2020-04-14media: docs: get rid of Documentation/media/Mauro Carvalho Chehab1-23/+0
Now that everything got moved, we can get rid of the old media directory. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org>
2020-04-14media: docs: add an uAPI chapter for driver-specific stuffMauro Carvalho Chehab1-2/+0
There are some uAPI stuff that are driver-specific. Add them to the main media uAPI body. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org>
2020-04-14media: docs: move driver-specific info to driver-apiMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+0
Those documents don't really describe the driver API. Instead, they contain development-specific information. Yet, as the main index file describes the content of it as: "how specific kernel subsystems work from the point of view of a kernel developer" It seems to be the better fit. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org>
2020-04-14media: docs: move user-facing docs to the admin guideMauro Carvalho Chehab1-2/+2
Most of the driver-specific documentation is meant to help users of the media subsystem. Move them to the admin-guide. It should be noticed, however, that several of those files are outdated and will require further work in order to make them useful again. 2020-04-14media: docs: kAPI docs: move them to driver-apiMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+1
All those documents describe the media driver API. So, move them to the right place within the Kernel documentation. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org>
2020-04-14media: docs: move uAPI book to userspace-api/mediaMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+1
Since 2017, there is an space reserved for userspace API, created by changeset 1d596dee3862 ("docs: Create a user-space API guide"). As the media subsystem was one of the first subsystems to use Sphinx, until this patch, we were keeping things on a separate place. Let's just use the new location, as having all uAPI altogether will likely make things easier for developers. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org>
2019-03-30media: index.rst: exclude Indexes section from latex/pdf outputMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+1
With LaTex, the Index at the end will always be present. Having an extra chapter for it there will just add extra noise to the document. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+samsung@kernel.org>
2018-12-05media: docs: brainless mass add SPDX headers to all media filesMauro Carvalho Chehab1-0/+2
All Documentation files outside the uAPI are all licensed with, at least, GPL 2.0. So, mark them as such. The ondes at media/uapi are at least GFDL 1.1+. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+samsung@kernel.org>
2017-09-05media: index.rst: don't write "Contents:" on PDF outputMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+5
Right now, Sphinx unconditionally creates a blank page with just "Contents:" on it, on PDF output. While this makes sense for html, it doesn't o PDF, as LaTeX does what's required automatically. Fix it. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@s-opensource.com>
2017-07-18media: pulse8-cec.rst: add documentation for the pulse8-cec driverHans Verkuil1-0/+1
Document the persistent_config module option. Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hans.verkuil@cisco.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@s-opensource.com>
2016-11-16docs-rst: fix LaTeX \DURole renewcommand with Sphinx 1.3+Mauro Carvalho Chehab1-5/+0
PDF build on Kernel 4.9-rc? returns an error with Sphinx 1.3.x and Sphinx 1.4.x, when trying to solve some cross-references. The solution is to redefine the \DURole macro. However, this is redefined too late. Move such redefinition to LaTeX preamble and bind it to just the Sphinx versions where the error is known to be present. Tested by building the documentation on interactive mode: make PDFLATEX=xelatex -C Documentation/output/./latex Fixes: e61a39baf74d ("[media] index.rst: Fix LaTeX error in interactive mode on Sphinx 1.4.x") Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@s-opensource.com> Signed-off-by: Jonathan Corbet <corbet@lwn.net>
2016-08-22[media] index.rst: Fix LaTeX error in interactive mode on Sphinx 1.4.xMauro Carvalho Chehab1-0/+5
The Sphinx 1.4.x definition for \DUrole is: \providecommand*{\DUrole}[2]{% \ifcsname DUrole#1\endcsname% \csname DUrole#1\endcsname{#2}% \else% backwards compatibility: try \docutilsrole#1{#2} \ifcsname docutilsrole#1\endcsname% \csname docutilsrole#1\endcsname{#2}% \else% #2% \fi% \fi% } This is broken when it is used inside a \begin{alltt} block. So, replace it by just "#2", as this won't cause troubles, and it is one of the fallback methods for it. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@s-opensource.com>
2016-08-18doc-rst: add index to sub-foldersMarkus Heiser1-0/+7
Add a index if only a sub-folder is build e.g.:: make SPHINXDIRS=media cleandocs htmldocs BTW: removed dead search link in the top-index file Signed-off-by: Markus Heiser <markus.heiser@darmarIT.de> Signed-off-by: Jonathan Corbet <corbet@lwn.net>
2016-08-14doc-rst: add stand-alone conf.py to media folderMarkus Heiser1-0/+12
With the media/conf.py, and media/index.rst the media folder can be build and distributed stand-alone. Signed-off-by: Markus Heiser <markus.heiser@darmarIT.de> Signed-off-by: Jonathan Corbet <corbet@lwn.net>
