2006-09-08[DLM] confirm master for recovered waiting requestsDavid Teigland1-0/+2
Fixing the following scenario: - A request is on the waiters list waiting for a reply from a remote node. - The request is the first one on the resource, so first_lkid is set. - The remote node fails causing recovery. - During recovery the requesting node becomes master. - The request is now processed locally instead of being a remote operation. - At this point we need to call confirm_master() on the resource since we're certain we're now the master node. This will clear first_lkid. - We weren't calling confirm_master(), so first_lkid was not being cleared causing subsequent requests on that resource to get stuck. 2006-09-08[GFS2] Move rwlocks in glock.c into their own arraySteven Whitehouse2-51/+43
This splits the rwlocks guarding the hash chains of the glock hash table into their own array. This will reduce memory usage in some cases due to better alignment, although the real reason for doing it is to allow the two tables to be different sizes in future (i.e. the locks will be sized proportionally with the max number of CPUs and the hash chains sized proportinally with the size of physical memory) In order to allow this, the gl_bucket member of struct gfs2_glock has now become gl_hash, so we record the hash rather than a pointer to the bucket itself. There are several reasons why we want to do this: - Firstly its large and thus we'll scale better with multiple GFS2 fs mounted at the same time - Secondly its easier to scale its size as required (thats a plan for later patches) - Thirdly, we can use kzalloc rather than vmalloc when allocating the superblock (its now only 4888 bytes) - Fourth its all part of my plan to eventually be able to use RCU with the glock hash. 2006-09-02[ARM] 3762/1: Fix ptrace cache coherency bug for ARM1136 VIPT nonaliasing ↵George G. Davis2-3/+41
Harvard caches Patch from George G. Davis Resolve ARM1136 VIPT non-aliasing cache coherency issues observed when using ptrace to set breakpoints and cleanup copy_{to,from}_user_page() while we're here as requested by Russell King because "it's also far too heavy on non-v6 CPUs". NOTES: 1. Only access_process_vm() calls copy_{to,from}_user_page(). 2. access_process_vm() calls get_user_pages() to pin down the "page". 3. get_user_pages() calls flush_dcache_page(page) which ensures cache coherency between kernel and userspace mappings of "page". However flush_dcache_page(page) may not invalidate I-Cache over this range for all cases, specifically, I-Cache is not invalidated for the VIPT non-aliasing case. So memory is consistent between kernel and user space mappings of "page" but I-Cache may still be hot over this range. IOW, we don't have to worry about flush_cache_page() before memcpy(). 4. Now, for the copy_to_user_page() case, after memcpy(), we must flush the caches so memory is consistent with kernel cache entries and invalidate the I-Cache if this mm region is executable. We don't need to do anything after memcpy() for the copy_from_user_page() case since kernel cache entries will be invalidated via the same process above if we access "page" again. The flush_ptrace_access() function (borrowed from SPARC64 implementation) is added to handle cache flushing after memcpy() for the copy_to_user_page() case. Signed-off-by: George G. 2006-09-01[PATCH] fix NUMA interleaving for huge pagesNishanth Aravamudan1-1/+9
Since vma->vm_pgoff is in units of smallpages, VMAs for huge pages have the lower HPAGE_SHIFT - PAGE_SHIFT bits always cleared, which results in badd offsets to the interleave functions. Take this difference from small pages into account when calculating the offset. This does add a 0-bit shift into the small-page path (via alloc_page_vma()), but I think that is negligible. Also add a BUG_ON to prevent the offset from growing due to a negative right-shift, which probably shouldn't be allowed anyways. Tested on an 8-memory node ppc64 NUMA box and got the interleaving I expected. The port to genirq & the new powerpc interrupt model in 2.6.18 introduced a bug in the legacy PowerMac PIC code (used on older machines) because of a typo potentially causing hangs due to interrupt storms.
