2021-05-21usb: Restore the usb_header labelFabio Estevam1-0/+2
Commit caa93d9bd2d7 ("usb: Fix up movement of USB core kerneldoc location") removed the reference to the _usb_header label by mistake, which causes the following htmldocs build warning: Documentation/driver-api/usb/writing_usb_driver.rst:129: WARNING: undefined label: usb_header Restore the label. Fixes: caa93d9bd2d7 ("usb: Fix up movement of USB core kerneldoc location") Reported-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Fabio Estevam <festevam@gmail.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20210521013608.17957-1-festevam@gmail.com Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2021-05-10usb: Restore the reference to ch9.hFabio Estevam1-6/+9
Keep the textual reference to ch9.h as it was prior to commit caa93d9bd2d7 ("usb: Fix up movement of USB core kerneldoc location"). As linux/usb/ch9.h does not contain comments anymore, explain that drivers/usb/common/common.c includes such header and provides declarations of a few utilities routines for manipulating the data types from ch9.h. Also mention that drivers/usb/common/debug.c contains some functions for creating debug output. 2021-04-24usb: Fix up movement of USB core kerneldoc locationFabio Estevam1-7/+8
Commit 855b35ea96c4 ("usb: common: move function's kerneldoc next to its definition") moved the USB common function documentation out of the linux/usb/ch9.h header file into drivers/usb/common/common.c and drivers/usb/common/debug.c, which causes the following 'make htmldocs' build warning: include/linux/usb/ch9.h:1: warning: no structured comments found Fix that up by pointing the documentation at the correct location. 2017-04-20usb.rst: move documentation from proc_usb_info.txt to USB ReST bookMauro Carvalho Chehab1-34/+405
The contents of proc_usb_info.txt complements what's there at driver-api usb book. Yet, it is outdated, as it still refers to the USB character devices as usbfs. So, move the contents to usb.rst, adjusting it to point to the right places. 2017-04-20docs-rst: usb: update old usbfs-related documentationMauro Carvalho Chehab1-120/+60
There's no usbfs anymore. The old features are now either exported to /dev/bus/usb or via debugfs. Update documentation accordingly, pointing to the new places where the character devices and usb/devices are now placed. 2017-04-11usb/URB.txt: convert to ReST and update itMauro Carvalho Chehab1-0/+2
The URB doc describes the Kernel mechanism that do USB transfers. While the functions are already described at urb.h, there are a number of concepts and theory that are important for USB driver developers. Convert it to ReST and use C ref links to point to the places at usb.h where each function and struct is located. A few of those descriptions were incomplete. While here, update to reflect the current API status. 2017-04-11docs-rst: convert usb docbooks to ReSTMauro Carvalho Chehab1-0/+748
As we're moving out of DocBook, let's convert the remaining USB docbooks to ReST. The transformation itself on this patch is a no-brainer conversion using pandoc via this script: Documentation/sphinx/tmplcvt Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@s-opensource.com> Acked-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Signed-off-by: Jonathan Corbet <corbet@lwn.net>
