From 04d0f1b84927169cdaa4e3a24da768a9fd9aca6f Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Jeff Garzik Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2012 13:36:59 -0400 Subject: [libata] new quirk, lift bridge limits for Buffalo DriveStation Quattro Michael Eitelwein writes: I have an external SATA drive that was slowed down by bridge limits. I found a solution in a thread on this list posted in 2008: It introduces whitelist entries in libata-core.c for devices with well working bridges (e.g. email on Fri, 31 Oct 2008 01:45:27 -0400). I added my device to this whitelist in a custom built kernel and it works fine for weeks now. How can I have this device added on the whitelist within the official kernel? Is this whitelist mechanism still supported or is there a smarter way to achieve whitelisting? I added the following whitelist entry for my Buffalo DriveStation Quattro "BUFFALO HD-QSU2/R5": /* Devices that do not need bridging limits applied */ { "MTRON MSP-SATA*", NULL, ATA_HORKAGE_BRIDGE_OK, }, { "BUFFALO HD-QSU2/R5", NULL, ATA_HORKAGE_BRIDGE_OK, }, Reported-by: Michael Eitelwein Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik --- drivers/ata/libata-core.c | 1 + 1 file changed, 1 insertion(+) (limited to 'drivers/ata/libata-core.c') diff --git a/drivers/ata/libata-core.c b/drivers/ata/libata-core.c index fadd5866d40f..5eee1c1537d2 100644 --- a/drivers/ata/libata-core.c +++ b/drivers/ata/libata-core.c @@ -4128,6 +4128,7 @@ static const struct ata_blacklist_entry ata_device_blacklist [] = { /* Devices that do not need bridging limits applied */ { "MTRON MSP-SATA*", NULL, ATA_HORKAGE_BRIDGE_OK, }, + { "BUFFALO HD-QSU2/R5", NULL, ATA_HORKAGE_BRIDGE_OK, }, /* Devices which aren't very happy with higher link speeds */ { "WD My Book", NULL, ATA_HORKAGE_1_5_GBPS, }, -- cgit v1.2.3 From d17d794c63e2dc0a5b1ffc8367c9475880427fc7 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Prarit Bhargava Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2012 15:11:52 -0400 Subject: libata: Add a space to " 2GB ATA Flash Disk" DMA blacklist entry commit d70e551c8e1ecb6f20422f8db6bfe6a0049edcb8, Add " 2GB ATA Flash Disk"/"ADMA428M" to DMA blacklist, should have added a space before 2GB.
