2021-06-21dt-bindings: Drop redundant minItems/maxItemsRob Herring1-1/+0
If a property has an 'items' list, then a 'minItems' or 'maxItems' with the same size as the list is redundant and can be dropped. Note that is DT schema specific behavior and not standard json-schema behavior. The tooling will fixup the final schema adding any unspecified minItems/maxItems. This condition is partially checked with the meta-schema already, but only if both 'minItems' and 'maxItems' are equal to the 'items' length. An improved meta-schema is pending. 2021-01-11dt-bindings: Add missing array size constraintsRob Herring1-0/+1
DT properties which can have multiple entries need to specify what the entries are and define how many entries there can be. In the case of only a single entry, just 'maxItems: 1' is sufficient. Add the missing entry constraints. These were found with a modified meta-schema. Unfortunately, there are a few cases where the size constraints are not defined such as common bindings, so the meta-schema can't be part of the normal checks. 2020-10-07dt-bindings: Add missing 'unevaluatedProperties'Rob Herring1-0/+2
This doesn't yet do anything in the tools, but make it explicit so we can check either 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties' is present in schemas. 'unevaluatedProperties' is appropriate when including another schema (via '$ref') and all possible properties and/or child nodes are not explicitly listed in the schema with the '$ref'. This is in preparation to add a meta-schema to check for missing 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties'. This has been a constant source of review issues. 2020-06-11dt-bindings: Remove more cases of 'allOf' containing a '$ref'Rob Herring1-12/+9
Another round of 'allOf' removals that came in this cycle. json-schema versions draft7 and earlier have a weird behavior in that any keywords combined with a '$ref' are ignored (silently). The correct form was to put a '$ref' under an 'allOf'. This behavior is now changed in the 2019-09 json-schema spec and '$ref' can be mixed with other keywords. The json-schema library doesn't yet support this, but the tooling now does a fixup for this and either way works. This is specified as shared because some SoCs like UniPhier series have common reset controls with all ahci controller instances. The ahci_platform_get_resources() can get and control the reset only when the second argument includes AHCI_PLATFORM_GET_RESETS bit. Add fallback compatibility string for R-Car Gen 2 and 3. In the case of Renesas R-Car hardware we know that there are generations of SoCs, e.g. Gen 1 and 2. But beyond that its not clear what the relationship between IP blocks might be. For example, I believe that r8a7790 is older than r8a7791 but that doesn't imply that the latter is a descendant of the former or vice versa. We can, however, by examining the documentation and behaviour of the hardware at run-time observe that the current driver implementation appears to be compatible with the IP blocks on SoCs within a given generation. For the above reasons and convenience when enabling new SoCs a per-generation fallback compatibility string scheme being adopted for drivers for Renesas SoCs.
