2020-06-14treewide: replace '---help---' in Kconfig files with 'help'Masahiro Yamada2-5/+5
Since commit 84af7a6194e4 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over '---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances. This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines, I also fixed the indentation. There are a variety of indentation styles found. a) 4 spaces + '---help---' b) 7 spaces + '---help---' c) 8 spaces + '---help---' d) 1 space + 1 tab + '---help---' e) 1 tab + '---help---' (correct indentation) f) 1 tab + 1 space + '---help---' g) 1 tab + 2 spaces + '---help---' In order to convert all of them to 1 tab + 'help', I ran the following commend: $ find . -name 'Kconfig*' | xargs sed -i 's/^[[:space:]]*---help---/\thelp/' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <masahiroy@kernel.org>
2020-06-09dccp: Fix possible memleak in dccp_init and dccp_finiWang Hai1-2/+5
There are some memory leaks in dccp_init() and dccp_fini(). In dccp_fini() and the error handling path in dccp_init(), free lhash2 is missing. Add inet_hashinfo2_free_mod() to do it. If inet_hashinfo2_init_mod() failed in dccp_init(), percpu_counter_destroy() should be called to destroy dccp_orphan_count. It need to goto out_free_percpu when inet_hashinfo2_init_mod() failed. 2020-02-28net: dccp: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array memberGustavo A. R. Silva1-1/+1
The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this change: "Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1] This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle. 2020-02-27inet_diag: Move the INET_DIAG_REQ_BYTECODE nlattr to cb->dataMartin KaFai Lau1-2/+2
The INET_DIAG_REQ_BYTECODE nlattr is currently re-found every time when the "dump()" is re-started. In a latter patch, it will also need to parse the new INET_DIAG_REQ_SK_BPF_STORAGES nlattr to learn the map_fds. Thus, this patch takes this chance to store the parsed nlattr in cb->data during the "start" time of a dump. By doing this, the "bc" argument also becomes unnecessary and is removed. Also, the two copies of the INET_DIAG_REQ_BYTECODE parsing-audit logic between compat/current version can be consolidated to one. 2020-02-27inet_diag: Refactor inet_sk_diag_fill(), dump(), and dump_one()Martin KaFai Lau1-3/+2
In a latter patch, there is a need to update "cb->min_dump_alloc" in inet_sk_diag_fill() as it learns the diffierent bpf_sk_storages stored in a sk while dumping all sk(s) (e.g. tcp_hashinfo). The inet_sk_diag_fill() currently does not take the "cb" as an argument. One of the reason is inet_sk_diag_fill() is used by both dump_one() and dump() (which belong to the "struct inet_diag_handler". The dump_one() interface does not pass the "cb" along. This patch is to make dump_one() pass a "cb". The "cb" is created in inet_diag_cmd_exact(). The "nlh" and "in_skb" are stored in "cb" as the dump() interface does. The total number of args in inet_sk_diag_fill() is also cut from 10 to 7 and that helps many callers to pass fewer args. In particular, "struct user_namespace *user_ns", "u32 pid", and "u32 seq" can be replaced by accessing "cb->nlh" and "cb->skb". A similar argument reduction is also made to inet_twsk_diag_fill() and inet_req_diag_fill(). inet_csk_diag_dump() and inet_csk_diag_fill() are also removed. They are mostly equivalent to inet_sk_diag_fill(). Their repeated usages are very limited. Thus, inet_sk_diag_fill() is directly used in those occasions. 2019-11-01inet: stop leaking jiffies on the wireEric Dumazet1-1/+1
Historically linux tried to stick to RFC 791, 1122, 2003 for IPv4 ID field generation. RFC 6864 made clear that no matter how hard we try, we can not ensure unicity of IP ID within maximum lifetime for all datagrams with a given source address/destination address/protocol tuple. Linux uses a per socket inet generator (inet_id), initialized at connection startup with a XOR of 'jiffies' and other fields that appear clear on the wire. Thiemo Nagel pointed that this strategy is a privacy concern as this provides 16 bits of entropy to fingerprint devices. Let's switch to a random starting point, this is just as good as far as RFC 6864 is concerned and does not leak anything critical. 2019-10-01netfilter: drop bridge nf reset from nf_resetFlorian Westphal1-1/+1
commit 174e23810cd31 ("sk_buff: drop all skb extensions on free and skb scrubbing") made napi recycle always drop skb extensions. The additional skb_ext_del() that is performed via nf_reset on napi skb recycle is not needed anymore. Most nf_reset() calls in the stack are there so queued skb won't block 'rmmod nf_conntrack' indefinitely. This removes the skb_ext_del from nf_reset, and renames it to a more fitting nf_reset_ct(). In a few selected places, add a call to skb_ext_reset to make sure that no active extensions remain. I am submitting this for "net", because we're still early in the release cycle. The patch applies to net-next too, but I think the rename causes needless divergence between those trees. 2019-09-27ipv6: add priority parameter to ip6_xmit()Eric Dumazet1-2/+3
