2022-09-05regmap: trace: Remove useless check for NULL for bulk opsAndy Shevchenko1-2/+1
If the buffer pointer is NULL we already are in troubles since regmap bulk API expects caller to provide valid parameters, it dereferences that without any checks before we call for traces. Moreover, the current code will print garbage in the case of buffer is NULL and length is not 0. Currently, only one-register io operations support tracepoints with value logging. For the regmap bulk operations developer can view hw_start/hw_done tracepoints with starting reg number and registers count to be reading or writing. This patch injects tracepoints with dumping registers values in the hex format to regmap bulk reading and writing. 2022-08-22regmap/hexagon: Properly fix the generic IO helpersLinus Walleij1-0/+23
I was too naive in just including <asm-generic/io.h> into hexagon: one has to specify defines for every call that uses a (static) inline or this will not work. Fix it up by providing proper defines for all shorthands that hexagon provides. Compile-tested with hexagon LLVM which is the only working cross compiler for hexagon ATM after commenting out the -fno-inline-functions-called-once switch which isn't working with LLVM. 2022-08-17regmap: mmio: Support accelerared noinc operationsLinus Walleij2-0/+164
Use the newly added callback for accelerated noinc MMIO to provide writesb, writesw, writesl, writesq, readsb, readsw, readsl and readsq. A special quirk is needed to deal with big endian regmaps: there are no accelerated operations defined for big endian, so fall back to calling the big endian operations itereatively for this case. The Hexagon architecture turns out to have an incomplete <asm/io.h>: writesb() is not implemented. Fix this by doing what other architectures do: include <asm-generic/io.h> into the <asm/io.h> file. 2022-08-17regmap: Support accelerated noinc operationsLinus Walleij2-3/+128
Several architectures have accelerated operations for MMIO operations writing to a single register, such as writesb, writesw, writesl, writesq, readsb, readsw, readsl and readsq but regmap currently cannot use them because we have no hooks for providing an accelerated noinc back-end for MMIO. Solve this by providing reg_[read/write]_noinc callbacks for the bus abstraction, so that the regmap-mmio bus can use this. Currently I do not see a need to support this for custom regmaps so it is only added to the bus. Callbacks are passed a void * with the array of values and a count which is the number of items of the byte chunk size for the specific register width. 2022-08-15regmap: mmio: Fix MMIO accessors to avoid talking to IO portAndy Shevchenko1-4/+4
Currently regmap MMIO is inconsistent with IO accessors. I.e. the Big Endian counterparts are using ioreadXXbe() / iowriteXXbe() which are not clean implementations of readXXbe(). That said, reimplement current Big Endian MMIO accessors by replacing ioread()/iowrite() with respective read()/write() and swab() calls. Note, there are no current in-kernel users that may utilize the functionality of the IO ports on Big Endian hardware. All drivers that use regmap MMIO either Little Endian, or they don't map IO ports in a way that ioreadXX()/iowriteXX() may be utilized. Some users may use regmap MMIO for IO ports, and this can be done by assigning ioreadXX()/iowriteXX() and their Big Endian counterparts to the regmap context. Add IO port support with a corresponding flag added. While doing that, make sure that user won't select relaxed MMIO access along with IO port because the latter have no relaxed variants. 2022-08-15regmap: mmio: Get rid of broken 64-bit IOAndy Shevchenko1-49/+0
The current implementation, besides having no active users, is broken by design of regmap. For 64-bit IO we need to supply 64-bit value, otherwise there is no way to handle upper 32 bits in 64-bit register. Hence, remove the broken IO accessors for good and wait for real user that can fix entire regmap API for that. 2022-08-13afs: Enable multipage folio supportDavid Howells2-1/+3
Enable multipage folio support for the afs filesystem. Support has already been implemented in netfslib, fscache and cachefiles and in most of afs, but I've waited for Matthew Wilcox's latest folio changes. Note that it does require a change to afs_write_begin() to return the correct subpage. This is a "temporary" change as we're working on getting rid of the need for ->write_begin() and ->write_end() completely, at least as far as network filesystems are concerned - but it doesn't prevent afs from making use of the capability. 2022-08-13perf test: Refactor shell tests allowing subdirsCarsten Haitzler4-134/+238
This is a prelude to adding more tests to shell tests and in order to support putting those tests into subdirectories, I need to change the test code that scans/finds and runs them. To support subdirs I have to recurse so it's time to refactor the code to allow this and centralize the shell script finding into one location and only one single scan that builds a list of all the found tests in memory instead of it being duplicated in 3 places. This code also optimizes things like knowing the max width of desciption strings (as we can do that while we scan instead of a whole new pass of opening files). It also more cleanly filters scripts to see only *.sh files thus skipping random other files in directories like *~ backup files, other random junk/data files that may appear and the scripts must be executable to make the cut (this ensures the script lib dir is not seen as scripts to run). This avoids perf test running previous older versions of test scripts that are editor backup files as well as skipping perf.data files that may appear and so on. If a shorter string ends a longer string then the shorter string may reuse the longer string at an offset. For example, on x86 the event arith.cycles_div_busy and cycles_div_busy can be folded, even though they have difference names the strings are identical after 6 characters. cycles_div_busy can reuse the arith.cycles_div_busy string at an offset of 6. Other organizations can benefit more from folding, but lose space by say recording more offsets. 2022-08-13perf jevents: Compress the pmu_events_tableIan Rogers1-45/+162
The pmu_events array requires 15 pointers per entry which in position independent code need relocating. Change the array to be an array of offsets within a big C string. Only the offset of the first variable is required, subsequent variables are stored in order after the \0 terminator (requiring a byte per variable rather than 4 bytes per offset). The file size savings are: no jevents - the same 19,788,464bytes x86 jevents - ~16.7% file size saving 23,744,288bytes vs 28,502,632bytes all jevents - ~19.5% file size saving 24,469,056bytes vs 30,379,920bytes default build options plus NO_LIBBFD=1. For example, the x86 build savings come from .rela.dyn and .data.rel.ro becoming smaller by 3,157,032bytes and 3,042,016bytes respectively. .rodata increases by 1,432,448bytes, giving an overall 4,766,600bytes saving. To make metric strings more shareable, the topic is changed from say 'skx metrics' to just 'metrics'. To try to help with the memory layout the pmu_events are ordered as used by perf qsort comparator functions. 2022-08-13perf pmu-events: Don't assume pmu_event is an arrayIan Rogers7-182/+313
The current code assumes that a struct pmu_event can be iterated over forward until a NULL pmu_event is encountered. This makes it difficult to refactor pmu_event. Add a loop function taking a callback function that's passed the struct pmu_event. This way the pmu_event is only needed for one element and not an entire array. Switch existing code iterating over the pmu_event arrays to use the new loop function pmu_events_table_for_each_event.
