2007-12-20[NET]: Correct two mistaken skb_reset_mac_header() conversions.David S. Miller1-1/+1
This operation helper abstracts: skb->mac_header = skb->data; but it was done in two more places which were actually: skb->mac_header = skb->network_header; and those are corrected here. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2007-10-10[NET]: Move hardware header operations out of netdevice.Stephen Hemminger1-4/+10
Since hardware header operations are part of the protocol class not the device instance, make them into a separate object and save memory. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2007-04-25[SK_BUFF]: Introduce skb_reset_network_header(skb)Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo1-1/+1
For the common, open coded 'skb->nh.raw = skb->data' operation, so that we can later turn skb->nh.raw into a offset, reducing the size of struct sk_buff in 64bit land while possibly keeping it as a pointer on 32bit. This one touches just the most simple case, next will handle the slightly more "complex" cases. Signed-off-by: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo <acme@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2007-02-14[PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau1-1/+0
After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files). 2006-12-17[AX.25]: Fix unchecked ax25_listen_register usesRalf Baechle1-6/+18
Fix ax25_listen_register to return something that's a sane error code, then all callers to use it. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2005-10-05[AX.25]: Fix packet socket crashRalf Baechle1-1/+1
Since changeset 98a82febb6340466824c3a453738d4fbd05db81a AX.25 is passing received IP and ARP packets to the stack through netif_rx() but we don't set the skb->mac.raw to right value which may result in a crash with applications that use a packet socket. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle DL5RB <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-09-12[NETROM]: Introduct stuct nr_privateRalf Baechle1-5/+6
NET/ROM's virtual interfaces don't have a proper private data structure yet. Create struct nr_private and put the statistics there. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle DL5RB <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-09-12[NETROM]: NET/ROM has no ARPRalf Baechle1-1/+1
ARP over NET/ROM does not exist so it's obviously not implemented on any NET/ROM stack, so the NET/ROM interfaces really should default to IFF_NOARP. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle DL5RB <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-09-12[NETROM] NET/ROM has no txqueueRalf Baechle1-1/+0
NET/ROM uses virtual interfaces so setting a queue length is wrong. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle DL5RB <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-09-12[NETROM]: statistics fixRalf Baechle1-1/+1
Calling an incoming NET/ROM-encapsulated IP packet an error if the interface isn't up is probably a bit over the top, so count it as dropped instead of an error. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle DL5RB <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-09-12[NETROM]: Fix rebuild header messRalf Baechle1-29/+15
For reason that probably nobody recalls NET/ROM does it's actual packet transmission in nr_rebuild_header and even treats invocation of it's hard_start_xmit method nr_xmit as a bug. Fix that by splitting the job done by nr_rebuild_header into two halves. Along with that we now also can get rid of the silly clone of the skb on transmit. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle DL5RB <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-08-29[AX25/NETROM]: Cleanup direct calls into IP stackRalf Baechle1-3/+2
Get rid of the calls to ip_rcv and arp_rcv which were layering violations anyway. With those being replaced by netif_rx, less parts of AX.25 and relatives depend on INET support actually being enabled. This also will make PF_PACKET sockets work for IP and ARP packets received over AX.25 and for IP packets over NET/ROM. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle DL5RB <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-08-29[NET]: Kill skb->real_devDavid S. Miller1-1/+1
Bonding just wants the device before the skb_bond() decapsulation occurs, so simply pass that original device into packet_type->func() as an argument. It remains to be seen whether we can use this same exact thing to get rid of skb->input_dev as well. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds1-0/+220
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