Currently, ip6_xmit() sets skb->priority based on sk->sk_priority This is not desirable for TCP since TCP shares the same ctl socket for a given netns. We want to be able to send RST or ACK packets with a non zero skb->priority. This patch has no functional change. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2019-07-18proc/sysctl: add shared variables for range checkMatteo Croce1-9/+7
In the sysctl code the proc_dointvec_minmax() function is often used to validate the user supplied value between an allowed range. This function uses the extra1 and extra2 members from struct ctl_table as minimum and maximum allowed value. On sysctl handler declaration, in every source file there are some readonly variables containing just an integer which address is assigned to the extra1 and extra2 members, so the sysctl range is enforced. The special values 0, 1 and INT_MAX are very often used as range boundary, leading duplication of variables like zero=0, one=1, int_max=INT_MAX in different source files: $ git grep -E '\.extra[12].*&(zero|one|int_max)' |wc -l 248 Add a const int array containing the most commonly used values, some macros to refer more easily to the correct array member, and use them instead of creating a local one for every object file. 2019-07-08ipv6: elide flowlabel check if no exclusive leases existWillem de Bruijn1-1/+1
Processes can request ipv6 flowlabels with cmsg IPV6_FLOWINFO. If not set, by default an autogenerated flowlabel is selected. Explicit flowlabels require a control operation per label plus a datapath check on every connection (every datagram if unconnected). This is particularly expensive on unconnected sockets multiplexing many flows, such as QUIC. In the common case, where no lease is exclusive, the check can be safely elided, as both lease request and check trivially succeed. Indeed, autoflowlabel does the same even with exclusive leases. Elide the check if no process has requested an exclusive lease. fl6_sock_lookup previously returns either a reference to a lease or NULL to denote failure. Modify to return a real error and update all callers. On return NULL, they can use the label and will elide the atomic_dec in fl6_sock_release. This is an optimization. Robust applications still have to revert to requesting leases if the fast path fails due to an exclusive lease. Changes RFC->v1: - use static_key_false_deferred to rate limit jump label operations - call static_key_deferred_flush to stop timers on exit - move decrement out of RCU context - defer optimization also if opt data is associated with a lease - updated all fp6_sock_lookup callers, not just udp Signed-off-by: Willem de Bruijn <willemb@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2019-04-19net: rework SIOCGSTAMP ioctl handlingArnd Bergmann2-0/+2
The SIOCGSTAMP/SIOCGSTAMPNS ioctl commands are implemented by many socket protocol handlers, and all of those end up calling the same sock_get_timestamp()/sock_get_timestampns() helper functions, which results in a lot of duplicate code. With the introduction of 64-bit time_t on 32-bit architectures, this gets worse, as we then need four different ioctl commands in each socket protocol implementation. To simplify that, let's add a new .gettstamp() operation in struct proto_ops, and move ioctl implementation into the common sock_ioctl()/compat_sock_ioctl_trans() functions that these all go through. We can reuse the sock_get_timestamp() implementation, but generalize it so it can deal with both native and compat mode, as well as timeval and timespec structures. 2018-12-28mm: reference totalram_pages and managed_pages once per functionArun KS1-3/+4
Patch series "mm: convert totalram_pages, totalhigh_pages and managed pages to atomic", v5. This series converts totalram_pages, totalhigh_pages and zone->managed_pages to atomic variables. totalram_pages, zone->managed_pages and totalhigh_pages updates are protected by managed_page_count_lock, but readers never care about it. Convert these variables to atomic to avoid readers potentially seeing a store tear. Main motivation was that managed_page_count_lock handling was complicating things. It was discussed in length here, https://lore.kernel.org/patchwork/patch/995739/#1181785 It seemes better to remove the lock and convert variables to atomic. With the change, preventing poteintial store-to-read tearing comes as a bonus. This patch (of 4): This is in preparation to a later patch which converts totalram_pages and zone->managed_pages to atomic variables. Please note that re-reading the value might lead to a different value and as such it could lead to unexpected behavior. There are no known bugs as a result of the current code but it is better to prevent from them in principle. 2018-12-24net: dccp: fix kernel crash on module loadPeter Oskolkov1-4/+4
