2008-11-12netdevice: safe convert to netdev_priv() #part-4Wang Chen1-1/+1
We have some reasons to kill netdev->priv: 1. netdev->priv is equal to netdev_priv(). 2. netdev_priv() wraps the calculation of netdev->priv's offset, obviously netdev_priv() is more flexible than netdev->priv. But we cann't kill netdev->priv, because so many drivers reference to it directly. This patch is a safe convert for netdev->priv to netdev_priv(netdev). Since all of the netdev->priv is only for read. But it is too big to be sent in one mail. I split it to 4 parts and make every part smaller than 100,000 bytes, which is max size allowed by vger. 2008-11-03net: '&' reduxAlexey Dobriyan1-25/+25
I want to compile out proc_* and sysctl_* handlers totally and stub them to NULL depending on config options, however usage of & will prevent this, since taking adress of NULL pointer will break compilation. So, drop & in front of every ->proc_handler and every ->strategy handler, it was never needed in fact. Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-10-27net: convert print_mac to %pMJohannes Berg1-3/+1
This converts pretty much everything to print_mac. There were a few things that had conflicts which I have just dropped for now, no harm done. I've built an allyesconfig with this and looked at the files that weren't built very carefully, but it's a huge patch. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: David S. 2008-07-20tty: Ldisc revampAlan Cox1-7/+7
Move the line disciplines towards a conventional ->ops arrangement. For the moment the actual 'tty_ldisc' struct in the tty is kept as part of the tty struct but this can then be changed if it turns out that when it all settles down we want to refcount ldiscs separately to the tty. Pull the ldisc code out of /proc and put it with our ldisc code. Signed-off-by: Alan Cox <alan@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2008-04-29proc: switch /proc/irda/irnet to seq_file interfaceAlexey Dobriyan2-39/+34
Probably interface misuse, because of the way iterating over hashbin is done. However! Printing of socket number ("IrNET socket %d - ", i++") made conversion to proper ->start/->next difficult enough to do blindly without hardware. Said that, please apply. 2008-01-28[IrDA]: Frame length validation.Robie Basak2-0/+25
When using a stir4200-based USB adaptor to talk to a device that uses an mcp2150, the stir4200 sometimes drops an incoming frame causing the mcp2150 to try and retransmit the lost frame. In this combination, the next frame received from the mcp2150 is often invalid - either an empty i:rsp or an IrCOMM i:rsp with an invalid clen. These corner cases are now checked. 2008-01-28[NET]: Convert init_timer into setup_timerPavel Emelyanov1-3/+2
Many-many code in the kernel initialized the timer->function and timer->data together with calling init_timer(timer). There is already a helper for this. Use it for networking code.
