2009-11-29X25: Fix oops and refcnt problems from x25_dev_getandrew hendry1-1/+3
Calls to x25_dev_get check for dev = NULL which was not set. It allowed x25 to set routes and ioctls on down interfaces. This caused oopses and refcnt problems on device_unregister. Signed-off-by: Andrew Hendry <andrew.hendry@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2009-11-12sysctl net: Remove unused binary sysctl codeEric W. Biederman1-13/+2
Now that sys_sysctl is a compatiblity wrapper around /proc/sys all sysctl strategy routines, and all ctl_name and strategy entries in the sysctl tables are unused, and can be revmoed. In addition neigh_sysctl_register has been modified to no longer take a strategy argument and it's callers have been modified not to pass one. 2009-11-07net/x25: push BKL usage into x25_protoArnd Bergmann1-11/+60
The x25 driver uses lock_kernel() implicitly through its proto_ops wrapper. The makes the usage explicit in order to get rid of that wrapper and to better document the usage of the BKL. The next step should be to get rid of the usage of the BKL in x25 entirely, which requires understanding what data structures need serialized accesses. 2009-11-05net: pass kern to net_proto_family create functionEric Paris1-1/+2
The generic __sock_create function has a kern argument which allows the security system to make decisions based on if a socket is being created by the kernel or by userspace. This patch passes that flag to the net_proto_family specific create function, so it can do the same thing. 2009-06-17net: sk_wmem_alloc has initial value of one, not zeroEric Dumazet1-2/+1
commit 2b85a34e911bf483c27cfdd124aeb1605145dc80 (net: No more expensive sock_hold()/sock_put() on each tx) changed initial sk_wmem_alloc value. Some protocols check sk_wmem_alloc value to determine if a timer must delay socket deallocation. We must take care of the sk_wmem_alloc value being one instead of zero when no write allocations are pending. Reported by Ingo Molnar, and full diagnostic from David Miller. 2008-01-04[X25]: Add missing x25_neigh_putJulia Lawall1-2/+3
The function x25_get_neigh increments a reference count. At the point of the second goto out, the result of calling x25_get_neigh is only stored in a local variable, and thus no one outside the function will be able to decrease the reference count. Thus, x25_neigh_put should be called before the return in this case. The problem was found using the following semantic match. (http://www.emn.fr/x-info/coccinelle/) // <smpl> @@ type T,T1,T2; identifier E; statement S; expression x1,x2,x3; int ret; @@ T E; ... * if ((E = x25_get_neigh(...)) == NULL) S ... when != x25_neigh_put(...,(T1)E,...) when != if (E != NULL) { ... x25_neigh_put(...,(T1)E,...); ...} when != x1 = (T1)E when != E = x3; when any if (...) { ... when != x25_neigh_put(...,(T2)E,...) when != if (E != NULL) { ... x25_neigh_put(...,(T2)E,...); ...} when != x2 = (T2)E ( * return; | * return ret; ) } // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk> Signed-off-by: David S. 2007-10-10[NET]: Make the device list and device lookups per namespace.Eric W. Biederman1-1/+1
This patch makes most of the generic device layer network namespace safe. This patch makes dev_base_head a network namespace variable, and then it picks up a few associated variables. The functions: dev_getbyhwaddr dev_getfirsthwbytype dev_get_by_flags dev_get_by_name __dev_get_by_name dev_get_by_index __dev_get_by_index dev_ioctl dev_ethtool dev_load wireless_process_ioctl were modified to take a network namespace argument, and deal with it. vlan_ioctl_set and brioctl_set were modified so their hooks will receive a network namespace argument. So basically anthing in the core of the network stack that was affected to by the change of dev_base was modified to handle multiple network namespaces. The rest of the network stack was simply modified to explicitly use &init_net the initial network namespace. This can be fixed when those components of the network stack are modified to handle multiple network namespaces. For now the ifindex generator is left global. Fundametally ifindex numbers are per namespace, or else we will have corner case problems with migration when we get that far. At the same time there are assumptions in the network stack that the ifindex of a network device won't change. Making the ifindex number global seems a good compromise until the network stack can cope with ifindex changes when you change namespaces, and the like. Signed-off-by: Eric W. 2007-10-10[NET]: Make device event notification network namespace safeEric W. Biederman1-0/+3
Every user of the network device notifiers is either a protocol stack or a pseudo device. If a protocol stack that does not have support for multiple network namespaces receives an event for a device that is not in the initial network namespace it quite possibly can get confused and do the wrong thing. To avoid problems until all of the protocol stacks are converted this patch modifies all netdev event handlers to ignore events on devices that are not in the initial network namespace. As the rest of the code is made network namespace aware these checks can be removed. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2007-10-10[NET]: Make packet reception network namespace safeEric W. Biederman1-0/+3
This patch modifies every packet receive function registered with dev_add_pack() to drop packets if they are not from the initial network namespace. This should ensure that the various network stacks do not receive packets in a anything but the initial network namespace until the code has been converted and is ready for them. 2007-10-10[NET]: Make socket creation namespace safe.Eric W. Biederman1-5/+8
This patch passes in the namespace a new socket should be created in and has the socket code do the appropriate reference counting. By virtue of this all socket create methods are touched. In addition the socket create methods are modified so that they will fail if you attempt to create a socket in a non-default network namespace. Failing if we attempt to create a socket outside of the default network namespace ensures that as we incrementally make the network stack network namespace aware we will not export functionality that someone has not audited and made certain is network namespace safe. Allowing us to partially enable network namespaces before all of the exotic protocols are supported. Any protocol layers I have missed will fail to compile because I now pass an extra parameter into the socket creation code. 2007-10-10[NET]: Make /proc/net per network namespaceEric W. Biederman1-3/+4
This patch makes /proc/net per network namespace. It modifies the global variables proc_net and proc_net_stat to be per network namespace. The proc_net file helpers are modified to take a network namespace argument, and all of their callers are fixed to pass &init_net for that argument. This ensures that all of the /proc/net files are only visible and usable in the initial network namespace until the code behind them has been updated to be handle multiple network namespaces. Making /proc/net per namespace is necessary as at least some files in /proc/net depend upon the set of network devices which is per network namespace, and even more files in /proc/net have contents that are relevant to a single network namespace.