Patch eedbbb0d98b2 "net: dccp: initialize (addr, port) ..." added calling to inet_hashinfo2_init() from dccp_init(). However, inet_hashinfo2_init() is marked as __init(), and thus the kernel panics when dccp is loaded as module. Removing __init() tag from inet_hashinfo2_init() is not feasible because it calls into __init functions in mm. This patch adds inet_hashinfo2_init_mod() function that can be called after the init phase is done; changes dccp_init() to call the new function; un-marks inet_hashinfo2_init() as exported. Commit d9fbc7f6431f "net: tcp: prefer listeners bound to an address" removes port-only listener lookups. This caused segfaults in DCCP lookups because DCCP did not initialize the (addr, port) hashtable. This patch adds said initialization. The only non-trivial issue here is the size of the new hashtable. It seemed reasonable to make it match the size of the port-only hashtable (= INET_LHTABLE_SIZE) that was used previously. Other parameters to inet_hashinfo2_init() match those used in TCP. V2 changes: marked inet_hashinfo2_init as an exported symbol so that DCCP compiles when configured as a module. 2018-11-08net: Convert protocol error handlers from void to intStefano Brivio2-10/+16
We'll need this to handle ICMP errors for tunnels without a sending socket (i.e. FoU and GUE). There, we might have to look up different types of IP tunnels, registered as network protocols, before we get a match, so we want this for the error handlers of IPPROTO_IPIP and IPPROTO_IPV6 in both inet_protos and inet6_protos. These error codes will be used in the next patch. For consistency, return sensible error codes in protocol error handlers whenever handlers can't handle errors because, even if valid, they don't match a protocol or any of its states. This reverts commit dd979b4df817e9976f18fb6f9d134d6bc4a3c317. This broke tcp_poll for SMC fallback: An AF_SMC socket establishes an internal TCP socket for the initial handshake with the remote peer. Whenever the SMC connection can not be established this TCP socket is used as a fallback. All socket operations on the SMC socket are then forwarded to the TCP socket. In case of poll, the file->private_data pointer references the SMC socket because the TCP socket has no file assigned. This causes tcp_poll to wait on the wrong socket. 2018-10-02inet: make sure to grab rcu_read_lock before using ireq->ireq_optEric Dumazet1-1/+3
Timer handlers do not imply rcu_read_lock(), so my recent fix triggered a LOCKDEP warning when SYNACK is retransmit. Lets add rcu_read_lock()/rcu_read_unlock() pairs around ireq->ireq_opt usages instead of guessing what is done by callers, since it is not worth the pain. Get rid of ireq_opt_deref() helper since it hides the logic without real benefit, since it is now a standard rcu_dereference(). 2018-10-01tcp/dccp: fix lockdep issue when SYN is backloggedEric Dumazet1-1/+3
In normal SYN processing, packets are handled without listener lock and in RCU protected ingress path. But syzkaller is known to be able to trick us and SYN packets might be processed in process context, after being queued into socket backlog. In commit 06f877d613be ("tcp/dccp: fix other lockdep splats accessing ireq_opt") I made a very stupid fix, that happened to work mostly because of the regular path being RCU protected. Really the thing protecting ireq->ireq_opt is RCU read lock, and the pseudo request refcnt is not relevant. This patch extends what I did in commit 449809a66c1d ("tcp/dccp: block BH for SYN processing") by adding an extra rcu_read_{lock|unlock} pair in the paths that might be taken when processing SYN from socket backlog (thus possibly in process context) Fixes: 06f877d613be ("tcp/dccp: fix other lockdep splats accessing ireq_opt") Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Reported-by: syzbot <syzkaller@googlegroups.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2018-08-07dccp: fix undefined behavior with 'cwnd' shift in ccid2_cwnd_restart()Alexey Kodanev1-2/+4
The shift of 'cwnd' with '(now - hc->tx_lsndtime) / hc->tx_rto' value can lead to undefined behavior [1]. In order to fix this use a gradual shift of the window with a 'while' loop, similar to what tcp_cwnd_restart() is doing. When comparing delta and RTO there is a minor difference between TCP and DCCP, the last one also invokes dccp_cwnd_restart() and reduces 'cwnd' if delta equals RTO. That case is preserved in this change. 2018-06-28Revert changes to convert to ->poll_mask() and aio IOCB_CMD_POLLLinus Torvalds4-5/+15
The poll() changes were not well thought out, and completely unexplained. They also caused a huge performance regression, because "->poll()" was no longer a trivial file operation that just called down to the underlying file operations, but instead did at least two indirect calls. Indirect calls are sadly slow now with the Spectre mitigation, but the performance problem could at least be largely mitigated by changing the "->get_poll_head()" operation to just have a per-file-descriptor pointer to the poll head instead. That gets rid of one of the new indirections. But that doesn't fix the new complexity that is completely unwarranted for the regular case. The (undocumented) reason for the poll() changes was some alleged AIO poll race fixing, but we don't make the common case slower and more complex for some uncommon special case, so this all really needs way more explanations and most likely a fundamental redesign.
