2018-03-27edd: don't spam log if no EDD information is presentJohannes Thumshirn1-5/+3
We've had reports from users being concerned about messages like: [ 4.487246] BIOS EDD facility v0.16 2004-Jun-25, 0 devices found [ 4.487251] EDD information not available. While these are more or less irrelevant, tell edd.c to not annoy anyone. Signed-off-by: Johannes Thumshirn <jthumshirn@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
2018-01-11edd: Deprecate pci_get_bus_and_slot()Sinan Kaya1-4/+4
pci_get_bus_and_slot() is restrictive such that it assumes domain=0 as where a PCI device is present. This restricts the device drivers to be reused for other domain numbers. Getting ready to remove pci_get_bus_and_slot() function in favor of pci_get_domain_bus_and_slot(). Domain number is not available in struct edd_info. Hard-coding the domain number as 0. 2011-10-31[SCSI] edd: Treat "XPRS" host bus type the same as "PCI"Michael Chan1-3/+3
PCI Express devices will return "XPRS" host bus type during BIOS EDD call. "XPRS" should be treated just like "PCI" so that the proper pci_dev symlink will be created. Scripts such as fcoe_edd.sh will then work correctly. 2011-04-27x86, setup: Fix EDD3.0 data verification.Gleb Natapov1-11/+11
Check for nonzero path in edd_has_edd30() has no sense. First, it looks at the wrong memory. Device path starts at offset 30 of the info->params structure which is at offset 8 from the beginning of info structure, but code looks at info + 4 instead. This was correct when code was introduced, but around v2.6.4 three more fields were added to edd_info structure (commit 66b61a5c in history.git). Second, even if it will check correct memory it will always succeed since at offset 30 (params->key) there will be non-zero values otherwise previous check would fail. The patch replaces this bogus check with one that verifies checksum. Signed-off-by: Gleb Natapov <gleb@redhat.com> Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/20110426082132.GG2265@redhat.com Signed-off-by: H. 2010-08-09edd: fix possible memory leak in edd_init() error pathAxel Lin1-7/+13
The error may happen at any iteration of the for loop, this patch properly unregisters already registed edd_devices in error path. 2010-03-07Driver core: Constify struct sysfs_ops in struct kobj_typeEmese Revfy1-1/+1
Constify struct sysfs_ops. This is part of the ops structure constification effort started by Arjan van de Ven et al. Benefits of this constification: * prevents modification of data that is shared (referenced) by many other structure instances at runtime * detects/prevents accidental (but not intentional) modification attempts on archs that enforce read-only kernel data at runtime * potentially better optimized code as the compiler can assume that the const data cannot be changed * the compiler/linker move const data into .rodata and therefore exclude them from false sharing Signed-off-by: Emese Revfy <re.emese@gmail.com> Acked-by: David Teigland <teigland@redhat.com> Acked-by: Matt Domsch <Matt_Domsch@dell.com> Acked-by: Maciej Sosnowski <maciej.sosnowski@intel.com> Acked-by: Hans J. 2008-01-24Kobject: convert drivers/* from kobject_unregister() to kobject_put()Greg Kroah-Hartman1-1/+1

2008-01-24firmware: change firmware_kset to firmware_kobjGreg Kroah-Hartman1-1/+1
There is no firmware "subsystem" it's just a directory in /sys that other portions of the kernel want to hook into. So make it a kobject not a kset to help alivate anyone who tries to do some odd kset-like things with this. 2008-01-24kobject: remove struct kobj_type from struct ksetGreg Kroah-Hartman1-2/+3
We don't need a "default" ktype for a kset. We should set this explicitly every time for each kset. This change is needed so that we can make ksets dynamic, and cleans up one of the odd, undocumented assumption that the kset/kobject/ktype model has. This patch is based on a lot of help from Kay Sievers. 2007-07-11sysfs: kill unnecessary attribute->ownerTejun Heo1-1/+1
sysfs is now completely out of driver/module lifetime game. After deletion, a sysfs node doesn't access anything outside sysfs proper, so there's no reason to hold onto the attribute owners. Note that often the wrong modules were accounted for as owners leading to accessing removed modules. This patch kills now unnecessary attribute->owner. Note that with this change, userland holding a sysfs node does not prevent the backing module from being unloaded. For more info regarding lifetime rule cleanup, please read the following message. http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/510293 (tweaked by Greg to not delete the field just yet, to make it easier to merge things properly.) Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
