging similar MSR abuse in the future. Thus this patch adds special support for the Xen HVM MSR. I implemented a new ioctl, KVM_XEN_HVM_CONFIG, that lets userspace tell KVM which MSR the guest will write to, as well as the starting address and size of the hypercall blobs (one each for 32-bit and 64-bit) that userspace has loaded from files. When the guest writes to the MSR, KVM copies one page of the blob from userspace to the guest. I've tested this patch with a hacked-up version of Gerd's userspace code, booting a number of guests (CentOS 5.3 i386 and x86_64, and FreeBSD 8.0-RC1 amd64) and exercising PV network and block devices. 2009-12-02TCPCT part 1c: sysctl_tcp_cookie_size, socket option TCP_COOKIE_TRANSACTIONSWilliam Allen Simpson1-0/+8
Define sysctl (tcp_cookie_size) to turn on and off the cookie option default globally, instead of a compiled configuration option. Define per socket option (TCP_COOKIE_TRANSACTIONS) for setting constant data values, retrieving variable cookie values, and other facilities. Move inline tcp_clear_options() unchanged from net/tcp.h to linux/tcp.h, near its corresponding struct tcp_options_received (prior to changes). This is a straightforward re-implementation of an earlier (year-old) patch that no longer applies cleanly, with permission of the original author (Adam Langley): http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.network/102586 These functions will also be used in subsequent patches that implement additional features.
